I have two obsidian 45s. I received my first one in 2017. I've shot 45, 9mm, 22, 300 blk, and 223/556 using 45 end cap. It's by far the best suppressor I've used that was modular and multi-caliber. I've had one baffle strike on the end cap when I put it on my 300 blk out without removing the spring and installing the spacer. I have 0 complaints. Other people may have a different opinion about this suppressor, and they have that right. I'm just sharing mine. The baffles are easy to clean, and the device is very durable. I've also fired many rounds through them on full auto with no errors and very little back pressure.

Broke mine out of ATF jail last week. Just bought a box of 147 grain 9mm and put 5 rds out of mine M9A3. It’s ridiculous quite! Sounds more like a big balloon being popped, rather a gun being fired. Completely hearing safe. Can’t wait to try it on my FN FNX-45 Tac. Also, this can fits the FN FN-510 10mm also. Although I doubt you can shoot a 10mm I your backyard since I don’t know any subsonic 10mm

Awesome video. I struggled with the decision of 45 cap vs 9mm suppressor. My main requirement was that suppressor should be easy to maintain and able to handle 9mm and 22lr. Modularity was optional. Decided to go with 9mm because I don’t see myself getting a 45 cap pistol. Ended up pulling the trigger on rugged obsidian 9 through silencershop last week. I think it was the right decision for me. Next, I intend to go for a 556 suppressor.

@@PracticallySquared1 just picked it up few hours ago; it would be some time to make time to go try it but planning to run it first with handgun; got a threaded Canik 9mm and an FNH 45 tactical elite to try it first, I also picked a Griffin Resistance .22 cal and that one is titanium, very light feel in comparison to the Obsidian, I own more .22s variants than any other caliber they are lots of fun. The Obsidian i ordered after watching many you tubes and reviews everyone seems to agree it is kind of a unique can to have that could go across all supported calibers; I got still in jail another can, The Banish .30 cal and those should cover all calibers I would be interested in suppressing.

I just bought this. I have a few new-to-silencer questions: 1) It’s safe to shoot anything smaller than 45? I have 9mm, 22lr, 40, and 357 sig. 2) do you need special ammo or can you shoot any of your regular range ammo through it?

If you put the 9mm end cap on the Obsidian 45 it'll knock a few more db off the sound level. The 9mm end cap is around $60 IIRC.
@PracticallySquared1
@PracticallySquared1 2 жыл бұрын
That's definitely an option however I personally can't pick up much difference. I like to run mine on 45acp regurly and I don't like running smaller bore endcaps in cans that I run on bigger stuff. Not worth the chance of me forgetting to swap it out and mess up the can. With the 45 cap it sounds plenty good enough.

Like my obsidian 9, it's the only dedicated pistol can I own. I'm not a fan of shooting pistols suppressed because of the blow back. I usually shoot it in the short config to reduce blow back. I bought the obsidian due to the modularity to save myself an extra tax stamp.

Correct. Don't worry about the 9mm endcap, not much of a difference. Another route is the griffin camlok system. It's a piston and barrel mount but then you can swap the can across calibers and it's super easy

What about walk-off?
@PracticallySquared1
@PracticallySquared1 Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what you're asking, all pistol cans are going to have a tendency to walk off. There's ways that you could prevent that such as using Teflon tape or a QD system like Griffin's cam lok. Or just check every couple rounds. If you think about it there's a lot of vibration going on there

@PracticallySquared1
@PracticallySquared1 2 жыл бұрын
I really like both deadair and rugged. The Ghost is a solid 45 can but a hair louder and uses some aluminum baffles in the end. On the other hand the obsidian 45 is the benchmark 45 can. Nothing else has yet to best it and it features all SS baffles. The SS obsidian will be much easier to clean. Also the rugged can take several manufactuers pistons, the deadair is proprietary. I don't think you can go wrong with either but if your asking for a suggestion, having shot both a good bit I think the obsidian is the clear answer.

@@PracticallySquared1 yup. I think I've made my decision! Cheaper too and I can throw all baffles in ultrasonic cleaner. And I can use sico pistons
