Royal Enfield Scram 411 Review

Royal Enfield NZ loaned me their Scram 411 for a couple of weeks to find out just where in the market this bike falls. Is it a commuter, scrambler, or dirt machine? I think I found out the answer.

I have a TW 200 and it’s plenty bike to commute to work 15 miles. Love that RE 411 scram. Beautiful bike my favorite is the hunter for my possible next bike.

Is the oil cooler guard standard? I'd rather have a rev counter than that clock/nav thing. Mind you, my SCR950 doesn't have one. Very good-looking bike. Rugged simplicity. I toured Europe extensively on a Yamaha XT500 when I was young, so apprecaiate a basic bike. I like your gloves. Good review.

I believe the oil cooler guard is standard. The Tripper nav is a $320 optional extra. I’d probably opt for it as it is a bit handy, especially compared to bolting your phone to the bars. Thanks re the gloves. They are Rev’It Caliber gloves.

Also, the protrusions on the frame on both sides act like a crash bar to protect the tank.

As in over heating? No issues there while I had it on test.

Hey nice review. Good to hear some thoughts from someone local (nz). Do you think it'll suit motorway cruising ~110 kmph? Would it do it comfortably?

Yes it’ll sit there quite happily. Just don’t expect it to get there as fast as say a Ninja 400 or something. It’s got good torque so once it gets to a speed it can sit there all day.

@@SandeshCodhadu definitely worth a test ride. No, there seems to be a drastic shortage of Suzuki press bikes so I’ve not ridden any of the new V-Stroms. Desperately want to ride the new 800.

Does the handlebar shake too much when running at high rpm?

As in vibration? Not in particular that I noticed. It is a small(ish) capacity single cylinder but it is pretty well counterbalanced.

I imagine you would fit it ok at 5 ft 4 in (I assume that's what you're asking). As always I would recommend actually sitting on one and trying it for yourself before purchase.

Hello friend. Nice presentation. I too am planning to buy scram 411. How did you find performance of this bike. Is it good for city rides and sometimes for long distance trips. How much mileage does it give . Would you recommend buying this bike. Please do reply. Thanks 😊

Definitely a great city bike. I found it comfy and the performance quite good (especially when compared to the 350 range from RE). I didn’t record fuel economy but being a small engine I wouldnt say it was excessive. On longer trips it was pretty comfortable and it can hold speed better than I expected.
