I like to carefully reblue em so they still look worn but not in the white.

Those look really good. If they ever go on sale at RTI I'm in for one
@texascastblast50112 жыл бұрын
Thank you, the original price was 500 but I think they realized that’s insane for there condition
@krockpotbroccoli652 жыл бұрын
This video had inspired me to buy one. I have one of the last 2 that RTI had in stock en route to my house as I type this. I doubt we'll see more of them come in. Even if its in dogshit condition, these are very rare and in 20 years I'll not regret throwing down $350 on one
@texascastblast50112 жыл бұрын
Oh definitely rare, that’s why I jumped on it, I hope it comes out well and a good shooter

@@texascastblast5011 Lets hope. I already have an 88/90 and a 95. Just gotta figure out how to manufacture 8x50 so I can see if any of them are good to go. I've even been able to find some clips on e bay. The two I have have worn rifling but it is there. Might have to use larger bullets or do hollow base soft lead. Might even try black powder loads for the 1888 pattern guns.

@@krockpotbroccoli65 I reload the 8X50, it’s actually quite easy, I use 7.62X54R brass 45gr of 4895 or 4350 with either .330FMJ or .329SFT

That's cool you got good ones. I've only gambled from RTI once on a Lebel.
@texascastblast50112 жыл бұрын
Was it a good gamble?
@ShaneT.03312 жыл бұрын
@@texascastblast5011 It was. Ugliest rifle I own but matching numbers and a really good bore. I just replaced the springs and the bolt head screw. The spring in the bolt was three different springs crammed in there and the tube springs was tied together with thin copper wire. The bolt head screw had two sides filled down so it barely had any thread I didn't want it to fly off after the first shot. So once I changed those out it was good to go. I was happy with it

Is the only difference between the 88/90 and the 88/95 the rear sight?

I’m kinda regretting not ordering one of these the last sale
@texascastblast50112 жыл бұрын
I haven’t shot them yet, I found my reloads I use for the 1888/90 don’t properly fit in the 188/95 chamber so I’ll have to make some new ones

@@texascastblast5011 hmm, interesting. Good to know if I pick one up

Are these safe to shoot with trail boss?

I believe so but I’ve never used Trail Boss before

@@texascastblast5011 it’s a nice low pressure smokeless. I’ve heard people saying these are safe to shoot 54r out of but the accuracy will be effected by the Combo of the small bullet and wedge system
@texascastblast50112 жыл бұрын
@@harryjoe860 kinda you want the velocity to be 1800-1990 fps, I use recycled PPU powder or 40gr of 4895

Mine have finally arrived. Both need sliders, one is missing a barrel band but they are mechanically sound. Do you think these are safe to shoot 54r out of to fire form for brass?
@texascastblast50112 жыл бұрын
I’ve seen people do it but I’ve only done it with M95, I personally would take out some powder then give you the thumbs up,
@WastelandArmorer Жыл бұрын
I have shot a pile of 54r out of mine with no issues. The pressure from the undersized bullet is super low.
