I was adamant that I wanted the G1 until I watched this video. I would spend most the time gaming, so the fact that the HDR on the G1 dropped to that of the C1 means I would literally get no benefit, especially as the TV will be connected to an amp, meaning the sound benefit doesn't apply in my instance. Thanks RTING, you have saved me some money!

The only advantage the G1 has in that scenario is the five-year warranty (if you’re concerned about longevity), but if that is a point of contention, you could just buy the C1 at Best Buy with Geek Squad Protection, and GSP is better in comparison to the manufacturer warranty and less expensive when comparing equal-sized C1 and G1 models.

So you will see some black marks on blue 2. unlike the old panel the brightness on edges are more brighter than the center thus making impossible to show green on edges (it can only show yellow). Looking at it though, the m1 display also covers the DCI P3 space out of the box, so it depends on if that's adequate for you. It's fine for my usecase. Sublime text looks great on it too. Does it not burn in on PC?
@TueenTuo3 жыл бұрын
As far as I am concerned, the G1 is only a little brighter, and that's it. It does not seem worth the money either, especially if you want a stand. The only difference is the evo panel, which most people claim to have gotten with their C1, too. All it takes is a service remote to find out, and you can buy one on Amazon for 10 bucks. Also, the whole argument of the a90j and a80j having better picture processing is another misleading claim. The Sony processor is on by default, and the LG one, as far as I know (a processor nobody talks about) is not, at least when on display. It adds sharpness and contrast depending on the scene, but in game mode it's turned off. To add, the Sony processor is probably not much better than last years premium model, if at all. People hate settings you can change from off to on, so they leave it off, while Sony, for some reason, get's away with it without mention. You can change it in the settings on LG, while on the Sony, you cannot. The only way to turn it off is by using Game Mode, which gives you better input lag. The downside is that the picture processing is turned off, which really only comes in handy with the upscaling features in lower resolution content. The AI picture pro does the same thing on LG's end. All of these televisions trade blows in terms of what looks best, and it's a matter of opinion, as they are different. It depends on the scene and source material. Maybe Sony for most is better for TV, while it boils down to contrast and gaming features in the LG for most. I'd say the LG is the best overall TV this year, and this is what I've seen and why I bought it. I did my comparisons, and this was the best, price or not. Anyone saying they saw otherwise seems biased, dishonest, or uneducated, but the overall best TV is the C1 (price included or not), while others have claimed that the A90J is the best overall, at least in terms of picture quality. On paper, the LG can compete with the Sony, and a lot of people do not want to hear that. If you calibrate the screen, the LG, especially during game mode, can look just as good as an A series Sony TV in game mode with motion just as good or better. For overall value and picture quality, game mode or not, the LG seems to come out on top, especially the C1 and in game mode, as you have a game bar. I've seen the side-by-sides, and the LG looks just as sharp on RTINGS than both the Sony TVs, and this is a comparison anyone who has not seen them in person can look at. If any difference is present, it is barely noticeable. Maybe in upscaling content the Sony has the slight edge, but overall, they can both make upscaling look near 4k with the right settings. The motion is the same if not better, on LG, except for 24p content, which Sony may have a win when it comes to making a movie smoother and more like a movie at lower framerates. While color gradients and shadow detail may be a little better, on Sony near black handling, gamut, and contrast are slightly better on the LG television. I'd say that with the processor on in the Sony, it can help accentuate detail a bit better, but I'd say that the LG can do just as good if not better overall, with or without that effect present in most scenes. The Sony can at times look 3D, but I've seen the same out of my C1. The Sony may be a little brighter, but in a dark room setting, this is negligible, as most setting won't allow for peak brightness, especially in games and game mode. Overall, you will not notice unless side by side in a Vivid mode comparison. The Sony TVs simply seem overpriced, or LG underpriced their televisions this year (both). The build design barely looks better on Sony, and Sony is using cheap plastic. The legs look atrocious in my opinion as well. They are all good televisions and in the top 4 for this year. I'm sick of seeing fanboys of either side bashing the other TV, as it does no good. Strangely enough, I see more Sony fanboys than LG fanboys, and they typically hit harder to justify their purchase or whatever else. They all have good screens in terms of picture detail, and I can barely see a difference, except the blue hue that acts as the picture processing and color enhancer over the Sony televisions, especially the A80J. Maybe R-tings put the processor on with the LG (I doubt it), but they all look good, except the LG has all of the features a Sony does not currently have for gaming in particular. They should have them and stop making promises, as LG has them out of the box. Google won't be begging to watch your every move with an LG, and it seems to be the overall best TV this year, at least according to sales and product reviews. If anyone says it's the Sony, then great, but I would have to question motivation and calibration settings then. Yeah, people will pay for the pre-calibration in Sony, but it is not worth 1000 dollars, as it's a way to get people to buy the television. It's a way for people to see the Sony out of the gate look better, and it does the Best Buy and Sony employees a favor for those inexperienced enough to understand TVs. Sony knows they can get away with it, so they do it. Input lag is another consideration, as LG has way lower input lag, and seems to be the overall package. If you want to game outside of game mode on the Sony, be prepared for 150-170 milliseconds of input lag (LG's is much lower, so you have to pay for it less, even though though the processors do something similar). Game mode or not, the LG does not have this issue, and is easily the better gaming monitor, having sizes as small as 48 inches. This gives you more options, as Sony will never add VRR, as they just tried to and failed miserably. Either one is great for PS5, but the winner for both consoles and overall use is the LG C1 this year, VRR or not. I kind of got sick of everyone claiming that the LG is just some write-off budget gaming TV only comparable to a Hisense, but Hisense are great, too. Anyway, this is all I have to say, but I can't help but want to add more. There's more to mention, but this is where I will stop. If you bought one of these televisions, you are lucky and should be happy. There's no dishonesty here, as I laid it all out.
@TueenTuo3 жыл бұрын
To add, you can then override your television to display the Evo panel brightness with the service, which you probably can do anyway with the typical panel. It adds a pinkish tint when seen from an angle, but that's about the only downside. I just do not see the G1 being worth the extra 5-600 bucks. While R-Tings may not be the best reviewers, at least to me, they certainly do it a lot better than most.

If you want a stand, sure. But if all you do with your car is take it on school runs, a people carrier is more useful than a two-seater sportscar. If design doesn't matter (or the design of the C1 is close to as good in your use case), that's a sizable chunk of the sales pitch gone.

@RTINGS - I have a C9 that I’ve had problems with since day #1 but my main issue is the sound quality. It sounds muffled / has no clarity. I often miss dialogue and it is VERY peaky (normally very quiet, muffled so I turn-up the volume and then it’s super loud). Does the G1 solve this or perform better?

So the G1 does have better sound with a good frequency response and okay distortion handling. However, if you really want to improve your sound, we would suggest at least a soundbar.

Granted, they are a nicer alternative than the classic 5.1 surround system and all the wires associated with that, but unless I wall-mount my C9 I don’t have room for a soundbar. Hello. I’m in the market for a new TV. I’m going to play console games quite a lot and watch movies. I might also play the same game for months (not non stop, of course :) and I’m really worried about the burn-in due to the static HUDs (mini-maps etc.) There are 2 options for me right now: Sony 55XH90 and LG 48 C1/CX. The Sony is $600 cheaper (it’s basically the price of PS5), but the picture quality is worse than LG’s and it lacks some gaming features. (The XH90 also has a 4K 120 blur effect) Screen brightness doesn’t really matter, I usually close the curtains anyway, plus deep black color isn’t a game changer for me (I prefer playing with lights on) Which TV would be a better option in my case? Are there any other good options within the price range? Thanks!

@RTINGSdotcom2 жыл бұрын
The LG G1 OLED and the LG B1 OLED are both excellent, but there are a few differences. The G1 has the new evo panel, allowing it to get brighter, especially in HDR, so highlights pop more. They have different designs, as the G1 is meant to sit flush against the wall and doesn't come with a stand like the B1. Even though the B1 is lower-end than the G1, it has many of the same features like HDMI 2.1 inputs and VRR support. So, if you want the brighter TV that delivers a better HDR experience and also plan to mount your TV, then go for G1. Otherwise, the B1 should be more than enough for your needs!

@@RTINGSdotcom Thank you for replying :) Here is what happened, (this is in Macedonia (north macedonia). I got the 55inc G1 and noticed in the bottom left corner there is a line that flashes on time to time. I returned the tv. Now I am confused, because the brightness of the tv was not great, (coming from IPS lg and than VA samsung ru8 55inc). I thought about 65inc B1 because of the price (its 200euro more expensive than G1 55inc) but after reading this since the G1 was not enough bright for me I can only imagine what the B1 will look in my room. So I ordered again the G1 55inc again. I kind of feel like 55 inc is small for 3meter viewing distance (for movies) but I don't have extra 300euro for 65inc C1 and the B1 since is lower in brightness I am kind of stuck with the G1 (thank god for the price 1200euro). I noticed that the new models c2 and all the other 2's are much more expensive so this was my only chance to get oled. btw if you want i can send you a clip from the problem why I returned the tv (out of curiosity). I kind of feel they did something in the EVO series that is not as bright, some things are bright but most of the darks are really dark compared to VA or IPS and that is not at all accurate dark (took a screenshot put the image in photoshop and what do you know what i see as black on the tv is not actually black). On lagom.nl/lcd-test/black, test, I can only barely see 6 and up, and on all the other tv's and monitors I have i can see from 2~3 and up...and I also feel like the transition from dark to light is not calibrated as it should no matter what you do in the settings I feel like it is not accurate at all compared to VA display. The one day I had the tv before I returning it I felt like hmmm i don't see what's the big deal with oled (and i have been using oled/amoled smartphones since the Samsung S1) even on my S21 I can see from 2 and up on the black level test...either that tv was broken or they ordered refurbished tv's for less money (therefore the lower price) or oled tv's are just not good enough (infinite contrast yeah right). I had the same feeling with the sony a80j 65inc at a friends house..everything was too damn dark and reflections ware awful, it is literary unwatchable even if you have one candle on. If I was scoring these oleds that are top of the line they would have really bad scores. And the speed of the software, how come 4 year old samsung ru8 loads and responds faster than top of the line 2021 lg tv....I am disappointed. But as I said prices will only go up so this was my only chance of getting an oled...if it was not for the bad viewing angles of the ru8 I would never buy a new tv honestly. Are we certain 55inc from 3 meter viewing distance is not small? the samsung was not small but it was bright enough that i felt i dont a need bigger screen because i will strain my eyes (had this happen sitting close to 65inc and my eyes ware wondering all over the screen and translation i got a headache in half an hour.

I'm glad I invested in an articulating wall mount to move the OLEDs down/away from room light sources (windows, lamp, overhead lights). Don't even notice the tilt since the OLEDs have extremely wide viewing angle. It wouldn't look as good with a fixed wall mount (like the G1) or on a stand with the gloss finish on the screen that reflect like a mirror sometimes. Also noticed with the larger size, the 77" looks brighter at the same settings as my old 55" C9 and my other 55" C1 in my family/game room.
