With the driver boxes on the lights, many people make the mistake of mounting them. Best practice is just run wires to locations where holes will be cut leaving slack, after finishes are applied, cut holes remove wires, install drivers, and just shove them up into the hole before connecting and installing the lights. This makes the connections fully accessible. Also add, push in style connectors are notorious for going bad and causing issues. I usually throw em in the trash and use wire nuts. You be surprised the number of service calls I get, at least 9 out of 10 for this style light from people using the poorly manufactured supplied push-in connectors.

I have installed hundreds of those LED fixtures. They work great but some do fail and you need to rep[lace the driver unit. We would always leave a 18" loop at the driver and loosely fasten it so it could be brought down through the hole for replacement. Just something to think about because i do not see any service loop at your driver units.

Wago wire connectors are awesome. It does matter which ones you use, so I understand how someone might question their ability to stand up to the amperes, but in Oklahoma, almost all lighting fixtures come with the Wago wire connectors and some inspectors will not pass an inspection if they are removed and replaced with wire nuts and that is a fact! The fixture came with them and you better use them! Personally, I like using them! Really, they provide a more secure make up than a wire nut! It's those lose neutral connections in light fixtures that are responsible for new homes burning down! That's a fact! Lose a neutral from the panel to a receptacle that has electronics plugged into it and watch it burn up the electronics also! Make sure you connections are all good, Kyle!

Kyle take a moment to think over your installation. I'm a retired electrician with 35 years of experience in the Electrical trade. The cover will be covered by the sheetrock, and there will be no way to open the cover plate. If you dropped the ceiling 6 inches and located the cover above the light cutout, you could access each of the connection boxes to fix any problems that will show up in the future. talk to an electrician before you cover or you will have problems in the future.

I was going to say the same thing. Everything goes bad eventually and needs replaced. I think he should have ran the wire and left it where he needed. It looks like the way he has it you would need to cut out the drywall over the light box to get to it and repair or replace it.

You could have used pot light frames to ensure laser accuracy and then use a rotozip to cut out the holes. I've tried the "hide and seek" method only to learn resilient channel was placed over the hole then the hole saw tears into the channel popping drywall screws and sometimes causing the hole saw to rip the hole making an imperfect opening that is difficult to repair. I'm an electrical contractor and have found the frames to be the best option.
@JeffKeyeux
@JeffKeyeux 11 күн бұрын
You can also clip your led "pucks" into the frames and use them for temporary lights removing them one by one when you need to install the drywall then back up to provide light for taping sanding and painting. You can hang the pucks on the tips of their clips to keep them off the ceiling.

there's nothing wrong with the Wago wire connectors; the installer just needs to pay attention and make sure the wire is pushed in all the way. Make sure they are all in completely, Kyle! It can be a source of overheating and cause an electrical fire! If you have the wire pushed into the connectors all the way, they are an excellent option for wire make up! Probably more secure than a wire nut that can easily have a wire not get twisted together into the make up! Just pay attention. I would hate to see a lose connection cause your new RR HQ 2.0 to burn down!
