It's because he wanted first and third, not bases loaded, keeping a runner who could be a third from being at third. I don't like the call because Perez is very slow and a walk would've scored a run with bases loaded. But even with veteran catcher knees the play was still very close so I understand the third base coache's thinking.

On the frame at which you can see the glove touch his foot, from the angles shown you can't see with absolute certainty that there was space between Chisholm's shoe and the bag. It was very close and he was probably out, but since the call on the field was safe, it didn't quite meet the very high level of certainty needed to overturn the call.

What an absolutely atrocious call at 2nd base. Looks like the Royals are gonna have to beat the Yanks and the umps this series
@mattyrock24673 ай бұрын
its called home field advantage
@tylergarrison44643 ай бұрын
The inning with all the walks I can literally pull up the spreadsheet of the pitches showing that they were off the zone. But you fail to mention the umpire calling strikes 4 inches above the strikezone like to Soto for example. Volpe had a call that was well above the strike zone, Soto had another at bat where a change up ended up at his ankles and inches outside and they rang him up. Tim hill in the Yanks bullpen through a strike down the middle and it was called a ball then the next pitch he throws is a base hit and run scores. Talk about bad play calling all you want but it went BOTH WAYS. But our bullpen could at least find the strike zone time to time. Luke Weaver stuck out all the royals players on fastballs consistently down the middle 😂. That's called being a "tough pitcher" not a pitcher wanting every call a cpl inches off the plate. The lefty they brought in to walk the bases in was clearly off the plate. All you gotta do is look up the play by play where it shows the location of the pitches. Bottom line both teams had bad calls behind the plate and the call at 2nd was easily the RIGHT call. The heel touched at 13:20 at the same time the tag was applied... Runner safe. If people like you want to make a difference go to umpire school and become one and show them how it's done 😂
@tylergarrison44643 ай бұрын
Look at pitch Cole threw at 4:06. Pitch was barely low and called ball(like it should have been) but then later this same pitch is called a strike to Oswaldo Cabrera AND Anthony Volpe. Don't talk about umps being bad on one side they were bad on BOTH. Especially all the high strikes called on the Yanks. Umpiring was bad against the yanks too. And quit crying we play at YOUR FIELD next due to football game in New York. Let's see how "home field advantage" works out for you. Bet you still get stomped 😂

You can already see the weakness of the Yankee lineup, their inability to string base hits together. They hope to get a few walks in between a base hit and then wait for the home run. How did Stanton and Judge do, how many home runs did they hit tonight, how many times did they strike out.

No player is going to get hits every game. I'm not even a Yankees fan, but it's poor sports who whine about Judge or any other player being in a slump and saying they choked. Every player has slumps during a season. Look at Witt he was 0 for 5 in this game and he had the best average this season for the AL. The critics could never compete in the big leagues, but act like know-it-alls when their players or teams don't perform exactly as they think they should! It's just a game kids grow up already!!

That play in the 7th inning at the 14:01-14:09 Mark of this video ,it's probably one of the worst missed calls I've ever seen. it is clear as day that jazz Chisholm is out on the tag by Michael Massey from the throw from Salvador Perez at the plate. But they said the ruling on the field stood which made no sense.

For those whining about the call at second. Let me briefly explain. #1: If you review the footage using any angle, there is no objective, conclusive evidence that he was out. The arch of his foot hit the bag before the glove touched him. #2: Even if he was out, one call doesn’t define an entire game. The Royals had opportunities in the 8th and 9th innings to tie the game and take the lead, but they did not. #3: I also see people complaining in the comments about the Strike 3 call to Witt in the ninth inning. It was objectively a strike; you can clearly see the ball clips at the bottom of the zone.

whats the point of having replay system, yes people are gonnna say "has to be without a doubt" but like if thats the case, Most playss that are being seen under review are tight and close calls, why even have the replay system if most plays are going to be super close. if that was the case then most plays shouldn't be overturned because there isn't enough conclusive evidence.... just my two cents and food for thought.
