Back in the early 70s. I drove a truck for a corn and seed merchants in halesowen West midlands england. I had a delivery to a Mr.Roy wood. In kinver staffs. I never gave it another thought. When I got to the address on my delivery note. Nobody was home. So I walked round the back of the house. It's was called stourton hall.big massive house. And I looked through the French Windows. One big recording studio .Then the penny dropped. Mr .Roy wood. I went back a few weeks later and someone was home then. It was Roy himself. He said can you put the hay n feed over by the pen. He was sutch a nice chap and he gave me £5 . not much less than I was on a week. Well Roy I've spent my five pounds a long time ago. But I love your music and always have been a fan.

Yeah, I'm from the west/mids and have seen Roy in Stourbridge a few times, back in the day, a nice guy and he looked like he'd just stepped off stage !

I’m a yank from Chicago born in ‘79. My music education came from my Dad’s ELO, Wizzard, Cat Stevens, Tull & Genesis records, & thank god for that. I love you, Dad. Rest In Peace, and thank you.

Never paid him much attention despite being my music period. I was Led Zeppelin, Stones and old blues stuff. Joined a guitar group recently and we,ve been learning some of his songs. Hooked! There he was, this gem hiding right in front of me.

More un-known than under-rated. The original version of "Do Ya" is the only record that got any airplay over here with his voice on it. He'd have probably done better with more exposure, but things like that happen half by luck.

*George Texstel* He has good music and he wouln't have been underrated in America if he would have not dressed ridiculous, disturbing and downright scary. Overhere we see stuff like that as Eurotrash.

Brilliant, one of the best writers and performers Britain has ever had. I owned a music company back in the 60's and 70's and worked alongside Roy many times, when he was with Don Arden and Jet Records. In 1973 I bought a new Rolls and with one of my pals drove it to Mallorca, and this was one of the songs I had my engineer record for me and I must have played it a couple of hundred times between Fulham and Barcelona. Great song, great fun, no bullshit just good old "down home" rock n roll. And I still love it!!!

I worked one time at Cropredy folk festival as a stage hand in 1998. Roy wood headlined and afterwards there was a small back stage party. I was using backstage toilet when Roy walked in. Only two of us in makeshift urinal. I realised who it was and just said. "I suppose its good now to have a break after that lot". This amazing talent just said. It would be, but they have to get up early next day and get everything ready again for next gig at Peterborough (or somewhere far from Cropredy). It was like talking to one of the stage hands. No airs or graces. What a nice guy. never forget meeting him. Zero ego.
