As an ambassador for Rudimental Drummers, I have to say I really appreciate your thorough review of the product AND the company. Rene and Daan have created wonderful products and are very active in promoting the rudimental drumming community all over the world. I feel like your review was spot on and honestly highlighted all the great qualities of these pads along with the things that could be sticking points like the cost and weight (and wait, lol) but also pointed out the justified reasons for these. I personally started with the rope tension pad, but also use the travel pad and the pipe band pad. Thanks again for a great review. I just subscribed, looking forward to more of your content.

I wish you would have taken the head off to show the internals, especially the actual rim the head sits on. You have done that previously and it really shows construction details.
@SnareMan Жыл бұрын
Sorry about that. I have had to take the head off several times because the plys separate (on both the stock head an the Falam I tried). It's a sort of stippled rubber almost like the grippy rubber on the bottom of some mouse pads. There isn't anything like the edge of a shell that it sits on otherwise. I think it was just a wooden base under the rubber.
@RudimentalDrummers9 ай бұрын
I can confirm the pad has a solid base with a rubber on top. Our Marching Pads and Rope Drum Pads have a shell with a padding inside. The build of those pads give an even more realistic feel to the pads, but that makes the pads louder than the Chop Pads, Drum Corps Pads and Pipe Band Pads. We did have the same kind of base when we first started, but with the hybrid heads on top they sounded like a cannon😂 We do still build them like that at request. Cheers René

I have a few questions about the pad in general, I've been thinking about getting one for a while, I just don't know if I want to fork out $170 for something. Like what's the durability on them and considering it's actual drum hardware, do you have to maintain it? I also feel like this could be done if you just took off the shell and bottom head / rim of a marching snare, and rested the tensioned head on a piece of wood or something. Do you think that that would give me an accurate representation of how the pad would feel? Or is the playing surface tensioned down as well?
@SnareMan Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay in replying... Overall I love the pad, but I have had the issue where the plys on the head separate. Its apparently a known issue. I tried swapping the Evans head for a Falam, but still had the same issue. RD is aware of it, but doesn't have a solution. So you might have to replace the heads depending on how hard and often you play. Other than that the durability of them is great and they are made very well. There is a piece of foam like material (reminds me of the bottom of a mouse pad) under the head that helps with the rebound so just putting the head across a piece of wood wouldn't simulate it. Tightening down the head does a little, but not too much to make it a tighter playing surface since you are effectively still playing on the head sitting on top of that rubber/foam surface.

I always drop by your channel for drumpads! I am still looking for the best “one” practice pad for marching. To put more weight to my feedback, I own almost every single pad out there. Just have a strange thing for them. I am not biased and I understand marching guys favour the laminate top pads given they are more articulate. That being said, they sound cheap, loud and harsh to hear to the mass. Best Overall to the mass (drumset & marching) - Offworld Percussion V3 (no beads or VML) Best combination if only 2 pads for the mass - Evans Real Feel (Red) / quiet & feels nice - & Vic Firth Slim Pad / articulate Both are portable and lays down well on lap. Marching guys are likely going to choose something with laminate. Again sounds like garbage. You might as well play on your countertop. - beetle percussion / carlos might be the favourite and is different especially rim shots. Double sided. However, I still feel invader v3 is the all time great. Not the absolute best but its always going to be top 3. Good to note heavy marching sticks vs traditional drumset size and tip will change sound and feel a bit but that was tsken into consideration. The rest all sound kinda the same and a ripoff from: 1. Vic Firth/Real Feel 2. Xymox (hate to give these guys credit) 3. Invader V3 w/VML Pads I own Roland drumset Drumeo - multi layered Real Feel (original & red) Remo - absolute garbage and loud Ahead Beetle - original rubber marching, bus & carlos Xymox - stay away. If you have an order, just forward your email to cresit card company. They will reverse it for you. sure, someone 'could' make one, but most people aren't going to put in the effort to do all of this.

is it has the same feeling as drumslinger percussion pad?

I have no idea. I can't get a drumslinger

Do you think it’s comparable to a ram pad?
@SnareMan Жыл бұрын
It's really a totally different pad. It's a full drum size, the rim actually sticks up over the flat head compared to the domed Rampad, and the feel is very different. On the other hand the RamPad is much more portable, cheaper and has more rebound.

Just found this video, if you still have them, would you stick a mesh head on them and let people know.

@@SnareMan what they would feel like with a mesh head.
@SnareMan2 жыл бұрын
@@Lusidous I can't imagine it would be good. I tried putting a falam bottom on and it was just too thin. It was like playing on wood with some thin padding

Can I ask why you don't tape your sticks?
@SnareMan2 жыл бұрын
The ones I was using in the video had clear stick tape on them. You can kind of see the chewed up tape a little bit in the video

@@SnareMan honestly, i thought that was residue left from white electrical tape or something

What Pad should I get? I kind of want a snare feel but idk if xymox is any good
@SnareMan2 жыл бұрын
You likely can't get his xymox pad and even if you could I wouldn't give them any money. I like the Rudimental Drummers drum corp pad, Rampad and Offworld V4 best out of the bunch that I have
