I could certainly hear the locker clicking in the car park. My WJ 4.7, I overhauled the front and rear verilock diffs, off road they are great even with its 247 transfer case.

I put mine in the rear, the d30 is known to snap shafts with them with very light shock loading, i will be putting a varilok upfront

Hey Tyler, love your videos. I'm about to do this exact thing. I have my locker and new carrier, just waiting on axle shafts. Should I have anything else on hand? I imagine maybe carrier shims in case I need to adjust it? Any other recommendations? I've never done a gear install before. Any tips or tricks? I've watched a bunch of different videos on it. I feel confident, but will always take more advice.

I added front locking hubs on the front axle of my XJ after install a Spartan front lock to my jeep. Best of both worlds.

I have a locker in my 2 wheel drive truck. I clicks pretty loud in sharp turns and sometimes will chirp the inside tire on a turn if you accelerate too hard. On grass or dirt it will tear up the turf on an accelerating turn but it sure goes good in rough driving.

@@TylerPotter I installed it my self. Just my luck about 2 weeks after I installed it a wheel bearing went out and I had to take it all back out to remove the axle. Thats been over 20 years ago and it still works great. The brand is power trax.

If you were only installing the aussie locker, the carrier COULD remain in the pumpkin, right? Or does the ring gear obstruct removal of the pin that retains the spyder gears?? Very sweet WJ, by the way.

I just bought a new 2023 Jeep Compass MP, it's a total beast with the turbo on the streets, but if I go offroad I will need to upgrade to some Portal lift kits and bigger tires.

The aussie locker is great in the rear axle, on an icy road a locked front axle will get you killed

When switching to the 242hd t case, is there a specific donor vehicle to look for as far as spline counts and compatibility are concerned?

Hi Tyler, I have a 04 WJ limited 4.7 with 65k miles on it. I bought it 6 years ago from its original owner with 40k miles. Always maintained at dealer. Well, since I’ve bought it, it has a quite heavy steering. Compared to my XJ and the other 4 ZJs I’ve had the WJ steering is way heavier. I had the pump checked and it’s fine, flushes with the proper Chrysler fluid for the hydro fan a few times and had all the suspension bushing and track bar replaced and the steering is still heavy. Do you have any idea or direction on what it could be? I live in Brazil, sadly can’t bring the car over to you.

@@TylerPotter I’ve only driven one other WJ and it was a 99. So no hydro fan on that one and it felt smooth as the zj and xj. I remember that when I bought this WJ 6 years ago it was making a moaning noise when turning the steering wheel to the left only. But after a couple of fluid flushes the moaning went away but it didn’t make it any “lighter” to steer. I still feel some kind of resistance feel when turning it to the left side… I’ve always wondered if it could be the steering gearbox, but since it’s been like that for 6 years I didn’t wanted to address it and possibly make things worse. But the jeep is so immaculate that I want to have this sorted for once. Thanks for your response! :)

Aussie locker is an auto unlocker. Driving straight it is locked. Turning makes it unlock and click.
