It's just a movie. These are actors. Beyond that, even in the story, these beings are not real people they're just robots. AND YET, I find myself being emotionally moved and touched by this film. What this means is that this is an extremely well done film

Self-sacrifice for the sake of another and compassion are a couple of the most admirable HUMAN characteristics. It just seems we can't have a futuristic sci fi movie, series or apparently even a short without some version of AI that is a better human than most humans are! It’s a hackneyed theme. I don’t have a problem with programmed devices that can calculate, store and retrieve information faster than we can or a robot that is stronger than a human. Ascribing personhood or life to these devices, however, is ludicrous.
@davepage27582 ай бұрын
Your argument is simply shot-down. You clearly ARE human yet appear to lack those characteristics which you suggest are innate to us. Thus, your assertion that they cannot be present in the non-living is groundless. Think first...

I’m glad to see comments regarding the ability to understand the script since there is no transcript or CC. I guess it was good but I’m not willing to blast the volume above reasonable to try to understand it. There are just too many choices out there that observe common sense to bother with this. That’s my only criticism, which is really minor considering how easily it could be remedied, even retroactively. She did have remarkable, captivating eyes.

*I'm going to transcribe this for people who can't make out what's being said ^^.* "Are you Roy?" "I am." "I'm falling apart and I need you to fix me." "How did this happen?" "What does it matter?" "I need to know what I'm repairing, okay?" "I'm Adella 4.8." "Take off the overcoat. Someone's shutting you down." "Not already... [crashing] can you temporarily fix my legs, or just give me a reboot on my core? Do something, will you?! [quiet whirring and beeping] I have minutes to live, and only my communications and memory are still active. Only my thoughts. [cranking sounds] Why even bother with me now? I have no reason to be fixed. [quiet whirs] I'm sorry. You have done nothing wrong, and yet I tried to kill you. My last action in life was to try to take someone's life. [quiet sobbing] Why are you helping me? I have nothing to give." [music] "You have a memory. You have emotion. You have a free mind." "But I'm dying. Forgive me." [music quiets, wind howls, then music swells back in] That's the end of the dialogue. ^^
