Public servants need a 1 year course on HIPAA laws and our 1st and 4th Amendment. Matter of fact send them all back to school for a min of 2 yrs before they can serve.

@@tugmeboat Yes and no. In my state, it takes 6 weeks to get through your EMT class and all you have to do is the state exam and practical and boom, you hold lives in your hands. It's not exactly focused on in that time. I know it well because I took medical classes since high school and we had a whole chapter and exam dedicated to HIPAA. I disagree with such a short training span. When I went through it at 6 months of training, I thought that was even an absurdly short time. There were points where it was literally up to me and my partner to keep people alive until we got to the hospital. Having that kind of responsibility should not be given so lightly. But I also made less than $1 above minimum wage at that time too, so I can understand why it's that short.

This is a lot of the problem that many people chalk up to "EGO". It's not ego. These cops dress up like they are late to a Delta Force insertion operation behind enemy lines. They "Tac-up like GI Joe with vest and a bunch of shit attached to them.... 5 magazines and drop holsters. They cops carry more tactical bullshit than I carried in the Marines. Here's the equivalent: Remember when you were like 4-5... Maybe 6 and you got a new plastic sword or maybe a plastic gun??? You'd run around pretending you were a ninja or maybe fighting in a war???? That child like fantasy world is EXACTLY what these cops are doing. They truly believe they are front line operators on the mean streets of Baghdad...... Only problem is, in reality it's the mean streets of a suburban neighborhood or a public shopping center.

The police get complaints all the time and they ignore them, the number of complaints never goes down but the competence and professionalism of the police does! The better supermarkets respond to complaints and force their staff and suppliers to improve and the number of complaints goes down.

The Sgt doesn't get it ,it doesn't matter what the circumstances are all everyone wants from encounters with the police is at the minimum for them to behave with a courteous and a professional manner,not bark orders at a member of the public for documenting them performing their duties.This could have been a young man considering joining the force and wanting to watch them in action and if it had been i am sure this would have swayed his decision to the negative which i find a bit sad.
