I bought my meteor on the back of enthusiasm like this from lifelong bikers who love this bike for what it is not what it isn't! My Enfield meteor makes me smile just standing in the garage waiting for some decent UK weather !! It's cruiser look it's incredibly comfy riding position for an older " Son's of Arthritis" guy like me with a dodgy knee!!I've had some serious weaponry over the years but a think the little Meteor is possibly the best of the lot and more so if someone makes a full exhaust system in stainless or black chrome that gives us the true classic single sound while reducing weight..I guess it's just a waiting game! Great videos, great content, and great opinions! Steve in UK

Steve In my day bikers loved bikes..big singles. Scrambles Love the tritons I went from a gsx 750 To a 1977 Bonneville Today's bikers seem to Have an inferior complex About any thing below a 650.... This is the gospel truth. I enjoyed riding my RDLC 250..More than a gs1000 yoshi I had. Toured Europe on a dynaglide. Flogged it and bought a Bandit 600 great bike. Love these Enfields. Can see myself on any of them.

@@Mr75044 yes I think experienced riders find themselves looking for the thrills they had in their early biking years..I know I did tens of thousands of miles on sub 250 bikes thru all weather's as it was my only form of transport for many years..the Enfield makes me feel like I did back then..I think one tester ( Stuart fillingham ) said with a Royal Enfield you leave your ego at home and enjoy the bare bones of motorcycling.Ive found myself engrossed in the Marque as well as the bike and it's loosening up nicely now with a mere 800 miles on the clock and they have been as enjoyable as the VFR's CBR'S, GPz's, VN's, GSXR's , Tigers, RSV's blah blah blah.. So, I put 300km on my Meteor 350 for a birthday ride. Took it up through the blue mountains here in Sydney, bells line of road if anyone wants to look it up. And that is some great riding. Twists turns hills and straights. And my meteor is just the little red bike that can. Happily pulling a 6’4” 125kg man up the hills at 60, 70 and 80km/h and then back down the mountains on highways and freeways - 100 - 110km/h without any issues either. Having the touring seat really does help I think. Apart from a lunch/fuel stop I did the ride without breaks and was not sore etc. This bike just gets better and better. PS. For someone with size 15 feet, the heel toe shifter is a god send.

Good to know this thing can haul you, I'm sitting roughly around 100kg atm, I'm thinking of getting the low-rider seat for it, I'm 5'7-8, and a first time rider, I think the extra low seat height will help a little
@scottt82583 жыл бұрын
@@zach1972 I got the touring seat as it’s more scooped out but provides a bit of support up the tailbone etc. I can also really recommend the tinted screen as a must have. The RE side box/pannier is a waste of money. It’s tiny and poorly made. There are some third party ones coming out of India that look great AND they are a matched pair as opposed to the single from. @@zach1972 definitely mate! Mine is a daily ride too. The touring seat really made a difference. I had the standard for a bit before I got the touring seat. Excellent vid Jeff. Agree with all you say about this awesome bike. Had one for the day whilst my Himmy was getting serviced. So my lovely wife and me took her up to the Yorkshire Dales(northern England) to our fave motorcycle cafe and a tootle about the beautiful narrow roads in the Yorks Dales. All told we did just under a hundred miles that day; and I must admit we were both about ready to get off right at the end. That said this does not detract from what a superb bike the Meteor is. It hauled us both around the Yorks Dales at 40/55 mph; much slower on a lot of the roads without complaint. And it was only the final 20 miles or so when a couple of aches set in. The rest of the time she was so, so comfortable. We were both hugely impressed with the Meteor. Yes, it is a superb bike, yes, we would recommend one to anybody who is considering buying one. Mind, she was filthy when we got home, so I gave her a clean before taking her back to the dealers; and like my Himmy and Inty she is dead easy to clean. Ride safe. Neil🖤🏍👍

I just put handlebar risers on mine. I had to reroute the clutch cable. Good opportunity to adjust the clutch, and lube the ball ends. It makes the bike even more comfortable. The clutch needed adjustment right at 1000 miles. I'm still trying to decide if the slight performance improvement of the DNA filter and bellmouth is worth the extra noise it produces. I'm waiting for a review of a piggyback ECU to see if that upgrade is any use. Happy New Year!

I've been watching these videos with my mom, who's 68 and - soon as the weather is right for it - it's her bike. One of the yellow fireballs - but already got Hagon progressive rear shocks, a fly screen, bigger footpegs, and some crash bars (I wouldn't usually but its for my mom) - and at some point touring bags - not sure which yet - I'm partial to stuff that locks to the brackets. We'll be touring - she went to Ohio & back on state highways (from MA) in the Ural sidecar last summer, been doing yearly sidecar trips (my old man died in '07- so I'm filling in for summer trips - so mom can still go on summer motorcycle trips) for over a decade now with the sidecar rig with her in the sidecar and me doing all the work. She wants to ride now, was really good on a 750 Guzzi but didn't like the 45HP as a starter bike, and I want to go back to leaning in corners - so I got a 2014 V7, my brother got a 2020 Interceptor, and mom's got the 2022 350 Meteor - and I'm itching for the spring (ride 4 seasons on the Ural but I need better roads to get my feel back for surface roads). Been touring on state highways, just going and getting lost a couple weeks a year - and a month every four-five years on my own, since 2012 (used a 650 Ural to haul a GS500 to Savannah and couldn't get on interstates with 38HP hauling me and a second bike). Anyway - I've greatly enjoyed your videos - and thank you for explaining to toe/heel shifter in the way you did, I for whatever reason could only say it was awesome, but kept bungling & over complicating why it's awesome.

Hitchcock's Royal Enfield out of the UK sells everything Enfield. They have 3 diff size rear sprockets for the Meteor, and soon will have a 1 larger tooth front sprocket. Next will come cams, big bore kit etc, as well as electric modules to change timing and such for the various kits. 1 tooth up would probably make constant 75 MPH and such more easy to handle.

Thanks for the good review. I'm riding the same Supernova Brown model, and was thinking to change out the mirrors to the OEM bar end mirrors for better visibility. What are your thoughts on the stock Meteor mirrors?
@OlManRonin3 жыл бұрын
Having low slung and bar ends over the years its mostly for looks IMHO. If youre looking for safety, then keep the topside mirrors. Case in point, our daughter Ems wanted low slung on her Sportster and after riding a while I put them back to original. On Harleys, in most cases you can just swap the right and left sides and undersling them so you can try it out. Unfortunately other bikes, its not AS possible
@jericinnamon28573 жыл бұрын
I use the OEM bar end mirrors on my Meteor (but not underslung) and I think the visibility is better. Also, they don't shake or move with high vibrations or bumpy roads. I say try it, but keep the Mickey Mouse mirrors in case it's not for you.

The brakes on my meteor are outstanding to be honest..the bike doesn't need Gixxer stopping power cos u ain't gonna be smoking tires and doing stoppies.Back brake is brilliant, front is adequate and would probably be better as u say with better pads but I won't be rushing out to change these until they wear out, then Brembo pads may be available. Handling is amazing and the tyres are predictable grippy and smooth, so no need for bt's or conti's until they wear out and I may even replace like for like!!

Any old days when shingles from the British manufacturers were popular the 350 shingles are always better sellers than the 500 singles because they were easier to kick over and because they were smoother at speed. Royal Enfield in England made a 500 single called The Fury and it was almost as fast as a gold star. Any of the 500 shingles from the 1950s with good tuning can over 40 horsepower each from 30 cubic inches that's really good.

To complete the antique look it needs four Gators on the fork as well as it needs the kickstarter for every market and not just the whole market and some markets because the Millennials believe kick starting a motorcycle is a masculine thing and they want to Kickstart a motorcycle. If your motorcycle is in tune kick starting is fine if you need to jump high and 10 ft with a tarzaniel to start your motorcycle you need to tune it up especially if you're bending the kickstarter lever trying to start your motorcycle.

OMR, you NAILED IT! The engine isn't big, but it's big enough. Though it's a thumper, it DOESN'T VIBRATE! Long ago, I owned a 1982 Honda FT500 Ascot, and man, that thing vibrated like crazy! If I did an afternoon ride on it, I knew it; I felt the effects of a ride on that thing. On the Meteor, I don't. The most I get is a wee bit of a tingle at high rpm, but high rpm riding isn't what this bike is about; if you want that, get a 600cc crotch rocket. As for the looks, what can you say? IT'S GORGEOUS! When I got the itch to get in the saddle again, I started looking at used bikes like on Craig's List, Cycle Trader, etc. I'd never bought a new bike, so why start now? Then, when reading up on bikes again, I came across the Meteor 350. I was like WOW, I WANT IT! RE's designers really nailed the look; they captured that late 70s-early 80s aesthetic perfectly. As for cruisers themselves (and most bikes of other genres, including nakeds), I can't say that I categorically like or dislike them as a class. For me, it depends on the indivicual bike. For example, I don't like the tank tilted at a steep angle; it's just bothers me, but I can't tell you why. SO! I don't care for the Yamaha Virago series or the Kawasaki Vulcan 750. I don't like too much rake, either, so the Suzuki Savage 650/Boulevard S40 looks wrong too. They should've made it look like the Meteor! I could say the same for the old Honda Rebel 250. OTOH, there are other cruisers that I like. The Harley Sportsters all look good. The Kawasaki Vulcan S (the 650 parallel twin) looks good; though it has a tilted tank, its upward tilt is slight; even so, I like its sporty vibe. I like the Honda Shadow Aero 750-SWEET looking bike! I also like the new Honda Rebels, both the 300 and the 500, but I especially like the 500. I also like the larger Kawasaki cruisers, such as the Vulcan 900 Classic, the Vulcan 1500, and I like the 1600; I don't know if the latter two are still in production though. I like the Honda Valkyrie; that has a good look, but it's too big. I think what I like most about the Meteor though it how it mixes the best of cruisers and standards, and not only in terms of looks, either; I'm talking about in terms of layout and purpose. RE went to their old Thunderbird and Lightning bikes as a starting point on the Meteor. All I can say is that they NAILED the look of the Meteor! It just LOOKS RIGHT! With that, I'm going to sign off. We have a nice day after Christmas here in PA, so I'm going to saddle up... :)

I've been riding a 300 since 2019. It'll go 90+ and is great fun in the curves. Not an RE but a Honda CB300R.

Hello, what can I say? I find your videos about the Meteor interesting and your enthusiasm is obvious. I am just dreaming of a bit more power plus less weight. 25 PS and 170 kilograms sound good to me… I lived in Asia for some time and I am familiar with Indian bicycles. They are VERY heavy, but not so well built as they tend to start rusting in the showroom. I just wonder why they (and the Meteor) are soooo heavy. Besides, when I saw your T-shirt the other day a thought crossed my mind. Possible, you are on the Royal Enfield pay roll? At least that would explain a little bit why you are so over enthusiastic. Or is the bike really that convincing? Unfortunately I could not make a test ride so far. Greetings from Germany, Hubert

If you live here where i do, Honda H'ness 350 / CB350RS is a much smoother and technically advanced alternative to Meteor, but people being naive here and dont even consider Honda's offering. That is the level of hype RE has here.
