@Buffalo's Outdoors Yeah, I am right there with you. I just finished watching your video. As you well know I am a fan of shared ammo and mags between pistol and carbine. I think 9mm has some advantages over this caliber namely cheaper to shoot and makes a bigger hole but, that velocity is definitely gonna be an advantage with that 57. I think all in all 9mm makes more since but, I still want the 57

I definitely want a 57 in this platform or the pistol. Was looking at RIA pistol and bolt gun in 22 tcm today

Great video!! I dig this platform all around. Bought the carbine a month ago, and I’ve put 120 rounds through it. Brand new out of the box, not one issue. It’s laser accurate at 20/30/40+ yards. Operation is simple and ergonomic, and I was shocked at the lack of recoil. Best $700 ever spent. I found the matching handgun at my local shop for $700 used. So the carbine is currently going at a cheaper rate NEW vs. it’s counterpart handgun USED. (Win carbine) That fact that you can get both for $1400 or less, is a huge win in my opinion.

I'm glad to see this carbine and cartridge begin to take off. When I came up with the idea for Ruger the 5.7 carbine idea came to mind. I knew it would be a small market looking for this rig but if you want something light and handy for anything from home defense to vermin in a light package this was it. Throw it on the atv or in the truck and you have some decent and reliable firepower compared to the .22 mag or 9mm.

I've been a fan of that cartridge for years. Good video. The first pistol I shot in 5.7 x 28 could shoot grapefruit sized groups at 200+ yds. The FFL/store owner I used to shoot with had one. Those rounds I shot were more than likely handloads. Another bench shooter that I knew had a barrel and bolt made for one of his bench guns and he could always shoot inside of .200" at 100 yds.. An accurate .22 Mag on steroids that can be hand loaded. What's not to like?
@fortusvictus8297 Жыл бұрын
respect to anyone who can confidently hand load 5.7 regularly. The difference between min load and max is so small, I can't be bothered with it.
@fyisense9312 Жыл бұрын
@@fortusvictus8297 I can see where that could be an issue with fast powders. I haven't recently run the numbers through QL but I would think that a slower, gaseous ball powder in a carbine would eliminate the small margin of error. I remember years ago I heard similar comments about the .223 only relative to the price. That was when cheap .223 ammo was very cheap by todays standard. "It isn't worth reloading". I always wanted consistent accuracy so I handload everything I shoot. If I wanted to get some factory loaded Norma or Lapua 6mm Bench Rest or 6.5 x 47, I'd have to wait forever and they would be expen$ive.

Buffalo REALLY TOUGH question? Thank you for the review love the details. The 5.7x28 is known not to be for reloaders because there is a coating on the brass that is required for the FS2000 from FN to work. If you tumble this brass or wash it even with something like simple green this coating comes off and causes reliability issues in the FN products. You know I love my reloading and because of this I have never even looked at this round. Do you know if the Ruger and others that have recently come about have the same issues? I do know of some that have reloaded it sure but using the brass only once, because of this issue some say it is down right dangerous to load it because non ejection can lead to high pressure.

Hey Buffalo. I have one of these carbines. They are a great little carbine. I can cut bullet holes at 25 yards with open sights on the bench. Glad you enjoyed your testing. Definitely worth the money to get one. I have no issues with mine. The only negative thing is the price of the ammo. But hopefully it will keep dropping. Did you S&W brought a a new 5.7X28mm pistol?
