Man these guys were the absolute embodiment of just an utterly gnarly garage band. Like their whole scene was just so larger than life perfect for their sound. Just goofing off, driving around LA with your stoner pals and dog jamming up and down the beaches of California. Just like parking lot culture, smoking pot, drinking beer ordering pizza pie and really just in love with the music you make. They’re one of those special case bands like Nirvana, oasis, etc. like really their own ingredient that no one else sounds like. And when they turn on…you immediately know it’s sublime. Only somewhat similar sound is when d-boon does solos on “double nickels on the dime”. That sounds profoundly similar to Brad, which I’m pretty certain he drew influence from.

Listen to badfish by sublime then listen to all the fun that we missed by the ziggens. Bert Susanka is a very humble individual. He didn't let fame or fortune ever affect who he was. I met him once when i worked at the vault on pine ave. in LB. Setting up sound check and catering to bands. He remembered me (or claimed he did) years later. I still talk to him today when i see him at a local gig and on facebook. Sometimes you can catch his son at the local skate parks. The dudes skate style is like that of Rodney Mullen. flatland freestyle mostly.
