Just bought this antique off of eBay for $105.00 and received it yesterday. Well, I’m selling my Headrush MX5. This thing blows it away! Easy to dial in all the tones I need, no menu diving, and sounds fantastic! Can be setup for presets, or use as a pedalboard, turn on cabinets, or use just effects with press of an exterior button! Makes my amp and me very happy! No more spending half the time I have for playing trying to search through menus and dial it in.

Already happens with the downloadable version on the official website puts the name of the first version, but when you start the program you select show all existing versions, and choose one that interests you :) This is a amazing multisoundpedal.

Hey there. Absolutely. The USB recording on the RP units is excellent. In fact, doing it through the USB allows you to record in stereo. The way you would set that up is to hook up the USB (run drivers on PC I believe) and you would just make the RP500 your sound interface. After I did this video, I started using the RP in just this way. I hooked up my monitors to the headphone jack of the RP and it sounded awesome. Just be sure to read the manual for setting the levels. Thanks!

Hey kpdubbya, this is absolutely true. I noticed the same thing. I think the RP500 has it's uses and is a fantastic all in one for those who want effects AND amp modeling but like any effects unit, there are weaknesses. Overall, for the price, it's great. I also just picked up the Line 6 M13 which I will be doing a vid on shortly. Great unit for live use and it has a separate control bank for the looper. Better for live use. hi mate! can i ask you something? i use the rp in front of a hot rod deluxe.....and when i use the amp function on the rear button of the rp500 sounds terrible to my ears and when i switch to the mixer function sounds better.......some other owners here in GREECE noticed the same .....can you please tell how do you use the rp in front of an amp? with amp function or the mixer? thanks in advance

@BOUZOUKISIGNIS Hey, sorry for the delay!! I think it's all up to your ears (of course) but that amp/mixer button does matter in a direct-to-board situation. Not an answer to your question but you might want to try going from the RP into the effects return of the HRDx. Just make sure the volume is down on the RP. I think the issue is that your preamp on the HRDx is messing with the tone of the RP. By sending the modeled tone to the power amp only (FX return), you will get good results.

@delacruzneili Sorry for the delay in answering. Actually this is a great question. If you're using all three parts at once as a complete tonal solution, you will only hear the tones as they are supposed to be represented through a full range system (a PA system, computer monitors, studio monitors, headphones). When the engineers designed the models, they did it so that the output would emulate the total system. If you're playing through a cabinet, simply turn off the cab model in the unit.

Thanks! Good wife indeed! You most certainly have the option of bypassing the preamp on the V22. (great amp btw). All you need to do is connect the RP500 output to the V22 effects return. That is basically turning the amp into a power amp without using the onboard preamp. So you'll have the RP as the preamp and the V22 as the EL84 power and cabinet. Note, you will get the best results when you BYPASS the RP500 cabinet model. Just choose "direct" on the cab model and you're good to go.

@yashespa hey there. There is a setting that assigns the amount of pressure that is needed to actuate the way switch. Take a look at the manual (I forgot how to do it!!)

It just uses a standard USB cable; the same cable you would use with a printer. You can grab the updates from the Digitech website. Thanks!

@801Current You a usb cable, the one you use for a printer. Then you connect it and download the update(takes a while). The rp500 does not come with a usb cable, you need to buy it separately. Hope this helps.

Hey Neil. No, unfortunately you can't store loops on this thing. You would need a dedicated looping pedal for that like a Jamman or Boss RC-3. This is more for creating an idea or two. Thanks!

@Rickinch21 Hey thanks bro. The looper is great for creating and for live performances. Only thing the RP can't do is save the loop but I just record the ideas on the Mac anyway. The guitar I was using for this video was the Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster. Completely stock. I've owned a lot of guitars and I can honestly say that this is the top of the list for me. @delacruzneili Right on! Yeah, if you're playing through a power amp and a standard guitar cabinet, definitely turn off the cabinet modeling. Basically the RP becomes your preamp. Enjoy!

@CoversGuy Hey CoversGuy, thanks for visiting. Yep, you're correct, this version of the RP line does not include an effects loop. The RP1000 does come with this functionality. Looks like the RP500 is going for $299 at GC and the 1000 is $100 more. For a lot of folks, this extra $100 is money well spent. All said, the RP500 is still a heck of a bargain for all that it does. @PatrickMcAlister Man sorry for not replying sooner... They are two very different animals. The M13 is, IMO, the best stomp modeler available. Absolutely fantastic effects and so many options. However, if you need to have amp modeling, go with the RP.

@ImageRiver Oh ok. So if I am on ballad preset 47 and record a loop, I can change to preset 46 or 48 which is Rockstar. How? When I hit down during a loop it goes to overdub mode, and up stops. Then when I hit the 1,2,3,4 or 5. It just adds the effects. Im assuming it has to be on pedalboard mode?

I have tone set for Gilmour on Dark Side, The Wall, some Hendrix tone nailed down to perfection. Some perfect Sabbath tone. Loops for days. This is def a must buy for anyone who doesnt have it.

You'll need to get down there with your hands and change the parameter using the two arrows and knobs. The best way to avoid using your hands is to create a separate bank of presets, with all the same parameters, except for the one you want to be different. The X-Edit software can be helpful with this.

@ImageRiver I love that series of Squier Teles! I'm a telecaster user as well ! I have an MIM Standard Tele, looking forward to get some seymour duncans on it, and maybe change the stock bridge saddles which aren't that great, but overall guitar that can last forever, real telecaster tone in it ^^! A little bit expensive though, for the features..it should come with noiseless pickups AT LEAST! I bought mine on ebay at 300$ and its in pristine condition! haha :D Peace.

Hey I have a problem with the looping lengths. I start off with a simple measure, followed by another loop of one measure, but then when I want to loop a third overdub that is longer than a measure but it cuts off at one measure instead of recording all the way through, so i hear part of my third loop start replaying before I can finish it. Any insight?

I am trying to find that out for myself. There are apps on the iPad I am using to turn my guitar into midi and it is working. I will be trying to see if I can use the iPad as a pedal in my pedalboard. As far as turning it straight to midi is something I do not have the capability of doing due to lack of tech. The clean tones for mine is awesome! Really, really love it. However the distortion or OD tones are horrible. I've tried messing with the mids and EQ..whatever it's called...The pedal recently stopped working completely. No wah, whammy or volume controls. I know how i did it too...i was tripping, like literally tripping over some cables and to save my Charvel i put my foot down on the chorus and distortion button...it then blinked on the screen and now i only get the sound and effectf

Aah you've stumbled upon one of the key characteristics of looping. Remember, your overall loop is only as long as your first phrase. For example, let's say I play (in 4/4) a phrase for one measure. Then I play something over that where it goes a measure and a half. I'm going to be repeating that new phrase in the middle of the first measure. The RP will only give you enough new recording space for the length of the first phrase. Others may be different but that's how the RP works. Thx!

Thanks man. Are you using the RP500 as the preamp for this setup or do you want to use the VK preamp and just use the RP for modulation, delay and reverb? I assume the first (which is how I used it with that exact amp). What you do is take the output from the RP and plug it in to the "return" of the VK. I would also choose 1/4 AMP because you're not sending the signal to a full range system. DEFINITELY turn off the cab modeling. Work with your levels and rock on. Thanks again!
