Baumalight and Tractor Time with Tim redesigned the tree saw to have a hydraulic push bar to help control the tree when it is cut and falls! Tim uses the new tree saw to fall many trees and show how the push bar helps with safety and precision.

I got to test the Baumalight saw with Tony and couldn't dream it could get any better. Your design did just that. I would order one with the upgraded hydraulic push bar all day. Great example of an end user and manufacturer being nimble enough to make something better! Great video Tim!

Now it needs a camera or mirror system so you are not straining your neck. Or some body with lots of 1025’s set one up like some of those farmers who reversed their tractors so the driver faced the PTO. It could just be adding a seat to the side so you could work the hydrostatic and not have to turn your neck so much.

Great job, Tim! I always enjoy seeing you work with manufactures to make things better. I have wanted for a while to extend the fixed push bar on my DPH530, as I have always felt it it too short. That hydraulic option definitely takes it to the next level! Maybe they will offer a retrofit kit for older saws...

The challenge is that the base needed to be beefed up a bit to be able to handle the pressure. I suspect with appropriate reinforcement, you could add the hydraulic pushbar…but it would take some welding :-)

I had a group of cedar trees where at onetime they had a chicken run. There was chicken wire old hinges screws and nails. So I used a Sawzall to notch it first with a metal cutting blade, then a wood cutting blade. Then started back cutting it. I could just barely get my tractor in there to push it over and the first time I didn't have enough cut. So I also used a metal wedge to make it give more then finally got it to fall. The tree had been dead for quite a while.

For smaller, say 3 or 4" trees, i think thats a neat tool. With the plastic cab roof and a ROPS, i would be hesitant going after the trees in the video. The logger with the 3 wheel outfit is sitting in a masive steel cage.

@@TractorTimewithTim That it does but you have no control over the hinge cut on the tree so it could easily come back over on top of the tractor. Seemed like you were having a difficult time seeing the cut at all.

@TractorTimewithTim Ай бұрын
@@chaddthompsongood point. My approach is to push with the bar before I finish cutting all the way through the tree. While I can’t see the cut perfectly, I do have a good feel for the tree being able to be pushed. Not perfect, I agree, but I felt enough control to be safe. I did NOT feel that level of control without the hydraulic pushbar

I remember the inventor of this style tree cutter. He also invented a stump grinder. "The Stumpster". Three point that was hydraulic and PTO. That product may have been sold off as it's not for sale anywhere. To bad as it was a great stump grinder. I sold mine at my now ex wife's demands. I bought a three point PTO unit and it works well. Just a bit tougher to hook to the tractor.

Neat concept upgrade. I'm curious to know if you think on the bigger trees, it would be worth having a helper notch the distant side of the tree before you cut it? Would they fell without the extra angle, or isn't it worth the hassle? Overall, your upgrade seems to have quadrupled the safety factor of this type of saw on larger trees. Thanks for sharing!

What kind of trees are those? They look like ash. White ash doesn't usually grow in such wet conditions. Black ash, red ash, and green ash are more water loving species. You're wrong. A skid steer could not tilt the bucket forward feature to push the tree over, because that would also change the angle and push the cutting blade low into the stump and cause bind and stall. Your three point push hydraulic does not change the cutting blade location or angle. A skid steer would.
