I agree with you Nyhmnim, it wouldve been the Ultimate return to Yu-Gi-Oh! But the series isn't over yet and im sure he will get it. He has the drive and the passion. He is enjoying the game win or lose, and that's the most important thing. Though I must say, seeing him face off against Trif in a match would've been epic to see.

Hey guys! I have to say, I really missed this. I think it’s been 20 or so days since the last upload and believe me, I couldn’t wait to get back to posting the series. I just wanted to make sure that the new episode was top quality and well, I think it turned into something really special. I really try to put a lot of extra effort into the videos covering regionals as they are road trips and well, memories I want to preserve in the best way possible. So again, lots of extra editing… this one probably took me a little over 40 hours. With that said, it was such a pleasure meeting so many of you guys on the 18th! Thank you for coming up and making me feel so special :) I got to meet a lot of great people, a lot of legends and the content creator behind Rouge to Glory. He made a pretty impressive first video which you can check out here kzbin.info/www/bejne/maXZkp6umtJ_gNE Also, this video has something new in the form of a heavy chat. I really wasn’t sure if I wanted to include it. I like positive atmospheres and I always want these videos to feel like a welcoming place… but at the same time I also felt like I had a responsibility to the other newer players, like myself to shed light on… well, something we will all probably have to deal with at some point. Let me know what you think of the segment. In the end, your opinion means a lot and I really do care what you have to say. I hope you enjoy this really special episode and hey, as per usual if you’re really enjoying all of the extra time that goes into the edits, sound mixing, montages, etc, consider giving the video a big like and sharing it with a friend… or on twitter… or on reddit. It all accumulatively makes a massive difference and I’m always super grateful :) -Ruggles

I see a lot of comments about "Oh I would have called a judge.." and such, while yes he should have it is over now. For new and old yugioh players, the thing to take away from this is just don't be afraid to call a judge. You can still be friendly and a good sport while making sure your opponent isn't taking advantage of your kindness.

Not having translations for a salad deck.... Man that was intentional. As a judge myself I'm definitely backing up the fact of "call a judge immediately when your opponent is doing something shifty." because there have been too many scenarios where I get approached after a match and asked questions that would have made a significant impact on the game.

Also, the second someone said they don't have translations I would have called a judge. From what I know they can/should be DQ'd, my friend, didn't top a regional because a guy used a German Borrelsword/Striker deck and didn't have a translation for Borrelsword. Sure there is playing for fun or being a good sport. But there are a few people in Arizona that purposefully play decks made up of different languages so their opponents can't read and are sort of scummy. Getting them DQ'd helps everyone else.

@@yayup6840 Because Borrelsword was new at the time and the guy was using an entire Striker Deck in another language and the deck wasn't super old yet. It takes a while to memorize every Striker Card's effects but he could have called the judge when the guy didn't have a translation for Sword. He knew generally what Sword and Striker cards did, but not the exact specifications which cost him some advantage here and there. The other guy was just being straight scummy with how he built his deck.

I really appreciate you make that kind of talk where you spoke of your 9th round. Canada seems a nice place, but as a fellow player in Mexico, things are a lot different. I agree with your judge friends, specially because that player most probably was doing that kind of tricky thing during the whole tournament. I play Pend Endymion, and I speak all the effects as fast as I can and always ask if my opponent understands them. Before an event, if you have a doubt regarding an effect or ruling, ask around how is going to be ruled in that event. Always ask a Judge when in doubt, and if you get a wrong answer (Judges are human beings), get the head judge and verify. Never leave the flow of the match to your opponent, specially a guy like that.

Hello Ruggles love the channel I'm a judge for Dragonball Super card game, I know there differences in our games but the Language ruling and what happened to you sadly happens a lot in all games. To new/returning player please tell a judge either during the match or flag a judge and request a game watch after the first game. Reason is sometimes judges pick up on something off in the game or tell them during. This can result in either a DQ for your opponent or a rematch. I have a friend name Bryan who plays Yugioh similar thing happened in a CoreTCG tournament and he got a second round win because his opponent wasn't playing sportsman like. Not trying to scare anyone, but Judges are your friends in tournaments

I’m so glad you brought up that last round. At my locals every now and then guys would pull out foreign cards. Aside from that when I first started competing; unaware of a lot of card effects, I took the players’ word rather than take the time to read everything. I wanted to play and put my trust in their sportsmanship. That very well may have cost me some games here and there but at this point I’ll never know and we were playing for packs so losing doesn’t bother me. It’s a game we play for fun and a learning experience, and I’m far more educated now than I was. But thank you for echoing the importance of honor in this game.

Just finished watching your video, and gotta say, this might be one of my top yugitubing channels (among cimoooooooo, teamsamuraix1, team aps, megacapitalg, and house of champs) keep up this genuine content, you’re gonna go far! Also great editing!!!

Your round 9 opponent reminds me so much of the toxic/bad players I run into on DB. It sucks that we have these types of people in our community but that’s even more reason why we have to be better.

Amazing video! I like the serious talk! Your videos are so well put together and they have such a welcoming feel. I appreciate all the time you put into them and I don't care if they're not out consistently, the quality and personal feel are worth the wait. Thanks for everything you do! Keep it up! Plus, you play Heros like me. :)

It’s taken me 3 years worth of regionals to learn that sometimes you have to be the “bad guy”. I can’t begin to tell you how many matches I’ve lost at regionals because I just allowed people to take back plays that were critical misplays, and other things like that where I wanted to be a good guy. Not saying you have to shark people or anything like that, but you have to be firm in making sure everything is legit. You’re a great guy and obviously a great player, I’m sure you’ll get that invite soon, but sometimes you have to be more firm. Best of luck to you dude! Always look forward to these episodes!

Damn, that Salad thing got me so salty. I agree with your judge friends: if things look so iffy, call a judge. It's better being paranoid and calling a judge over a misunderstanding than letting potential teaching go through.

Fantastic video so proud of you, and your progress and you make a fantastic point about calling judges as they are there to help us keep the game fair and what your opponent did was very rude and unfair to you which I have seen a lot in the past, its until recently that I never called for a judge or anything but again very proud of you and I hope that you do fantastic this weekend.

Many newer players struggle with calling judges because they see themselves as les informed but it’s good to see someone bring up that you should always call a judge even if you aren’t sure of a ruling. Especially when it comes to being slow played always call a judge it’s better to be safe than sorry.

I would’ve called a judge so fast. I feel salty for you😡. You tried so hard just to get cheated. If you would’ve called a judge not only would you have got the match win if you explained what had been going on up to that point he probably would’ve gotten banned.

But you still call a judge because misinterpreting the game state is cheating and has penalties despite translations being needed or not. The real issue is the misrepresentation of the gamestate imo

I like Thunder still & Pendulum was honestly degenerate + at least remains playable. It's sad to see Striker go because it was such a good draw to eg. GOAT players & MTG players into modern yu-gi-oh so it feels a bit like it may have been a mistake to pretty much kill it.

When I played this game a lot before switching to DBS as my main card game I used to play with foreign cards a lot. I would always explain every card I was using if the opponents had no idea what I was using even let them take the time to ask any questions about effects even if I already explained what I was doing. I feel as if I always want to win when my opponents are on the same page as I am and if I lose at be it. Thank you for this content it is very clean and enjoyable even for the veterans that still play today and or used to play religiously. Keep up the good work, maybe one day you'll look to create your very own deck profiles and take yourself out of your comfort zone and post deck profiles and format discussions to add some more frequent videos for the people who truly love your channel! 💪
