Thank you so much for reacting to these clips I sent you and airing my comment! I strongly believe the DOPL (Utah licensing board) should be subject to a formal investigation in regards to their culpability in Jodi's case and facilitating her acts of violence by allowing her to continue to practice therapy. Though I highly doubt that would ever occur. Utah is a study in what can happen when their is little to no separation between church and state. When individuals licensed by the state (like DOPL, CPS, DCFS, doctors, the police, etc.) cannot separate their personal values from their ethical obligations to serve the community, that's a problem. It points more broadly to how corruption can only exist when multiple systems at all levels prioritize certain beliefs over actual people. DOPL and the like are supposed to exist to protect patients and clients, and the Jodi and Ruby cases demonstrate these professional bodies are more interested in supporting their fellow church leaders and members, and the political power of the Mormon church, than protecting the public they claim to serve. It's shameful. At the same time, I honestly can't help but feel a small amount of compassion for Jodi and Ruby knowing they are both products of their socialization and upbringing within the church.

😱I am just a random lay person and by NO MEANS someone trained in psychotherapy BUT what Jodi said about PTSD nearly made me yank out my hair! 😱😱😱 PTSD is very, very serious and absolutely debilitating. You can't sleep properly, and you can't live your life properly without uncontrollable flashbacks and physical attacks. It's horrid and renders the sufferer sometimes even unable to work. She, as a licensed therapist SHOULD know this. It is her LITERAL JOB to know this and to maybe even treat people with this VERY REAL illness. It's an illness- a literal, treatable illness, like any other. The absolute lack of empathy she displayed is absolutely astonishing. Not only that absolutely invalidated that poor person seeking help and even told them they were feigning it for attention, pretty much. I am GOBSMACKED. Imagine telling a diabetic that when they have a diabetic attack they're 'not living in truth.' OH MY GOD. *flips table*

I've known many controlling abusive ppl who use that tactic. They abuse to the point of trauma, then tell their victim that they are just playing the victim. If the victim had been beaten down enough they will simply believe it and think it's all their fault. It's frightening.

Yeah what’s scarier is with parents when they didn’t even think they’re being abusive. They think they’re just being strict parents and their kids are weak and wimps for being traumatized by their “strict” parenting. Since it didn’t feel intentionally manipulative, the child is completely thrown off and confused and since every child has an innate feeling of wanting to please their parents so they felt the guilt for not pleasing the parent as well while being abused. So the kid think they must be right bc that they are horrible and undeserving and unable to cut off the parents out of guilt of not being adequate enough for their parent. It’s a sad cycle

My mother did that a lot to me. She'd push my buttons, yell, belittle me, etc. until I finally broke down in tears... then she'd call me a big baby. I'm still getting over the mind games to this day. She passed away of alcoholism over 8 years ago. Something I still struggle with is that two things can be true: I can miss her and wish she hadn't passed suddenly in that manner, but I can also be glad she's gone. I have been a long-time naysayer of Ruby Franke, for several years before this incident and it has been absolutely horrifying to see our fears for those kids realized. Especially if you have survived child abuse, you could see all the signs back when she had her channel, and it took so long for anything to happen. I am just so sad that even with their lives plastered across the internet, these kids fell through the cracks for so long. I hope they are able to heal some now, and finally get a little bit of normalcy. They deserved so much better than this.

At 19 I had a immediate need for counseling. An aunt set me up with sessions at her church(Lutheran). The counselor's primary focus was getting me to forgive someone so I would not go to hell. That was literally it. Forgive. Forgive. Forgive. Or face eternal damnation. I was raised Baptist, but I'm not sure things would have gone differently had I seen a counselor at my home church. I have not really returned to church after that whole debacle.

There is a clip I saw, but have not found its source, but it is FASCINATING, DISTURBING, and contextually with what we know now is very scary. Ruby talks about how when kids go in their room and arrange their stuffed animals, "bringing order to chaos" is sexual. I have wanted to see the whole thing in context because it is SO bizarre. But when you listen to Jessie and others discuss how EVERYTHING was sexual....
@otiphanyv Жыл бұрын
Oy, I think the source has been purged from the Internet when all of Ruby’s/Connexions stuff was purged from KZbin and FB, but it was definitely a part of her “coaching” videos. Such a sick interpretation of typical human behavior. Not because sex is involved but because it’s a sexualization of non-sexual behavior from a lens in which all sexual behavior is pathological, and then the behavior (organizing?) is being projected onto children (again…organizing toys). I feel so sad for anyone who has been subjected to any scrutiny of their behavior based on this antisocial perspective.

Just now watching this. Thank you so much for your comments regarding licensing boards and their tendency to be lenient on clinicians who commit legal and ethical violations. This was the case in my situation. I was sexually assaulted by a psychologist I had been working with while a minor, and I reported it to the licensing board. He had even admitted what he did to the board, and they still only put his license on probation with a bunch of limitations, like not being able to work with children. He's now working his way back towards full licensure. It's both validating and frustrating to know that such inappropriate leniency happens in other cases too.

I love the *total* lack of self awareness she has. She gets tons of bad reviews, and instead of reflecting and wondering, “hm, is it possible that I am doing something wrong” she’s rather incensed that she isn’t getting the 5 star reviews she “deserves.” And it’s not even just that she’s fishing for likes, which is already bad enough, but she is ANGRY that more people aren’t giving her positive reviews and is chiding them to do so. Total narcissist.
@saraadams9518 Жыл бұрын
As the current tie breaker, this is a tough place to be in. Imma say #2, bc of that one Jodi "control" and angry review comments where she shows the first glimpses at some of the deeper, darker, manipulative Jodi is. Jodi, not JUST in this video, but in some other videos as well, has seemed to take issue with the word "victim." Actually, the specifics of truth, SHE, SHE, SHE, she offered to "temporarily retrict her license barring the outcome of the court case." That frightens me, the notion that, at time like this, she's making moves, to somehow try to protect her career before someone else has a chance to do so. She beat the Board to it. Which is also angering. After the first complaint, I think she should lost her license. She committed the cardinal sin of breaking confidentiality. She took a man's trauma, manipulated it into something else, and disclosed information to his professors at BYU, as well as the "higher ups" , WITHOUT ANY CONSENT from the PATIENT; a grown man. It frightens me; they don't seem to be moving so fast to hold Jodi accountable. The degree of manipulation , lack of ethics, the physical torture, she must be quite the narcissist to be worrying about that therapy license; that "money maker", is just good faith efforts to continue operating in BAD FAITH.
@Alayhoo Жыл бұрын
I couldn’t agree more! It is terrifying, frightening, infuriating, and all the adjectives! As an ex-Mormon, I can’t help but feel betrayed by the church for referring thousands of LDS people who put their trust and faith in the church and their church leaders to a person who literally brought their niece to church duct taped. Jodi’s behavior is so egregious there needs to be a formal investigation of the licensing board itself to determine their culpability in this.

I’m in Ireland. We have a regulatory board for almost all other therapy adjacent services like occupational health and physiotherapists but psychologists and counsellors don’t have the same oversight. I had a bad experience with a therapist I was going to see for over a year and then when I quit seeing her and looked her up more there were so many red flags. Worse still there’s so many people who have had far worse experiences with her (her reviews are wild on google) and there’s literally no one who can investigate or hold her accountable. I have seen 5 different therapists for 5 different issues and only 1 was decent but not super. I kind of gave up. The worst was that I knew 1 mental health nurse practitioner who was extremely abusive, manipulative and shared client medical information with me as she made fun of her client. Then I met a psychiatrist who turned out to be very similar. I ended the friendship with them immediately and reported the first one but nothing happened. My brother in law is a therapist, in Utah, ironically, and a bully. He’s like living with the enemy and controls everything my sister eats, buys and does. Even though she has a master degree and works. He spends tons of money on golfing. I have so many friends with similar stories. I think good therapists are rare. Then I hear stories about Better Help that uses unlicensed therapists and even the licensed therapists are not good.
@jaala1759 Жыл бұрын
@@JM-pg5rc Wow, I’m 64 and it sure seems there is more bullying going on nowadays without consequences or maybe I just see it more because of the internet connecting us. Now that you mention it, I have an old friend who’s sister is married to a psychiatrist and he is so controlling that she is just a shell of herself but she won’t leave because of the lifestyle he provides her. Sad because people really could use some expertise with mental illness but those personalities come through during therapy, although that can be found in every area of life.
@JM-pg5rc Жыл бұрын
@@jaala1759 Unfortunately, I think the occupation attracts people with those traits or who are mentally ill themselves so looking for answers. Then they take what they learn about human psyche and use it to manipulate. Before I spent time with them as an adult, my view of my brother in law was very different. I was told he was helping my sister by doing all the shopping and he was a great dad. While visiting, I found out he did the grocery shopping to maintain control of what was eaten and how much money was spent. My sister nearly had a breakdown when she thought he had thrown my bread away (he thinks it’s too much carbs) and she was too scared to buy 100% cranberry juice because it was more expensive. But then he came home and wanted to go to a fancy restaurant for dessert. None of it made sense. At the restaurant he bullied and made fun of me because of my dietary restrictions. I could only eat berries but was happy with it. We are talking about a man in his 50s. She wasn’t allowed to have a cell phone either! The only vacations they go on are for him to golf. She doesn’t even join him. And an entire closet is devoted to his golf shirts. You never really know people until you stay with them for an extended period of time. They both couldn’t hide his controlling ways. It really made me concerned for the clients.

The right therapist for the right person can make all the difference in the world to a person. A lot of it has to do with you and what you bring to the therapist, but a person can click better with certain people. Even a poor therapist can make a big difference with the person who is ready for change, and the best therapist can have a poor result if the person is coming for the wrong reasons i.e. for somebody else.

I just wanted to comment on the first clip, with the comment about therapy going well at first then getting worse, with another alternative as to why people feel that way sometimes. I think it’s not always that the therapist is incompatible, but it can be that in the beginning there’s an excitement and eagerness to better yourself etc, and then when you start getting into some things that you had previously been avoiding, it can FEEL like things are worse. It’s kind of like if your room is a mess and you finally decide to really tackle it, and you’re feeling motivated…until you start pulling things out from under the bed and you see the full extent of what you’re dealing with, and then it’s just easier to just shove it all back under the bed. Anytime you’re doing a true deep cleaning, it tends to get messier before it’s actually clean. I think the same generally goes for your mental and emotional mess-probably somewhat in proportion to the degree a person avoids the mess

The Mormon church has its own built in neurosis that complicates making progress on getting help with children or parenting problems. Ruby displays a penchant for enjoying the suffering of her children, including denying them Christmas, taking doors of LDS of bathrooms, making her son sleep on the floor and take away his bedroom, probably sex shaming the teens, and starving her children as punishment for them simply being children. This woman belongs in prison. The husband abandoned his children to this woman. He needs to be held accountable too. The counselor also needs to be in prison. And the Mormon church needs to stop protecting the parents. The his family was prized in the hierarchy because they were “perfect.” That alone should have been a very big red flag. The children Ned to be placed with non family members and non Mormons. Give them a fresh start.

Not different from if she ran a side hustle walking dogs--its unrelated to her clinical license. (Or so the loophome allows for....) It's vile. Also, almost no one mentions this, but a Master's in Educational Psychology has NO training in therapy! Utah let her practice as a clinician with a substandard degree. (Not to say there's anything wrong with a Master's in Ed Psych, but its half as long, and teaches about learning theory, lifespan development, designing effective curriculums, etc. It's entirely different from a clinicial degree.)

All they know are snippets of his clips where he claps back at feminists, lgbtq+ etc I'm baffled that his and the likes of this Jodi deliberately go online with their beliefs while being unethical, unprofessional grooming and molding people shamelessly..... and the regulating bodies wait until a kid runs to their neighbour to scape captivity and ask for food and water and then they're like: "oops, I guess the police and news media got in so we might as well start to investigate" I agree with the theory that the system is maybe underfunded/understaffed but the system itself is broken insofar that there is few ways for people make a psychologist/councilor/therapist be held accountable for misconduct

This video about the reviews, i think is one of the best ones to show exactly how disturbed this woman is! The point of reviews is to be honest with your experience as a client. If you're getting 1star reviews, the problem isnt the clients, the problem is with the therapist(Hildabrant) she should be reading the 1star reviews and asking herself, what do i need to change about my work to help people bettet, so i can get better reviews. Im a high school dropout and I get it!!

If Jodie spoke to me this way , I'd tell her she takes herself way too seriously and walk away...

The insane part is that from my knowledge thet weren't going to take it from her at all. She willingly gave it up to try to make herself look better.

How Jodi reacts in her video about reviews is so hostile, I can't even imagine how psycho she gets with innocent people she is working with, and how scary she is. I do find it funny how she just cannot wrap her brain around the idea that anyone would think she's less than amazing.

Wow 8:12 it’s not hard to believe that this is the lady where they found the kids abused in her care… she’s abusive to her audience just about leaving reviews o.O damn those poor kids imagine being in this ladies care :/ we think this is bad but imagine if she will upload this what is she like off camera. So heartbreaking 💔 praying for those kids to heal and find some peace

What is Jodi running away from during her meltdown over reviews? She titled her book after this psychopathy in herself: one star reviews make her feel like she’s “not enough” and it triggers a panic response.

YUCK at her comments about PTSD. As someone with diagnosed PTSD, absolutely not. No one asks to be traumatize or "likes being a victim". So gross.

To add an update, I believe Jodi voluntarily surrendered her license after her arrest. Not sure what that means in terms of whether she can get it back in the future.

people were being told to talk to this "therapist " and she knew she had some kind of guarunteed control and influence due to that and allegedly abused the power. This situation with these two is revealing how controlling and Damaging the cult is.This is the person they chose to guide And influence paritioners think about that.Also are there other assigned counselours right now, advising the same things?

This is a therapist who couples were sent to by their Church, paid for by the Church. I feel that the Church also needs to be held accountable for the harm Jodi was allowed inflict on couples, couples who only came across Jodi because she was rubber stamped by the Chruch as someone who would be able to help them. Jodi uses the word TRUTH all the time, this woman would not know the TRUTH if it bit her on the arse. I hope she and Ruby rot in jail.

The way she gets so incensed about the 1 star reviews just shows that they know they deserve them imo

can i ask how she was licensed ???????

Unfortunately, it's not difficult to get licensed (grad school, etc.). The problem is: why wasn't she investigated effectively after the licensing board received complaints?

Of course normal people think she’s whacked! Even people that aren’t therapists know she’s whacked !!! I’m telling you it’s the Morman church doctrine into a twisted Jodi narrative. I hope she goes to prison, if not she should be totally canceled out and is miserable and alone the rest of her life.

"Maybe you like being a victim-" booooooooo! Jodi should not be allowed anywhere near psych patients, period.

No sympathy at all . They are both narcissistic sadist and are very intelligent. No stupid or naive . It’s all about money and power . It would take a little innocent 12 year old to take them down !!!! Thank goodness.
