No doubt Parsis now living in Bombay should protect their culture - I have seen Parsis living in Iran near Yazd hardly find young ones who emigrated out of Iran while the elderly are still living there. Parsis in India are very well placed while the Iranian community faces difficuties. Whenever I went to Iran I made sure to visit the Parsi villages and the Fire Temple of Yazd. We shoul d never forget those who are living in Iran and may Ahura Mazda protect them. Persian cuisine is the basis of many culinaries n Inda and Pakistan. We should never forget that Persian culture was very high and lived a glorious era in the history of mankind
@QamruddinKhan-hf4dn3 ай бұрын
Babaji, aap sathiya gaye ho kya... Other people also lived in Iran before the birth of Prophet Zoroaster they were similar to Vedic Hindus, according to some they were Vedic Hindus so does that mean, Hindus or anyone similar to them should be protected in Iran and they are glorifed? And please go to Tablighi Jamaat and learn about deen your age is also too much, we mus lim can't say things like Ahura Mazda protect them, Only Khuda or Allah or God or anyword for God in local language that ulema says it is acceptable... Aise alfaaz kehna ku fr he, worry about akhirah sir... And the only glorified time in Iran was The time when it was conquered by Hazrat Abu Bakr as siddiq (ra) the greatest man after our prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and also other companions sahaba of prophet such as Salman al Farsi (who was son of Zoroastrian priest before) and other sahaba... That time was glorious time until is lamic golden age and Safavid conquest when they conquered Persia and forced converted almost all Persian Sunnis into Shia... The glorious era in the history of Mankind was the time of Sahaba and Four rightly guided Caliphs

Hello Roxanne, Thanks for making this beautiful video :) It's so good to see that you are spreading the information of your beautiful community and making us all aware. I have a request, can you please create more detailed video: Like: 1) How the FireTemple looks like inside, why Non-Parsis are not allowed, 2) Your day to day customs, 3) More about your festivals and their importance, 4) Do Parsis still visit their Persian land for anything or they are detached totally from it. 5) What types of different Parsis surnames are there in India, how it differentiated earlier? 6) Any specific music tradition that you all follow 7) Your homes/architecture which is specific to your community. 8) Your religious places where we can visit (I happen to visit one in Diu, it was beautiful) 9) Specific restaurants which we should definitely try. 10) What your priests are called? 11) Any language(script/verbal) which is still in used? 12) Calendar that you all follow. etc... It would be so nice to know more, even Vlogs would be great too. Please do consider making on these content. Thanks a lot. Regards 🙂🙏 PS: Feel free to reach me out if any help is required. I would love to contribute and can help in creating good content.

Yes it's true. Some popular vegetarian dishes are - Parsi Istoo, Veg dhansak ( basically same dal and rice but without the mutton or chicken ), Parsi Masoor, Ravaiya, lots of egg dishes are considered vegetarian in most homes so Akuri, salli per eedu etc.

Hey, thanks for the lovely video. How did Parsi cuisine pick up portuguese influences?
@RoxanneBamboat4 жыл бұрын
The Portuguese influence is really just chillies and vinegar the Portuguese were in india for a fair amount of time before the East India Company and the British Empire. A lot of folks says that for years Parsi homes would have Goan cooks and they would use a lot of vinegar and make Goan curries and we took to that as well and made our own version of curries very similar to how the Goans do. So over all a lot of influences from the coastal states Maharashtra Gujarat and Goa in terms of ingredients or styles of cooking but of course made it their own. Hope this help ☺️

Can you describe what should a great Dhanshakh should taste like?
@RoxanneBamboat3 жыл бұрын
Slightly tricky to explain but I'll try. It's basically a mixture of 3 dals so essentially tastes like dal only but there is a heavy flavour of the meat that adds to it. Also like most Parsi dishes it HAS to have a touch of khatas or sour so we usually use the vinegar I mentioned in the video but even nimboo works. It's just a slight touch of khatta not too much. Usually spiced with garam masala and the parsi dhansak masala. The rice is not really sweet but is caramalised to give it that brown colour. I have a recipe on the channel for dhansak if you like. Try it out :)

Hi Roxanne, great video! Wanted to know what would be the distinct difference between Parsi and Irani cuisine
@RoxanneBamboat4 жыл бұрын
Hi Raylene, thank you so much I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'd say Parsi food has more spices like garam masala, turmeric, cumin coriander a lot of vinegar and Irani food is milder, not heavy with spice and more use of lentils with meat, more stews. The Iranis in India like my neighbor eat a lot of what Parsis eat the same dishes but some are what they consider more Persian in their roots like a gormeh sabzi or a Khoresht which are more like stews and don't use many Indian spices. I hope this helps !

@snigdhapattnayak48013 жыл бұрын
Hey Roxanne, Do Parsis eat beef? Is it allowed in your religion?
@RoxanneBamboat3 жыл бұрын
Hi Snigdha, Yes it is allowed. A lot of Parsis do eat beef. Some very orthodox ones say you shouldn't but as I mentioned in the video also SO much of our history ( written history ) was destroyed so we don't really know for sure if it was ever forbidden as such but because we've been eating it for centuries it doesn't seem likely. We do however abstain from it for one month called Bahman Mahino where we stay away from meat ( fish is allowed ) and are mostly vegetarian for that month. There are many Parsis that also do no eat beef but that's more a personal choice.

The best king of Persia in ancient times was King Cyrus (Shah Kurush)
@QamruddinKhan-hf4dn3 ай бұрын
You commited a big historical error here sister, It is not because of Greeks that Persians fell, it is because of their own tyranny they fell and replaced by Arab mus lims, Sasanians were superpower of the world when our Prophet Muhammad got Prophethood and Persians were about to annex Byzantine Empire and did big damage to them, but somehow Roman Byzantine king Hercules managed to invade persepolis because all Persian soldiers were in Asia minor to enter Europe, and this is how sasanids got defeated by Romans and Persians agreed to pay for reparations... Both empires had one thing in common which is ty ranny, which was against everyone including its own people, people were fed up because of such restrictions and dic tatorship... Also it was written in the books of Zoroastrians that A Prophet would come and they have to follow him, this is the reason why most Zoroastrians accepted is lam after Arab conquest, Prophet Muhammad sent letter to invite Khusrow II to is lam but he tore the letter, he was later kil led by his own son who overthrown his government and started more ty ranny and even challenged mus lims... Then we mus lims invaded Persia and companions of Prophet conquered Persia .. one of the companion who was a commander was Salman the Persian, he told Persians that oh the people of Persia, I am among your community, these Arabs had racial supremacy and never wanted anyone else, now accepted me as a commander, if this is not a prove that we are not fighting for our own materialistic benefits but for one true God then what else is it?... They already believed in Prophet Zoroaster so they accepted new prophet i.e Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and all other prophets before him both is raelites and non is raelite prophets, small numbers of them refused to convert but still lived there Now coming to the persecution part, it never happened during the time of First four caliphs, not even after it was conquered otherwise nobody would have accepted is lam, it likely to happened after death of 5th Caliph and 6th Caliph was Yazid the cruel under whose rule Grandson of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) hazrat Imam Hussain (ra) got martyrdom, do you know about Karbala? many companions of prophet got martyrdom under the reign of those ty rants such Yazid, and also Governor Hajjaj bin Yusuf, Parsis are likely persecuted during this period and even after that some cruels came, Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz came and stopped all blunders made by previous tyrant caliphs came after yazid, during his rule nobody was left to take charity but he himself had financial problem, this is called true leader... So bottom-line is, those who can ki ll grandson of prophets can't persecute Zoroastrians? Zoroastrians are nothing in front of imam hussain... As for Irani migration during colonial period so that was Qajar era, they used to perse cute iranis, that was a time when Sunni had no rule, A dynasty called Safavid conquered Iran from Sunnis and forced converted them into shia, so those who can force convert Sunnis and turn it into shia nation would spare Zoroastrians and let them to live freely? Even Sunnis can't live in peace in Iran

I hear they r decreasing in numbers because they do not marry outside community we appriciate the great Parsi community for their contribution to India their adopted country pl intermarriage should b allowed for increase in the Parsi population as Indians too hold fire as sacred Arya Samaritan community worship ,we call it havan nholdit as sacred too.
