Tastes tangier than a simple NES chip, and not as dense as a VRC6...but it's a good light and airy flavor, y'know? Anyone else get those vibes from the PCE sound?

@@TurboXrayI fixed it. Glad I got your attention because I tried to contact you to do a project. I would like to make a definitive edition of Ninja Ryuukenden for PCE featuring the NES soundtrack as a 1.0, maybe even a remastered fake stereo version, plus some reworking of the backgrounds to lock them instead of the parallax effect that doesn't work properly unless it can be improved. Maybe another version can have remixed Redbook audio. Also, English by default instead of having to use a code.

Listening to this track then seeing the comments section made me go and listen to the OST of ChoRenSha. Good shit, both that game's music and this. Might even play the game itself sometime since it IS free. I will say, though, I think I legit prefer this version to the original Windy.

I'm new to musical terms and I've been trying to make somewhat interesting tunes on my 3ds/Android device, and I'm hoping I'll eventually find something that has a good chiptune style to it. But I'm a little impressed with how the main melody/instrument (is it a chord or something else?) Almost takes a step back whenever another instrument is introduced/starts playing. Is there a term for this sort of technique or is it something specific to what your using for this song?
@FusionArmorX2 жыл бұрын
I'd say that the main chord dropping out is because of the polyphony limitations between the HuC2680 and the original Sharp 68000's YM2151. The HuC6280 is limited to 6 channels, one of which here is used for the drum track. The YM2151, which ChoRenSha 68k uses, has 8 channels of polyphony. What was done was that the least present note of the chord pattern, and the echo track for the single lead instruments were cut from most of the cover to bring it down to the 6 channel hard limit of the HuC6280. Also, if you wanna try a chiptune style, one of the most authentic ways to go about it is to assume that you have a limit on how many notes can play at one time, like say 6, and a super authentic approach (as is required here) would have you treat your percussion as part of that note total.
