Last year I made a crocheted christening gown for my son and daughter-in-law and made an inner skirt out of chiffon for it and use the cording foot to zigzag over some crochet threads on the chiffon to use as gathering stitches. It worked beautifully.

Hi Karen. Yes you can! I chose to use contrasting thread for extra decoration.
