I need to say this. To all you 20 year olds watching, sometimes you do have to do it hard alone. Sometimes you do suffer alone. And that's ok. It's not forever. You do sometimes suffer in silence, when I left home I lost my family, my school friends abandoned me, and I had nothing. I had no money. I had no friends. No one telling me I mattered or was loved. I had to fight. I had to remember why i needed life. Why I deserved life. Sometimes people aren't there for you. And it feels like you're the only one suffering alone. It actually happens and it's so very very hard. But you can survive. You just need to hang in there, focus on yourself, your needs, what you like and why you stay alive. Soon, you will draw people in who see your beauty, and choose you even though you're alone. Because they see that light. I almost died, i tried to take my own life and the universe said no. It was a miracle. I met my life partner in that time, we have been together 6 years, and he's my best friend in the whole world. You got this 💙

In my 20’s I learnt…. 1. Twenties are the years that you truly grow as person and start to form who you are now and who you want to be rather than who you SHOULD be. As the decade progresses you feel less pressure than at the start of your 20’s which is huge. 2. It’s the decade that will give you the experiences that change you and give you memories to look back on. 3. Life feels more carefree and light but near the end of the 20’s is when you start to ground yourself and start to want to be settled in all areas of your life 4. You learn what you do and don’t want in life, especially in a partner. These are years where I experienced love and heartbreak and losing myself. Then near my 30’s I started to find me again. 5. My 20’s taught me what I enjoyed the most and what things would be part of my life and which things I would grow out of eventually. 6. In my personal experience the men I was in relationships with who were in their twenties just WERE NOT ready to settle yet. That didn’t start to change until they hit 30. 7. It’s the time of confusion, not knowing which paths were the Right ones but then learning the paths we chose lead us to where we are now and oh boy did we learn from them!!! 8. Twenties were the times of making mistakes and that’s OK! 9. You learn that Friends come and go. The phrase: friends come into your life for a reason, season or lifetime REALLY makes sense in your 20’s. Friends are the family we choose for ourselves. 10. You learn what is REALLY important to you and that priorities change which is ok, things that were once important to you won’t be anymore and new priorities will accumulate. Priorities have an ebb and flow and as you get older you learn to change, grow and adapt to these changes. The only DEFINITE thing in life is that change always happens and you can’t change that!!

I'm 28 years old. I definitely feel the time scarcity thing. I can't hold down a job, I don't have a significant other, and I don't have a good group of friends who understand and support me. I don't even have a well connected family. So it definitely feels like my life is a huge train reck and I should have been able to figure things out by now. So this video is comforting. It helps me reinforce to myself that I need to practice patience.

Same age here and same situation. I have some friends, but we've gone our separate ways and only keep in touch with online messages. Most of them seem to have things "figured out"--or at least have more stability compared to me (partners, good jobs).
@rebeccaanderson6560

@@corylcreates same. It feels like everyone around me has so much going for them. Including my roommates. Good jobs, good friend connections, money to throw at whatever they want. In a way it feels like I've been left behind. But at the same time, I try reminding myself that everyone goes at life at their own pace and I need to stop comparing.

I'm 27 and right there with you and what sucks most is I was SO CLOSE to a happy adventurous life but my ex fucked it all up because of ego and greed. He invested into bitcoin with shared household funds without telling me and lost the secure key for 4 years, then when he found it and regained access in 2021 it was $600k. I found us a house with a renovated basement suite we could rent out and we'd still have enough to pay our student debt. We could have traveled, we could have been really quite carefree. But he reinvested all of it into HEX which is even more volatile than Bitcoin it went up to 2.5 million and he wouldn't / couldn't take it out so now it's basically worth nothing. I let him fill up my credit cards, I'm living with my narcissistic mom, and caretaking for my morbidly obese and schizophrenic aunt. (which is scary and entails me cleaning up a lot of human feces) My student loans have gone to collections, I got diagnosed with autism and ADHD, my kitten got run over, and I have no career. I moved away from all my friends and back home to be near my ex's terminally ill mom ... thinking he'd use some of the money to help her but he was too selfish. I lost everything because I trusted him after nearly 8 years. Now we're in a common-law divorce over whatever scraps he has left. OH, and my eating disorder came back! I guess at least I have nothing else to lose except my physical health. I'm literally planning on marrying for money at this point. My ex's financial abuse set me back so far in life and the Canadian economy is so bad, especially for young people, that my best chance of escaping poverty is my looks. Which is a shitty way to feel, but it's reality. I have been poor my whole life and my degree, like you said, isn't helping me reach the dwindling middle class. I still want to marry for love ... but I don't feel like I can be so relaxed about my partner's financial status anymore. My ex's broke and irresponsible mindset around money ruined my life likely for years to come. I always want to make my own money but at this point, I'm only dating wealthy people (any gender as I'm bi), so that when I do fall in love all the possible people I could fall for are wealthy anyway. It's helping me form connections to start building myself a career too. I talked to a dating and life coach and she was really honest and blunt which I needed. She said you must use what you do have to get ahead in this world and for me, it's my face. I want to adopt one day and if I do raise children it's sure as hell not going to be in poverty!! The cycle ends with me. No matter what. The worst part is patience for me too. I want out of this daily hell and humiliation at having been abused by my ex NOW. Meditation helps but honestly I'm going to try micro-dosing mushrooms. I just want to heal and rebuild and live a life worth waking up for.

Also same age and situation, the time scarcity anxiety is real and I cry about it a lot :(. Logically I know that I will eventually land the job I want and find romance but as of now I'm working as a freaking nanny, while working every other hour on my career (portfolio) and networking. No partner, working pay check to paycheck. I'm so exhausted of it and I just want to rest.

To add to Ro’s 2nd point, don’t be scared of failure. Failure is not a bad thing, it’s trial and error. People who cannot confront “failure” struggle with bouncing back compared to those who understand failure is just part of the game of life. The feeling sucks, sure, but as long as you learn from it, you’re already steps ahead of those who avoid it.

So nice to see you and your flowers so early on my Saturday morning. All the best to you, Rowena. I like your content. I'm 59, mere months from 60. I'm just discovering myself and my purpose again. Through our lives, many of us will experience second, third, maybe even a fourth, change. We can learn to surrender, to let go of our fears, and embrace new challenges and ways of thinking. It's okay to not know the result as long as you enjoy your journey.

If I could just tell one thing to my younger self it would probably be to stop hyperfocusing on myself (the way I look, the way I sound, etc etc). Sure you're the "main character", sure life is experienced through you, but this hyper awareness of yourself makes you paranoid and egocentric because you stop seeing people as human beings with lots of layers to them and you start seeing them as mere reflections of you, thus wondering if they like you or not. Stop thinking about yourself so much and be more curious about other people. I'm 25 and still trying to implement this on my day to day. And that's the best way I can explain it haha

I'm approaching my quarter-life crisis, aka 25, and I'm still very confused, but your video, as always, provides so much comfort. I know I'm doing my best, and I don't have to have everything figured out. There are days I feel extremely lonely, like no one else understands me or I don't understand anyone even though we're all in our 20s. But then there are days where I'm happy to be alone and that I didn't go somewhere out of peer pressure. I want to cherish my 20s as much as possible from now on.

I am 33 and feel utterly depressed and lost about my life. I only earn minimum wage, I dropped out of college three times, my peers havs always bullied and made fun of me so that I never had any friend, I spent my complete life alone, every girl I asked out rejected me immediately, I never had a hug or a kiss, I missed out so many memories. At this point I just feel like a punching bag. The most trivial things I don't seem able to get. I have nothing and nobody. I don't know what to do anymore. And the worst thing is that people will tell you that you shouldn't worry what others think about you. But the truth is that you get harshly judged for being in my position. Many women openly told md that they dont view me as dating material because I am poor.

I've had so many moments in life where I felt as if it was the end of the world. Yet, here I am, writing this comment. It was not the end of the world. It is called life. Life has up and downs. Stop chasing a perfect life. A perfect life does not exist. I have learned that there will be major challenges, but none of them will be the end of the world as long as I am alive. As long as I trust in myself to push forward.

yes I'm in my 20 now and so thankful for this video and all the sharing comments of others. 20 is so crazy, I want to experience everything, hang out with every people and go to as many places as possible. yet, I hardly spend time to really listen to myself and know the real voice inside me. I guess 21 is time for that 🥰

As someone whose approaching their mid twenties (which lowkey kinda scares me because I still feel like I'm floundering around and haven't found my direction), that first point hit me, it was something that I knew for myself but I also loved the perspective you brough to it. Especially when you started asking all those ""why" questions, that felt like a personal attack haha. 😅

This was beyond helpful.. I'm 26 and loneliness is probably the exact word I would use to label my 20s so far especially my later 20s. You put so many of my fears into perspective and especially about the reaching out for help not having to do it alone that is probably what I struggle with the most, but I want to try to invite people who are trustworthy into my heart fortress - so thank you for sharing

i've avoided this video for almost 4 weeks now because watching rowena always makes me emotional and forces me to actually feel the feelings i supress almost all the time. now i'm here physically exhausted and drained and have no other excuse not to watch this bc i literally cannot move and do anything for myself. i think (in my belief) God uses rowena as an instrument/vessel to make me realize things i have been overlooking in my life. the talk about superobjectives and attachment to my deepest desire made me soooo emotional bc i feel like i have been asking and begging God nonstop for this thing i wanna achieve in my life, knowing that i'm still so young and that there could be better things for me. hearing that my desires would always regrow as i rediscover myself gave me comfort in thinking i dont have to lock myself in that certain box of achievement i desire. i FOR REAL need to let go. thank you for this! can't believe i'm always in a vulnerable state whenever watching rowena's videos. but i know it's my own doing and maybe God's will too. lol

I love the story of Bob Iger because he is such a hero of mine in the business realm. He's definitely always seemed like a kind-hearted and humble guy so I love that she overheard him in a moment of self-doubt. "Everybody's winging it" speaks to me today as a mid-30s woman who had it all together, but am realizing now that I want to reinvent so many things! Thanks for this, Rowena

I felt if I wasn't stressing I was doing something wrong. I needed to plan 10 steps ahead before I could take 1 step. After my dad died, I saw life differently. Yes, I can plan, but if I'm not enjoying my current moment, who's to say I'll be happy once I reach that goal. I spent my whole life wishing to be in my next stage in life. I didn't know how to enjoy the current moment. I would plan for the future while wishing to be in the past.

I just turned 20 on January 18 this year, and I suddenly felt the urge to grow up. I really loved your advice because it all resonates deeply with me. I took a gap semester after my first year of university because I wanted to reflect on whether or not I truly wanted to study biomedical sciences and become an acupuncturist. My greatest passion has always been art because it allows me to create something that brings me and other people happiness/peace. I even started an art account on Instagram 2.5 years ago, but I only have 444 followers today. I considered pursuing my dream of becoming an illustrator, but I'm always afraid that I will really end up as an unsuccessful, poor artist... I'm currently studying Biology again in community college, but I am still thinking about if I will regret giving up becoming a full-time artist.

I feel like this came out such a great time. Thank you! It's also great seeing others going through their own challenges and difficulties. Im 25 years old, I completed a doctorate program this summer. I have applied to over 300 jobs and 10 different fellowship programs, which I have not been successful in accomplishing. I have failed 1 portion of my board exam. Im here now having to study again and needing to retake my board exam and leading to a job, I absolutely despise. Compared to peers, others have passed and working, or some have gotten their dream job and avoided taking this exam over all. I definitely have isolated myself, feeling embarrassed, angry, sad - all of the emotions.Thinking that life isn't fair. I'm learning its part of the journey yet I dont wish for it to be this way. One day maybe I'll see the light and greener grass, but today is not it.

Thanks for sharing. I feel I went through the same thing. Studied so much and I currently have a high paying job. However, I had to move far from from family for my job so it's kinda lonely. So I wonder if my high paying job is worth the price of living far from family.
