I understand and respect what you are saying but it's not a problem with the engine or design. It's a characteristic of a big air cooled engine. If ones does not like the heat then may be a smaller CC will be better for them. Regards.

@@bigbearbangalore Aren't we way ahead of big air cooled engine era? RE is just adamant about redesigning the whole engine ground up. Last big change was ohv to ohc. Somewhere in the past they forgot that modern norms don't allow bikes to run for 50 years. Thus few of my biker friends are carrying super hot dead weight for the passion.

It's a choice. Personally I have no dislike towards air cooled engines. They are simpler and cheaper than water cooled engines. Besides, liquid cooling is coming to RE soon.

It is a matter of choice and the choice you make completely should be only yours. You might get the liquid cooled engine from KTM , smoother engine from CB Highness 350 and TVS Ronin but they don't carry a legacy from 1898 to this date. Stop saying that Royal Enfield doesn't care about customers or they don't solve the heating problem. It is not a problem guys, it is a characteristic that the bike carries. No military man is forced to join the army. But once he gets selected there is no looking back. Same goes for the Royal Enfield. Once you own one there is no doubt you're satisfied with only one. Much love from Gujarat uncle❤

The issue is the heat causes too much friction and sidden drop in smoothness of engine. You csn feel the vibrations increasing as the distance increases on hot days. The effect starts after 20-25km . I guess the engine oil looses its property and reduces ita thickness. Like 15W50 used in RE. But the temperature itself reaces to 45+ . And when long ride comes i cannot think of viscosity change oul has to bear due to temperature.
@bigbearbangalore

Air cooled engines of this capacity do exhibit this characteristic. Using a fully synthetic oil can help minimise this heat a little.

While you are correct, there is an exception. If the engine is overheating then it is a problem. The rider needs to know how much heat is normal and in what conditions. For example, the local service centre over-tightened the tappets on my Interceptor. This led to a great amount of heat generation from the whole engine along with loss of compression from the right side cylinder.
@bigbearbangalore
@bigbearbangalore 11 ай бұрын
Yes ok. If there is a concern then one can take it to the workshop for inspection.
@twowheeledparadox
@twowheeledparadox 11 ай бұрын
@@bigbearbangalore Indeed. But the rider needs to identify it. A lot of new riders say that some bikes have a "heating issue" when it's really not. It's just that they have an issue with heat, not the engine. That's what you have addressed and I am glad you have.

Hii Bosky, recommend a better engine oil for hunter 350. The feel of the engine with the Liquid gun engine oil is not good. For first 3-4 kms of riding the bike it feels smooth after that there is a kind of vibration(not actually vibration) that I can feel. Also the sound of the engine changes when the oil heats up I believe. The engine produces a rattle sound after 3-4kms of riding it.

I recommend fully synthetic 10w-50 Silkolene. However this may void warranty so you'll need to find a workaround. 👍

Some riders whom I know use RE oil from dealership for 3,000 kms and change oil outside and use this fully synthetic for 7,000 kms and go back for next service as per schedule which is once a year or 10,000 kms.

With a free flow exhaust and a free flow airfilter, the bike runs a lean ATF ratio. Leaner the ATF more the heat, eventually the valves will get fryed. Consider getting a tune or a fuel commander to solve this problem. Or you can add a calculated valve of resistance to the O2S in parallel to trick the ECU for higher value of resistance to rich the ATF perhaps this won't be dynamic ATF wont be that accurate.

Sir, my 650 in peak traffic starts to heat up just like you said. But after a certain stage theres a whining sound from underneath when I throttle and the ABS lights kicks on. At certain times, the guage lights turn off as well. This again stops when the bike is laid to rest for sometime. Its been happening for 3 years and I still cant figure out the cause for this

Get it checked. Could be anything and can't say without inspection. Get a second opinion from another workshop.

Does a 350cc engine require liquid cooling? Will that be necessary? I own an RE meteor… well with the air cooling system, i do travel for almost 650 kms in 1 single ride with just 1 stop. I don’t find it uncomfortable. But so is my question that i always think … how about liquid cooling is introduced for 350CC. What changes could be seen?
@bigbearbangalore
@bigbearbangalore 10 ай бұрын
Liquid cooling is not necessary but its useful for maintaining a controlled set engine temperature to maintain consistent performance.
