Amazing song with lyrics based on Jeremiah 12:9, "Mine heritage is unto me as a speckled bird, the birds round about are against her; come ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, come to devour." & a melody that was used to make 4 more classic country songs , "Thrills That I Can't Forget," "I'm Thinking Tonight of My Blue Eyes, "The Wild Side of Life" & "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels" , so glad I got to see Mr Acuff at Opryland when I was a kid in the 1970s. Thanks for this post

Few performers have captured, absorbed and radiated the divine spirit in such measured tones as Roy Acuff. He represents what's best in America. R.I.P. יהי זכרו ברוך.

@@dennisraymond8999 Dennis, just read your comment which is appreciated on behalf of Roy. His spirit and knowledge of his repertoire among Americans are more than ever needed in these agonizing times. Suggest you hear his song about Stalin and the bomb, among other notables. Best wishes, Dennis, and priestly blessings and greetings from Zion (Arad,Israel)

Watch this amazing man articulate and belt out the words from the lower part of his diaphragm as he does it with passion for a job well done. I remember as a child my grandfather playing all these instruments that you see and I mean all of them, and how we had to be glued to the TV set to watch hee Haw and anything country and I just loved to hear this man. And also George, Johnny,Glen,Conway..ECT..the classics.!! Oh yeah and he wasn't afraid to mention and appreciate God !

What a beautiful thought I am thinking Concerning a great speckled bird Remember her name is recorded On the pages of God's Holy Word. All the other birds are flocking 'round her And she is despised by the squad But the great speckled bird in the Bible Is one with the great church of God. All the other churches are against her They envy her glory and fame They hate her because she is chosen And has not denied Jesus' name. Desiring to lower her standard They watch every move that she makes They long to find fault with her teachings But really they find no mistake. She is spreading her wings for a journey She's going to leave by and by When the trumpet shall sound in the morning She'll rise and go up in the sky. In the presence of all her despisers With a song never uttered before She will rise and be gone in a moment Till the great tribulation is o'er. I am glad I have learned of her meekness I am proud that my name is on her book For I want to be one never fearing The face of my Savior to look. When He cometh descending from heaven On the cloud that He writes in His Word I'll be joyfully carried to meet Him On the wings of that great speckled bird. Mine heritage is unto me as a speckled bird, the birds round about are against her; come ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, come to devour. Jeremiah 12:9 KJV

He only sang four paragraphs of the song. What a beautiful thought I am thinking concerning the great speckled bird Remember her name is recorded on the pages of God's holy word Desiring to lower her standards they watch every move that she makes They long to find fault with her teaching but really they find no mistakes I am glad I have learned of her meekness I'm proud that my name is on her book For I want to be one never fearing the face of my Saviour's true look When he comes descending from heaven on the cloud as he write in his word I'll be joyfully carried to meet him on the wings of that great speckled bird
