Both of these FG mods (paid by PureDark and free one from Nexusmods) have issue though - the game crashes from time to time when FG is enabled. But they are both working on solution and regularly update their mods. Let's hope that this issue will be fixed eventually or the devs will add DLSS/FG in the game officially. DLSS/FG was added to SWJS, so there is a possibility the devs of Starfield will do it too.

I sadly noticed a massive amount of artifacts even at 4k quality dlss. No blame to the guy seeming it's a mod it's not going to be clean like native fg implantation but I don't know what you are looking at if you say you see none. For me until the mod gets more updates or bethesda implement it them self (good joke thanks) I will stick to dlss 3.5 for beautiful graphics. I am happier just turning shadows from ultra to high to get 10 more fps than playing with mass artifacting

@@logk It's not just the hud light flickering plagues the game aswell as normal black dots and noise everywhere if you spot and look at the npcs that are under light sources and look whats happening on their suits it's so messy aswell as some very bad glitches. It honestly reminds me of using fsr. Again I know it's a mod and i am grateful for the guy putting it in to try and fix this dog game but the visual fidelity hit is not worth it at the current stage.

In short: you can finally play the game @ 1080p ultra quality and average around 95fps with DLAA/FG. We live in such weird times.... on one hand, its great that we can unlock huge boosts and give mid-specs access to top-end visuals...but it also makes it infinitely more viable for devs to overlook optimisation.

High FPS does not do anything if the 1% low FPS is really low, and the frametime is high or highly fluctuating. I FPS locked starfield @ 60 FPS, runs great on high @ 1600p with FSR and render scale set to 75. It would be a lot better if Bethesda optimized their games, but this solution worked for me. running the game @ 95+ FPS was a stuttering mess. Now my frametime is smooth at 16.6 ms. Way better than playing in with FPS ranging from 60-120 and a frametime going from 16-40 ms.

8:35 i've read somewhere in the comment section of the mod, that the sharpening which comes with the mod breaks the games' AA. That's why there are flickering edges sometimes. Sharpening can be disabled in the config file you showed at the beginning.

Hey Kryzzp, thanks for testing! I was quite surprised how shimmery/flickery/pixelated the image was after checking this mod (even by disabling DLSS3 and using only DLSS2 version). So I've started testing stuff. And it seems (like other people already wrote on the comments) the issue is with enableNisSharpening. Disabling this option brings back good image stability. Cons? It's soft(er) again. Still I prefer this look. I will check the ReShade adaptive sharpening next.

Hey Kryzzp, how did it feel to change the 4k native FPS from 30 to 4k FG 60 fps? Because from what I have heard, frame generation causes a lot of input delay lag if the base fps it has to boost is low, as FG is intended to boost high refresh rates to even higher refresh rates for monitors, rather than the purpose of making uplayable framerates playable.

All you need is VRR and a 120hz or better monitor/TV (that has Freesync of Gsync) and a computer that can get close to 60 fps in gun fights. Preferably OLED monitor or tv because they are amazing. Turn on gsync and vsync in nvidia control panel. Lock your frames about 3-4 under your hz of your monitor in rivaturner or nvidia because this game doesn’t have an in-game limiter that I’m aware of and you’re rewarded with super smooth amazing gameplay. Before I did this I was having serious issues enjoying gunfights. Now everything is so smooth and fun. And this is a guy with a 1660 super that isn’t getting close to 140 frames in this game, but the gameplay is amazing. Yes the frame gen tech is nice I’m sure, but vrr makes gameplay incredible if you can get over 60 frames in the important moments. Not even sure if you need 60 frames with this technology because it’s so good. If anyone is curious I would recommend setting your windows resolution to 1080p and 120hz or higher with a similar card to mine or not the latest tech. That’s for this game because it is demanding. You might need to turn down the render scale a decent amount but you can turn up certain other settings and doesn’t hurt fps too much (depending on the setting). But yea even this game with all its optimization issues can still be super smooth and amazing with a 1660 super. No guarantee you will have same experience because it probably also depends on quality of your cpu. But that’s how good the tech we already had was. Hopefully they improve the cpu limitations in a future patch but I don’t really need it unless I really want to turn up render scale maybe. It’s already so buttery smooth.

I'm pretty sure if the settings were set to console settings, people could happily increase the resolution while not having to worry about the graphical settings. FG on my 4070Ti at 3440x1440 is a game changer. Bethesda missed the mark shipping this with FSR exclusively. I dropped sharpening down to 20 and it looks almost native. Very hard to tell if you don't know what you're looking for.

60 fps 1080p on a 4070 cough cough 4060, I see nothing wrong plus Dlss upscaling and frame gen is a gimmick to cheat benchmarks from Nvidia and people are too stupid to keep buying Nvidia where everything Nvidia is double the price than it should be. People were too stupid to buy overpriced 20 and 30 series cards and now Nvidia is getting away with shifting their mid and low end cards down a level and upcharging it. The 4080 should be $600 like the 1080 price. Then the 4070 ti has performance as a 3080 ti and current 60ti should have last gen 80ti performance for no more than $400. Then 4070 has 3080 performance and current 60 tier should have last gen 80 tier performance meaning the 4070 worth nothing more than $300. then the 4060 ti is a 4050 ti and should be a price no more than $150 and the 4060 is a 4050 that should be priced at no more than $100. Oh lets not forget the cries of all stupid Nvidia users running out of vram. Guess what, they been doing it for years. But yet too many people are stupid idiots and buys like gtx 1060 instead if rx 480 or 580 at 8gb vram.

Ive downloaded the FG mod aswell and I can now play this with 100% res scale (DLAA) and FG with well over 100FPS completely maxed out on a 4090 and no dips below 100. Previously I had dips to the 60s in intense areas. Plus it looks A LOT better than native. Set sharpening to 0 when using DLAA (100% resolution scale). My screen resolution is 3440x1440.

My 12600k 4070 build is getting 110-120 fps steady with no upscaling or frame gen. 1080p. Was there an update that optimised and fixed the performance? Or am i just lucky🎉

What cpu do you use? I have an i7-13700k and starfield makes my cpu go up to 100% i have a rtx 4080. Is there a way to lower that or does this mod also help with that?

13600K Something else is using your CPU, I've never seen 100% CPU usage in this game, even with a 5800x3d which has fewer threads 🤔 Check apps in the background.. Usually FG helps with CPU bottlenecks but that's not your issue

I have a 3070ti and I get 60-80 fps with some drops to 40-50 in the city on high settings 1440p with default game presets. I’ve had no problem running this no stutters, lag, rendering etc. while I’d agree that I should be getting much more fps considering the age of my gpu but I’ve had an overall good experience so far. This mod is killer. I’m running a 4070 with a weaker cpu Ryzen 3700x and was averaging 30ish fps in the big cities. With frame gen on I’ve more than doubled that and now run 60-80 in the cities and easily 100+ indoors. Haven’t noticed any significant lag either.

@@RetroKomodo You got ripped off. A 4070 is acually a 4060 that should been at most $300. So 1080p 60fps is what's expected, game optimised. Just your card is trash sense it's not worth any more than $300

Sorry to disappoint, but Starfield now runs at 4k at a stable 60 FPS with most settings set to highest as per the hardware unboxed setting suggestion. Also, only drawing about 150w on the card so about 90w less than my previous card which didn't perform as well, and both CPU and GPU at mid sixties for temp. So no. Not a 'trash card'.

to play this game with my 3060ti at 1080p i put everything on ultra and 100% resolution with dlss 2.0 mod (dlaa), turned on vsync at 45 fps and i'll be playing on controller only so i won't have a horrible experience because of input lag

Mine is 3.25 Myopia! and eh its terrible without the glasses i realised im sad it looks so bad,but what is your eyesight? i hope it does get better,im sitting almost half meter from the screen.Tho many hours without breaks.Especially on the phone.

Hi! Somehow, it's fantastic. I don't know how it's possible but yeah, my eyesight is great at long and short distances. My brother however, has myopia as well and I do not know the exact value but he can't read subtitles on a 55" TV from 3 metres away. He also doesn't use computers or even the phone that much 🤷

He can wear glasses,surgery is always the last course of action,for myopia,unless he has myopia plus something else,that is serious,only these need surgery.If he has just myopia he can protect himself with glasses and his eyesight will be perfect with them.The world is so beautiful to me now with the glasses such diffrence :D And i can watch tv now with ease,i couldnt before read subtitles as well.

@@UnsettlingDwarf Nonsense. Define playable and on what hardware? If you're expecting to get near 100 frames on entry level hardware then maybe yes. Using hyperbolic statements that aren't even close to true doesn't help your argument. There has been a handful of badly optimized games and handful of very demanding games that require it to get playable framerates as in close to 60. The vast majority of games still achieve at least that native only requiring it if you want to push high frames or if you want to push ray tracing features hard.

i found framelocking the game at 60 fps, makes for a great ride. No issues and i can play the game on high settings (fsr enabled) and scale set to 75 @ 2560x1600p on my lenovo legion slim 5 (R7 7840hs, 16GB ram, RTX4070 8GB) without any issues, no frametime all over the place. Makes me wonder if it is somehow build into the game to either run at 30, 60 or 120* (*not tried 120 fps lock). I do get around 55-59 fps in the bigger settlements though, but its smooth so the loss of frame does not impact at all. I am using RTSS to framelock. I am playing with the gamepass version, so i cant do much in the way of tweaking in Nvidia controll panel. And my solution may not work for you, but try it out. I have no DLSS mod or any mod installed, and trust me using framelock @ 60fps is way better than FPS from 40-90 depending on location. Battles with a lot of enemies is no issue at all now.

Absolutely. I lock my frames in all games. Yes, I COULD run it at 140 FPS (5800x + 4070ti at 1080p). But why should I? More noise from the fans, lower 1% frames... It eases the stress on the entire computer and leaves thermal headroom for more demanding scenes.

Tried PureDark's DLSS 3.5 upscaler mod and then this same one you have in video with DLSS 3 + FG and gotta say that FG mod atleast for me crashed every 2nd loading screen which in this game happens very often if you keep moving between missions. PureDark's DLSS 3.5 with cos sharpening seems to be crashing every now and then with steam UI enabled but with DLSS 3.5 standalone mod I can keep playing with out crashes (As I wanna stream not gona take that crashing too lightly, who wants to see game crash every 15 minutes). rolling mostly 60 to 70 in cities and on planets / interiors going around 80 to 100 FPS with highest settings on 4k resolution and F Preset on DLSS. got 4090 GPU + R9 7900x CPU

It is good to see. However, you should have ran it with FSR2 enabled without the mod for comparison as the increase in frames per second tends to happen with that too. DLSS2 looks a bit better but doesn't do much more for speed. It would have been nice to compare FSR2 to the DLSS3+ you are doing.

I've tested it, and the performance gains with DLSS compared to FSR2 is negligible. It does objectively look sharper though. DLSS AA is clearly better

The mod is great to have but artifacts with frame gen are really noticeble most of the time and I dunno if it's worth it at times, anyway is great to have a choice, hope that in the future bethesda will add dlss frame gen officially.
