JOHN, it’s really GOOD NEWS for everyone. I’ve read about it & was released by BBC News on June 4,2024. According to MoD, the 3 runaway horses namely… TROJAN, TENNYSON & VANQUISH were fully recovered from their injuries & are expected to participate at the King’s Birthday Parade on June 15, 2024. The other 2 horses, VIDA & QUAKER are enjoying their holiday at the Chilterns courtesy of the Horse Trust which is an equine charity that provide sanctuary for injured & retired Household Cavalry horses. They will be back on duty at the appropriate given time. Thanks for the endless efforts of the Army veterinarians & the cooperation & support of the Horse Trust for the speedy recovery & rehabilitation of these horses that we admire & adore…🐴🥰💐

The fact is that both regiments were present at the Battle of Waterloo, but only the Blues and Royals captured the Eagle. That's why it can only be found on their uniforms. I'm used to tour guides telling a lot of rubbish - if you get the wrong one - but that was a lot of horseshit from that guide. Maybe as a military historian I'm a bit too sensitive about that

Tourists are impressed by the size of the horses, but someone needs to educate these people that these horses weigh in at about 1200 lbs on average. And that is just the smaller ones. If it were not for the horsemen who keep a tight rein on them, the tourists life could change from normal functioning adult to someone who receives coloring books for the rest of their lives, if they live.

My Dad (RIP) bought a horse once. You know what he wanted? A picture of himself on the horse. That was it. 😠 I had no idea about how to take care of a horse and this was before Google or Computers. I did the best I could for "Shorty". That was about 40 years ago. I did have a bond with that horse. I was told he was a mean horse, but he never was to me. Although when I was walking him, he would headbutt my shoulder. He knew where I kept his treats. 😂 I never rode him and I think he appreciated that. He was a really cool horse. Always listened to my troubles and was as gentle as could be with me. Seeing these horses makes me realize why he was called Shorty. ❤

For The Blues and Royals, these traditions include calling its newest officers cornets, not second lieutenants. The regiment also wears a French eagle as its sleeve badge, a tradition inherited from the 1st Dragoons, who captured one at Waterloo (1815).

Great short movie on the British Army's Instagram page, thank you so much for posting here!😀 The musical score was so well chosen and i loved the fact that they indicated which horse is which. That's so good especially for people who don't follow Horse Guards-related KZbin channels but have heard/seen the story a month and a half ago and were wondering what is going on with them. My sister is one of those people, she got to know Vida and Quaker as "the white horse with so much blood on it and the black horse" (quoted form her) because i had told her which is which. But she didn't know the other horses yet she had been asking me about news regarding them. So it was great that she could see all 5 of them, when i shared the link. The French teacher was one of the best, if not the best i've seen at Horse Guards, he managed to keep all of them in line, with short and strict commands, almost army-like😅😅 "You sit here, you sit there, you come here (when posing for pictures that he himself was taking), you and you are next, don't step into that space, it's forbidden" etc That's why the group moved seamlessly. Bravo to him!🥳 Chapeau bas, as they say in French!

Checking back through my thesis notes there were 2 French Eagles captured at Waterloo - neither of them, despite his boasting, by the Prince Regent. Neither was he the first through the breach at the Battle of Talavera despite the number of times he regaled his dinner guests with tales of his heroism. The most heroic thing he ever did was limiting himself to only having one steak for breakfast rather than two - if you don’t count wearing a kilt. The real eagle capturing heroes were Ensign Charles Ewart of the Scot’s Greys and the other was Captain Alexander Kennedy Clark of the 1st Royal Dragoons - now the Blues & Royals. Both divisions of the Household Cavalry were positioned at Wellington’s centre during the battle as part of Lord Somerset’s Household Brigade.

The sign says the horse bites and kicks and don't touch the reigns, so that means touch at your own risk. Trinity seems to enjoy the attention. I think as long as they are respectful, and kind and don't get upset if they get bit or kicked. If you stand too close to the fire you can't complain about it burning you.

Wouldn't it be fun to have the number of the phone box and phone it, someone answers, and you pretend to be the king! 😂 so tempting!

Wonderful to find out the horses name . Perfect if you can show the horses from the side view just to see the socks if they have any. Then we can identify easier. They is definitely a gelding. Hahahha😂. I think I saw Rarden and Tyranny coming in. 😊. Hello Trinity and Titus😊

Trinity was an absolute pleasure to watch. Very regal, alert, and didn't spook, when that brain dead idiot with the briefcase, walked through. Bless the veterinarians and staff who saw to the recovery and rehab, of Vida & Quaker, and worked tirelessly. It's certainly good news, of their returning to duty. Continued recovery for the others involved as well.

Every time you say, Trinity, the horse looks at you. Edit: Trinity is definitely a male gelding because mares just don't have that style of piping when they pee. I am surprised the dude who touched the guard's boot, didn't get yelled out.

Maybe Trinity really likes it up front because there's lots to see.😁 The next rider of that particular lime-bike probably wondered, "Huh, I didn't know lime-bikes came with a cup of coffee. How generous."

I think Trinity is a very clever horse, she knew exactly how to keep the tourists at bay! I felt for the soldier though, peew! Do you know anything of the injuries Quaker had? I saw an HCav Black on the day, having hit a bus & taxi or car, being held by a member of the public, presumably waiting for help to arrive. He\she was shaking with shock but it was the blood dripping from under the belly which scared me. Everyone was concerned for Vida, quite naturally as it was so graphic, but the dark coats hide blood. Thank goodness both are recovered. Thanks for keeping us posted.

From a little research what I found is that only Grey captured Napoleon's Eagles, and there were two of them that they captured. They are both in a museum in Scotland, but dang it, I didn't note the name to post here. I am an American who happens to have an autistic brain, and we are the researchers (and innovators) of the human race. I only spent about 2 minutes finding this information. So I can't go deep into the history of it. Oh, and every time you question something like that, then my brain screams "RESEARCH!" I love to research and often will sit and read scientific studies for fun. Though I love science, I am truly at heart an artist.

I love the morning walk Through London streets. I know it's probably impossible But I would like to See Some type of interview with 1 of the troopers Of course not while on duty. Just questions like what did they think about When everybody's yelling and hollering at them stuff like that Little things I would find interesting As I said It is it is probably impossible.

It's nice seeing the red phone boxes lots have been converted into mini libraries, where you donate and borrrow books. I remember the huge telephone directories, with every name listed, and the queue to make a call. And asking the operator if we could reverse the charges. Technology has changed so much.

Hi John, at 46:37 you were wondering at the language, that is Cantonese, one of the Chinese dialects. She was asking him to get closer. BTW, the guy at 1:06:38 probably works there because when the new horses were moving into the boxes, you can see him walking ahead and at 1:06:59 you see him walking into the office.
