In this DIY video I’ll show you how to make a router table and fence. I’m using the Rockler Pro Lift router lift as a router insert for this DIY router table build. This homemade router table is dead flat with a melamine tabletop, and the router table fence is perfectly square to the top.
This is Part 1 of 3 in this router table series build

Well, I just finished this build! Wow. Wanted to thank DYI Montreal for these fantastic and clear videos and tips. Also useful were the links to the materials used. I used a different router lift, but that’s no big deal. If I had any recommendations to anyone thinking of building this table it would be to use good plywood. Spend the money for high quality birch plywood. My top ended up with a slight bulge. I corrected this with some laminated “beams” which I jointed and screwed to the bottom on the top, which complicated the construction of the base. Great build, thanks again!

Just watched you 3 part table build. I’m in the middle of doing much the same but adding the table to the end of my cabinet saw. Adding an enclosure underneath. Seeing the significance of venting the motor enclosure, I will certainly add that to my build. Not being a fan of melamine, I’m using two 22”x44” 3/4” birch ply and then laminate a Formica top. Thanks for all the well thought out tips.

Inspiring, Marie. And your use of furniture glides to adjust router plate height is a terrific idea that I've seen nowhere else. The ease of fingertip adjustment makes it the best I've seen -- and so simple. I wonder if using some low-strength Loctite on the threads for the final adjustment would be a good idea, to prevent movement caused by vibration. Of course, one would want to use steel threaded wood insert nuts, instead of the plastic inserts, to anchor the bolts in the plywood.

Wonderful build- it looks so professional. I'm new to woodworking at 60 yrs old and so slow making cuts or routing tracks. Can you show how you made those fences for routing the groves to install tracks. They look fairly simple and effective- I take forever to figure out how to get a stable edge for my plunge router- can't wait until I can make a table router close to yours.

Hey Marie.. Love the look of this router table.. The issue I have with the insert plate from ROCKLER is the cost plus the shipping to IRELAND.. I would love to get it but the cost is too much so I will build my own lift mechanism in the future.. I'm spending monrey like crazy atm trying to get my workshop up and running so the router table will have to wait. I amy buy one of the TREND TABLES in the near future when I can see the benefits of such a spending spree. Not right now though Maire.. Ur table is sweet looking and I love the red accent against the white back drop on ur router table.. I salute u girl.
