Ruger American Gen 2 in 204 ruger!

Before spring i am going to buy a Ruger Gen 2. In 450 bushmaster rifle. Arkansas u can use a straight wall cartridge in muzzle loader season.

That’s pretty neat! I honestly don’t know why more states don’t adopt this. Inline and the new firestick muzzleloaders are basically single shot straight wall rifles anyway. At the very least allow single shot straight walls. With CVAs paramount, and other companies producing very effective long range muzzleloaders, you can get a 45 caliber bullet to travel at velocities close to 308 win speeds (very accurately might I add). I would honestly rather do away with muzzleloader season and just have archery and a general firearm season. I’m sure there’s more than a fair share of people that disagree with that statement, but with ballistic advancements we’ve made in the last 20 years alone a lot more muzzleloaders are capable of performing at 450 bushmaster level, and some even better.

I am running a TC Venture predator model 204 ruger. It has a 1@10 twist flutted barrel . Mine is topped with a Nikon buckmaster 6x18x40mm target dot scope. I am reloading a Berger 20 cal 35gr hp. Haven't loaded any Berger 40 gr hp yet. My 204 is a truck gun. I have killed bunch of hogs with mine. Armadillo's and crows also. That Berger 35gr hp is deadly on coyotes too.

Reloading is the end game for this rifle as well. I have a long way to go before I get there though. The next thing I want to do is get a stock/chassis then eventually a suppressor. I know one thing for sure, I am loving the ballistic ability of this round in factory ammo. I can only imagine reloads are even better.

That scope looks mounted way back to me..When the rings are that close to the adjustment knobs in center, it can bind the movement of the crosshairs. I have a Arken also, 6-24, and like it also...If youd turn the table to where the barrel is off in front of the edge, that might help on the muzzle blast. I just purchased a Gen 2 in 6.5 Grendel. And I also have a .204Ruger in another brand rifle....Just a few observations! Good groups out of that 204! I hope my Ruger 6.5Grendel does similar!

Thanks for the advice! Everyone has something to learn, and I hadn’t heard that before. I’m a short guy so until I can get the correct spacer for my length of pull I gotta have it mounted a little far back. Also that is 100 percent why the shockwave from the brake kept hitting me in the face. I didn’t realize until I went back to review the video… these rifles have shot really good from what I’ve seen and experienced IF you can find the ammo it really likes, and it’s in stock. I got lucky on the first box I got for mine and it loved it. Thanks for the comment!

When you add a heavier stock, you can remove the muzzle brake and recoil should remain the same. Or put a suppressor on it.

@ yeah once I get the stock the next purchase is for sure a suppressor. That is if I can find one that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Tennessee actually has a night season for coyotes, so in the (possibly) near future I’m wanting to do a night AR build that is suppressed with thermal and see how it goes.

@@deernbass very nice. Another thing, that prairie enemy is fantastic ammo but goes out of stock often and very expensive compared to others. If you can't find prairie enemy, try the Hornady superformance 32. GR or any other 32gr. Ammo you can find. It should shoot those bullets well. Fiocchi 32gr. VMAX Is another option too.

@@deernbass I am new to the 204 ruger world this year as well so I have gone through this stuff lol
