If you still have an earwig problem, buy some insect killer and spray/sprinkle it under any object that sit on the ground in your yard. Like crickets and other nocturnal insects, they require damp, dark places to hide during the day, so take those kinds of places away from them, and they'll disappear. They don't live in your house, they just get in while wondering/hunting. Guaranteed when you flip over something laying outside in the yard, you'll find a colony. Pretty simple to get rid of them, if you keep a tidy yard.

Theyre always 3" long with all the legs and crap.. and fast as hell.. those things have literally fallen on me a few times.. creepy.. but better earwigs than those spiders.. id wake up with an itch and then like getting hit with a dart it shoots up the skin then throbs for a while.. then is sensitive to touch for a few days.. not fun

Can you tell me how to get them out of my garden and stop eating my fruits and vegetables lol. One day I had the first bell pepper ripening to a beautiful red, it was just about ready and I said “I will give it one more day and tomorrow I am going to pick it to use in the dish I want to make”. Well, long story short, I go there the next morning and there is a giant hole in the pepper and when I looked closer the entire inside of the pepper was full of earwigs like maybe 20-30 or more. Do you know good ways to protect fruit and vegetable plants from earwigs?
@RovePestControl Жыл бұрын
To protect your fruit and vegetable plants from earwigs, you can try a few methods. Creating a barrier with diatomaceous earth around your plants can deter them. You can also set up traps using rolled-up newspaper or cardboard tubes, placing them near your plants overnight and disposing of them in the morning. Additionally, reducing excess moisture in your garden and removing any debris where earwigs might hide can help. Experiment with these techniques and see which works best for you!
@iCazZiStronZi Жыл бұрын
@@RovePestControl I have tried the diatomaceous earth method and it seems to work, the only issue is if the soil is wet or when you water the plants and wet the diatomaceous earth it becomes more ineffective and I find myself having to constantly re-apply it which can make it a very expensive method because my garden is pretty large with about just over 30 fruit and vegetable plants I would say. I tend to keep my garden fairly clean of debris, but my garden is surrounded with stone retaining walls which seems to be like an earwig paradise lol they love to live in the cracks between the stones in the wall. I have never tried the tube traps, I think I will try this next. Do I just simply leave the tubes on the ground near the plants? Or is there something else I have to do, like put some sort of bait inside or something like that? I appreciate the help, fingers crossed that this will help. You don’t know the struggle when they destroy your beautiful crops that you spent time planting and caring for and waiting a long time for them to grow and excited to pick and eat them, just for the earwigs to eat them instead 🤣
@fakeaccount8342 Жыл бұрын
Spray your plants with a mixture of cold press neem oil and water every few days, when they lose the shine, it's time to reapply, give it go and you'll see what I mean.

Wanna hear a 100% true and terrifying tale of just how evil these things are, that is guaranteed to give you nightmares? Okay, but don't say I didn't warn you!!! One year, in middle school, a bunch of us thought that it would be a blast to float a local river. We looked around and instead of going for the customary inner tube, we grabbed a "Tom Sawyer" like wooden raft (think large pallet) from a backyard. We lugged it down to the river, then climbed aboard and set off for a day of fun. What started as a grand adventure quickly turned into the river float from hell. As we drifted along we began to notice a couple of earwigs wandering across the planks..... There would be no joy on the river this day. The longer we floated the lower the raft submerged into to river. The lower the raft submerged, the greater the number of earwigs, until there were HUNDREDS, all scrambling from their hidey-holes, looking for a dry spot to haul themselves up onto. In desperation they quickly discovered that if they scaled US they could remain dry! As the raft sank ever deeper, they, and we, were soon fully in the river. We all floated at the same rate, human and earwig alike, so there was no escaping them! Soon our heads were their only escape they could find. Girl or boy made no difference, we were all most unhappy. We had no choice but to haul ourselves onto the shore, which was thick with thorny brambles. Tired, cut up, and defeated we made our way home..... each of us hating earwigs that much more. Yup, I'm no fan.

Anyway, then I had to take my inhaler because I couldn’t breathe with all that spraying i did ugh 😩
@skydriver57092 жыл бұрын
All apartments have cockroaches. They lie in wait for you to fall asleep so they can crawl all over you. But just so you know, cockroaches are far worse than earwigs, because a cockroach doesn't have the ability to walk backwards, and can only crawl forward. So if they crawl in your nose while you're sleeping, you have to wait for it to crawl all the way to the back of your throat to spit it out. Ever wake up coughing or a tickle in your throat? Probably a bug. Their spiny legs will prevent you from blowing them out through your nose too. But if one crawls in your ear, they can only keep crawling further in. Then they panic and start scratching, which is extremely painful and you can only remove it with curved tweezers b/c it'll go past the curve in your ear canal. Sleep tight.

Well....I’m screwed because my husband has refused to trim trees over the past 20....We live in N.Y. so spring and summer last only a few months....The Oak and Maples have continuously grown and now block all sunlight to the point of our home being dark after 10 a.m. I grew up in Fl, and if I ever saw a ‘pincher bug’ it was usually in the woods...Orkin probably contracted with every home in my neighborhood...Truly, the northeast is bug free compared to Fl., so I think I may have gotten too use to not having daily encounters with big uglies...That all ended the other night when I grabbed my 64oz insulated mug of freshly brewed sweet tea...ah...sweet tea...My one vice of the south I’m keeping...If you can’t figure out where I’m going with this well....I guess I have to put it in text... Yep...a nasty little earwig found its way into my mug, and I, I, *shutter*....I ended up with little, bleep, bleep in my mouth...🤢...🤮... Never thought for a sec that it was any kind of bug....it felt like a piece of thick plastic wrap that I quickly spit in my hand...Nope...not plastic...🤮... I’ve since wracked my brain...How did that little fart get in there? The straw? I’ve never seen one inside my home....Then...sigh...the answer came not more 30 minutes ago as I was standing at my kitchen sink fixing my husband a pitcher of tea....I see something fall from the ceiling 😳 and land right in front of me 😮 next to the open pitcher of tea...Cue the creepy 😬 music....An earwig....I sprayed it with dish soap which killed it and walked out to show/tell my hubby what had happened, and said, I’m 98% sure this is how one ended up in my mug... Sigh...he shrugged... WTHeck...☹️ 🥺 😠 🤔 Perhaps one night he will crawl into bed and find a harmless little snake to tickle his toes... Harmless or not, he can’t stand them...😏😏 Yeah, I probably won’t exert the energy, but it’s a fantasy that pushes my irritation aside...😏
