This could be the best example of why the Marty Stuart Show was the best Country Music show to ever hit the airwaves....

The song says: “who’s gonna fill their shoes?” Marty Stuart says: “I will.” The man is in another league altogether when it comes to country music, musicianship and class.

MADE IN JAPAN was Buck's very last Number one song on Capitol records in 1972, and the last number 1 with Don Rich playing on the song. It wasn't until 1988 that STREETS OF BAKERSFIELD with Dwight Yoakam hit the top of the charts. Buck had 25 number one songs and another 26 TOP TEN hits, quite a feat for any recording artist. I was honored to work for Buck at one of his country radio stations.

"Made in Japan" was written by Faye and her husband Bob Morris, a musician from Arkansas, who was a friend of Buck's that played backing instruments on a few Buck records. He performed several songs on Buck's Ranch show too. He also wrote "Fishin on the Mississippi" that Don Rich used to perform live during shows and "Buckaroo", the signature instrumental played by Buck's band, the Buckaroos.

I generally don't like seeing other versions of one of my favorite songs. But I think Marty Stewart and the band did a fine job on this. I liked how they did not try to ham it up like you see other artists do when they do a cover song. I appreciated the smooth transition between Marty and his fellow singer to the guitar player and I like howche played with out try to bump it up .I enjoyed this tribute to such a beautiful song.
