This is an avant garde showcase on greed. Of how it corrupts the human mind. The only escape for the protagonist of this brilliant short film is through death. We see the protagonist follow the footsteps of the wealthy and powerful until he exceeds them. We can see this as an emulation of characters like Midas and Icarus; how our need for more will sometimes be our own undoing. This speaks to the mind. It speaks to one of us and yet all of us simultaneously. The only way out, “crashing”, could almost be seen as this sort of… stand-in for coming down from a high. Lowering the graphics settings actually does nothing to speed this up. The game lags this hard because it has to calculate all the collision physics from the boxes, that has nothing to do with how they are rendered. The collision physics are usually the job of the CPU while your GPU is responsible for the graphics (depends on a few factors obviously, but mostly GPU based physics are used for fluid dynamics). Effectively, imagine it like this: Your GPU gets a frame once every second, which it can basically instantly draw. Then it sits effectively idling for the next almost full second. The CPU meanwhile takes 99.99% of its available resources calculating something called "rigid body dynamics". When it has calculated all the information of those boxes, it uses the rest of it's 0.01% calculation time to quickly send that data to the GPU to calculate and display the current scene graphics. Lowering the graphics settings doesn't do much as the GPU doesn't have much work anyway. It may reduce the polycount of some objects in game, but effectively the CPU now uses 99.995% of it's time to calculate boxes and 0.005% of it's time for updating GPU data. So, tl;dr: You will not feel any difference because it barely makes any.
