Best decision of the whole project - renting the Hilti. Seriously, never skip an opportunity to make your life easier. Other tools with the ability to break apart concrete are good and all that, but when you have to do something like removing a slab of any size, you have to go to the next denominator. AKA, pull out the big guns. Whomever suggested this, they know what's up.

Laser tapes make mesurements fool proof, and you dont need a man sitting around holding the dumb end of your tape. And The guages that support the work piece would make Greg just cutting and priming while the other man installs. also a gun hook is a must add to those metabo guns. hook it on your bags freeing up both hands while you get the siding perfectly set

The Hilti jack hammer is the bomb. I have rented one on several occasions. I have encountered termite damage where concrete has been poured against rim joist in several locations. Looks like the cellotex prevented termites from getting to the rim joist. You lucked out.

Rebar isnt that bad, at least its usually decently spaced. I tore out a patio that the previous owner used chain link fence instead. Had to break it every few inches, then flip it over and use a grinder to cut the mesh into smaller sections.

I put a sponge in a flat cooking pan and allowed it to soak up the paint. I then pushed the ends of the lap siding to the sponge face and simply painted the ends. Worked nicely. I kept the paint from drying out by putting pan lid over night.

Never get tired of watching you guys work & have fun (so wish I had a crew that that’s as “fun” as yours....you are so lucky to be working w/ such great friends!). After watching this, kinda wish was able to use this siding on an upcoming job. Unfortunately, the owner wants the siding that’s already on the house, which means....using T1-11 siding, my favorite 😉🤪 Not sure what material will be using for the deck, or what fasteners will be using; but really like the look of hidden fasteners on a deck. The Camo System is pretty good, & looks great afterwards(just an idea for you guys). It’s one of my go to systems when doing decking. Thanks for a fun vid, until next time✌🏼

We use a 15 gauge finish nail gun on our trim. They work real well on Cement and PVC trim. Not real sure about this LP siding yet. They claim its a better product compared to the LP junk we installed in the late eighties. I have been to their plant in North Carolina and have seen where they make it. I really enjoy the pride and craftsmanship that you take in all your projects.

You all need to start measuring by eighths 1,2,3,4.... and if it's a 1/16th over just add a one 11, 21, 31, 41.... Sometimes called drywallers measuring. It is just easier all around and just as easy to be "Kyle perfect". Oh and for you Kyle if you want to take to a 32nd just add a +/-.

We do LP a lot and always order the LP with the built in catch lip on the back of the panel. All you have to do is make sure your perfectly level on the first row and they all just sit on top of one another. Saves tons of time and almost eliminates the need for the gecko gauges. Just a note for a future project if you use LP again.

Sided my brothers shop with Hardi Plank about 5 years ago. Made sure we did it per manufactures instructions... 1/4" to 1/2" gaps at pretty much every seam. 60'L x 40'W x 16'H building, that's a lot of big gaps! I thought the biggest advantage to Hardi Plank was that it wouldn't expand or contract. It was a waste of money for was supposed to be an upgrade.

This Old House, Norm did a think where he did a story pole with the systematic plank markings and then towards the top last 3 or 4 planks he put the pole up against the top line and angled the pole which marked the snap line for the last few planks and they were even...so he didn’t have to rip the last/top plank.

Even without full expansion, so long the edge is treated and the smidge of flashing is installed, it's probably a good idea to do that on any natural type siding. I know people abhor that, but it's best to let things move as they want. And i've never seen a house not move. Even our European concrete, brick, and stone houses move. Few years ago we conducted a small study on how much a house will move over a period of 10 months and we got surprising results. Don't get me wrong, it didn't pick up its skirt and go to a party, but i sure didn't think i'd see one corner rise, one corner sink, then an odd dance repeat on a heat cycle. Has to do with the soil, but regardless, i imagine a NA style house moves even more.

I like it. The people in Illinois naturally have such a neutral accent, that they cornered the job markets on weather men, news anchors and announcers. The only inflection they inherit is from surrounding states. Here is Texas and neighboring states- every corner has it's own dialect, inflection and multilingual influences and maintains the southwestern twang. I used to kid the Vietnamese at work that they caught the twang as well. :)
