We raise Corn, Soybeans, Alfalfa, and Oats. We feed the alfalfa and oats and some of the corn to our cattle. We don't slaughter the animals, we raise steers to 500 pounds where we sell them to someone else who raises them until they are slaughter weight, where they get sold to the slaughterhouse.

I guesstimate the tractor is worth ~$35,000-40,000. The baler is worth ~$5,000-8,000. This tractor's price when released was $52,000. John Deere agricultural tractors are made in Waterloo, Iowa USA.

I recall when round balers first appeared in our area( 1970's)The only two balers that could make a decent round bale was Vermeer and John Deere.Seems like most companies got the hang of it by now.

i hated when we had a monitor like that i love the new one we have its got 2 bars and it shows how much your getting on each side of the bale to make a perfect round bale you have to keep them even so kind of like that monitor you have but its a lot easier

and our baler has a kicker so it kicks it back its a lot easier then backing up a lot then kicking it out then having to pull up 10 foot just to close it

On alfalfa hay the more times you roll it over, the more leaf loss there is and most of nutrients/feed value is in the leaves. That is why small windrows.

Does the 535 baler tie a knot after tying? We have one that is not knotting before ejecting.

I've never seen a round baler that knots it's just wrapped so many times it stays tight unless they're kept for a few years

Very hard for a bale to be getting wrapped in twine /mesh wrap while new hay is coming into the baler.

Depends on how many generations have farmed and out of the 1100 acres I farm I only currently own a little over 400 my kids all own a little and we rent my dad's and some neighbors

I am going to guesstimate that your guesstimate that the tractor is worth ~$35,000-40,000 is a bit low. $40k to 50k possible.

True. Sometime condition trumps hours. Having said that a JD with 1922 hrs sold for $50500 recently.

I hear you there. I looked up a 7400 with just under 1000 hours, looks brand new and is listed for $76,000. I personally expect this one would go for under $35,000.
