Surely this was done in after effects? With the original animation being pixelated and mapped to the rubik's cube pixels? Then i'm guessing the noise going on around the perimeter of the mat was randomized and just put in for looks? and then the rubix cubes slightly skewed every frame to give an impression that they were moved an edited?
