I love that you are doing so much during a day (productive or not) and dont see you much on social media. So many people spent their days with hanging on a couch and scrolling through nonsense. Its so refreshing to see someone not doing that but instead spending the time with reading, walking, baking, cleaning, visiting family etc. 😊 love it.

Hey Ruby! I'm a self taught polyglot currently working on my 8th and 9th languages (Icelandic and Russian respectively), so I thought I would share a few of my best language learning tips. I'm an input based learning (also known as immersion, though I'm not around people who speak my target languages sadly). 1. Focus on watching shows and reading books. 2. Avoid books you now well enough to quote more than a handful of lines. Books you know too well will lead to you using the words you know was cues for remembering the next sentence or two, which leaves you with an illusion of understanding the language. 3. Avoid subtitles in English! These might seem helpful, but they give the subconscious an easy way out instead of forcing it to untangle the language. 4. Don't translate more than a handful of words while reading/watching a show. The goal is not to process the new language through the lens of English. The new language needs to take on meaning of it's own, separate in your mind from English. This works best if you only look up a few essential words here and there, and mostly let the subconscious puzzle it out. You can actively try to understand if you want, but leaning back and passively listening or reading works wonders as well. 5. Be patient! Especially with input methods, you won't notice much progress at first, perhaps for months. The break through comes around the A2/B1 level. At this point, input based learners start to progress rapidly, while those using other methods stop seeing much improvement. Best of luck!

Hey! For translating latin, 'Wiktionary' is really good as it gives you the declension chart etc. plus it shows you its etymology which is very useful in linking new words with words you have already learnt. Another good dictionary is 'Lexidium' as it also shows you examples of where the word has been used within the Latin Corpus. Hope this helps! Google translate can sometimes be a bit loose.

Omg that quote about perfectionism and procrastination was so relatable! I’ve been struggling with a lot of procrastination lately with final projects for school and it’s reassuring to think about it in a different light, knowing that I care about it which is why I procrastinate it. The five minute rule is definitely helpful!! Doing a task just takes getting over that initial energy input to get started, but then once you have momentum going, it feels much more doable. (Also breaking it up into smaller chunks helps.) Thank you for a lovely video Ruby!! Made my day 💕🌷

Hello Ruby, maybe you go more in depth about your approach to studying Lating elsewhere or I simply got it wrong from this video but the best advice I can give you when translating is always start from verbs. Once you have the one(s) of the main sentence, look for subordinates. Then search for subjects (starting again from the main sentence) and after that look for complements. It will save you time and it's the method we were taught in school, you follow the logical structure of the propositions rather than the order of the words. Good luck and thank you for the content you keep providing us, I've been following you for years :')

Hii Ruby! Just a tip for you. In your video it seems that your IMAC is on a really hight brightness and the blue light is coming through extra hard , which can be harmful for your eyes and it can disturb your sleep. Especially when you work in a dark environment (after dusk). I see that you have blue filter in your glasses, however this might not be enough. What I always do, is I turn on Night Shift (which can also be set to turn on automatically from dusk until dawn) and set the screen to a very warm tone colour. If you also turn down the brightness of your IMAC just a little, you will experience an incredible difference. Your eyes will be much more rested. I hope this will help you! 💗

When I was learning Latin in high school, we would first translate simple sentences from our mother tongue to Latin; as I progressed, I stated with something simple (ish, meaning, not Cicero or the great poets): De bello gallico by Julius Caesar (On the Gallic War) and De bello civili (On the Civil War); they're not very philosophical, Caesar just explains how he conquered Gallia in the first one; lost of military terms, but overall accessible syntax in both of them. In my opinion, it is better to work with authentic material.
