In Finland (at least in the hospital I gave birth) they didn't use soap for the baby. The first bath was maybe day and a half after the birth. Actually, it is recommended in Finland not to use anything else than water to bath your baby, only some baby oil if baby's skin is dry.

Super helpful! Thank you!!! I'm not sure if you said this, but parents should definitely include what they want after labor in their birth plans. I had all of this info in my head, but forgot what/why I wanted certain things. In the moment, I ended up agreeing to things that I now know weren't needed at the time, like the eye cream which got all over the place. I really wish I hadn't agreed to that.

My hospital birth was a beautiful experience. There were lots of complications with the labor (chord wrapped around baby, my contractions were way stronger than normal and I was crushing my babys head with each contraction, and baby wasn't taking well to the epidural.) But in the end baby was 100% healthy and happy, and I didnt have any complications with the surgery. They treated me like a queen the whole time. I was respected, treated with kindness and compassion, and my husband was well taken care of too! Edit: I didnt have to wear a mask, neither did hubby. Baby never ever left my side even with the c section. Probably the best hospital I've ever been to and it's in the middle of nowhere in oklahoma, usa

The reason hospitals take baby’s weight and height at birth is to keep track of possible health issues. Baby loses some weight after birth. It’s to make sure they aren’t gaining or loosing too much weight during the hospital stayz

Hey Bridget!! Thank you for all the value you bring!! Ive been leaning towards not getting the vitamin K shot, I was wondering what your thoughts on it were?
@briannairene185
@briannairene185 2 жыл бұрын
Can I ask why you wouldn’t? Genuinely curious. The risks of not getting the shot are worse than any adverse event known. Worst worst worst case scenario is baby develops infection at injection site (very rare), and is started on antibiotics. The worst case scenario of NOT getting the vitamin k shot is your baby hemorrhaging to death-and by that time treatment is usually too late.

@mandigal13

@@briannairene185 Ive read a lot of things from medical professionals that stated that its a synthetic shot and that they can get vitamin K into baby a different way. Ive read quite a bit about how its not necessary for most babies. And I have talked to a few moms who choose not to get it and I havent heard of any complications. I know it's popular opinion that its necessary, I just haven't seen the proof to support it. I know lots of people also think its super risky to hold off or even decide against shots in general due to some info out there. However with my experience with vaccines I am leaning towards not giving my baby those either. Especially not at the rate that the vaccine schedule has it set too.. I think there is risk no matter what we do and we just have to do what we believe is best for our babies 💜

@briannairene185
@briannairene185 2 жыл бұрын
@@mandigal13 synthetic does not = unhealthy, bad. There are many synthetic life saving medications. Insulin being one of them. It’s not that if you don’t get the vitamin k shot your child will die, but you put that at a 1 in 11,000 chance at having potentially fatal bleeding, and the risk involved is abysmal compared to those odds. The other forms (oral potassium or moms taking vitamin k supplements hoping to transfer in breast milk) have been shown to not absorb as well and be effective. I’m an RN and basically my hope is that you would get your medical advice from an actual obgyn. Any good obgyn should listen to your questions and concerns and explain why getting it is way safer than not.

Sadly, most hospitals don't ask permission before performing or giving all the things Bridget mentioned. You sign "consent forms" when you are admitted, but that isn't informed consent in my opinion. It's important to advocate very insistently on what you want/don't want. Hospitals are not very good at respecting people's wishes.

I don't understand how things work in America. What does mandatory even mean? I mean if you give birth and then for example dont want the screening for genetic diseases for your baby (for whatever reason), but the hospital says its mandatory, can't you just say no thanks and leave? How could they possibly force you to do it? Its your child and everone has bodily autonomy. Does mandatory just mean 'this is what we usually do and if you don't go along with it we will cause a big fuss'? Will they call the police if you leave without the 'mandatory' treatments? I don't understand how anything that is mandatory is actually enforceable. Genuinely wondering.

The vitamin k shot is not just a vitamin. The actual synthetic vitamin used is less than the rest of ingredients listed on the insert including benzol alcohol and polysorbate 80 both are dangerous and are higher in volume than the synthetic vitamin K. You can find the insert online with all the potential adverse events and on the one my hospital uses the actual insert specifies that the synthetic vitamin isn’t a clotting agent what it actually does is make babies blood 1000x’s thicker than adults blood which in turn makes it hard for the stem cells from the cord/placenta to reach baby to help restore any trauma caused during labor the insert also states to only inject under the skin and not intramuscularly only in extreme cases where via under the skin is not feasible. To all new moms out there please Be informed about what is injected into your baby. when they tell you it’s just a vitamin that is a lie it’s not just a vitamin or else it wouldn’t have all these chemicals. It also causes jaundice or extreme jaundice in full term otherwise healthy newborns this is not normal ! You have a right to refuse these prophylaxis treatments (ie informed consent) that 9x’s/10 are not needed and completely unnecessary!!!

PLEASE don't refuse the vitamin K shot for your newborn. Babies have died from internal bleeding because the parents decided not getting the shot for their child. The oral drops don't absorb well enough for them to be effective compared to the injection. If you're afraid of the preservatives, there are preservativefree alternatives out there. There's a doctor on KZbin called ZdoggMD who talks about the subject in a very practical way and I hope that you at least check that out, before making up your mind.

The vit k has aluminum in it. Why dont they tell you that
@tolleri90
@tolleri90 4 жыл бұрын
The vitamin K has vitamin K in it, it says in the name. 😅 And if you did your research, you'd know there are preservativefree alternatives out there. Also, did you know salt has Chloride in it, no one talks about that either. Chlorid is a very toxic gas on its own, but harmless when combined with Natrium, and because salt is so commonly used, this information doesn't hopefully cause a mass panic. 😅

come on! I see that people still have this inheriting too much false information from socialization but not a trusted scientific sources! Why do not all human go to study science if they will talk science non-scientifically?

Babies develop their own vitamin K in 8 days and it had a black box!
@raesong926
@raesong926 4 жыл бұрын
I don't know about the black box warning, but I do know that there isn't a human alive (adult or baby) that produces their own vitamin K (similar to how we can't make our own vitamin D, we get it from sources in our environment). This vitamin is only acquired through eating foods that contain it. Breast milk doesn't contain it at all, but babies fed with formula can build up a supply within 8 days because it's added into the formula. By 6mo, babies can eat solid foods that contain it.

Not true at all .. all scientific studies approved vitamins K cannot be produced by a human body at least before adulthood ..

Raesong92 vitamin k does come through in breast milk. But not very much, if the mother is taking vitamin K supplements than the breast milk does contain more of it. This is what studies show....

My ex wife tried to have me removed from the hospital room the day my second son was born. I did not understand why until later on. My second son was not my biological son and did not physically resemble me or his mother. My ex wife knew this was a possibility so tried to prevent me from seeing the birth. The goal was to claim that the doctors gave her the wrong baby after birth. This was the excuse she was preparing just in case I questioned his paternity. She knew she couldn't use that excuse if I actually saw the baby come out of her. Paternity fraud sex rituals are a part of witchcraft manipulation. The biblical punishment for witchcraft is death. 🔥
