I thought that I had viewed all your tutorials but no, there's this fantastic thing. Who knew you could do this? What a wonderful invention you are, and the magnets also. I have often thought that I don't want buttons although a chain hooked on each side or a magnet perhaps and here you are with all the details. I am so pleased that you're able to do these, you are a blessing. Take care.

This is amazing and also really useful. As someone with quite severe difficulties, anything that makes dressing easier is always a bonus. While I can certainly manage buttons, this kind of closure might end up being a real boon for others with limited finger and hand mobility too!

This is great, thanks! I think I will use this to secure the finger flap on some convertible mittens (rather than the tiny snaps the pattern suggests).

I just finished a garter stitch coat in 14 ply wool/mohair blend. This has one button closure at the top. Would you recommend doing this type of closure to the inside part that needs some form of closure so as not to slip down? Love your video it was very interesting!

It's worth a try. One thing I would wonder about is the weight of the magnet at the top of closure. I've used it at waist level, where it works great, but given the magnets have more weight than buttons typically have, the magnets might pull down on the neck. Stabilizing the band with grosgrain ribbon will likely help with that.

Does this only work in a situation where a single magnet is needed? Would it work with a row of 4 or 5 magnets? I wonder if several magnets in a row might want to attract one another and not behave well in a row on a single garment. Have you ever tried this?

They aren’t going to attract each other but the weight can add up

What Cardigan are you wearing? Is the pattern at Ravelry? It's beautiful!

Oh, thank you! It's my own design. It was a project that spent a long time in hibernation, until I decided to finish it last year. The two-tone color is due to having used up the light gray yarn on other projects, while it was in hibernation! :-)

Where do you purchase the magnets?
@RoxanneRichardson7 жыл бұрын
There's a note at the top of the screen in the section where I explain what rare earth magnets are (section starts at 3:13). There are links to each section of the video in the description box). I bought mine from K & J Magnetics.
