@edcnoyb37822 жыл бұрын
Yes the pro tips are good. Keep in mind though that rule of 31 doesn't really work on the really short patterns. Like the Wolf especially the old one. It also doesn't really work on anything much longer than 45 feet. It is however a good general starting guideline. On most of the patterns if you know what you are bowling on. Like the one guy said its usually only off by a board or two. That board or two variance. Usually is because of individual bowler style.

I know of the Rule of 31 but I don't use it since it makes me get in my head too much and I feel like I miss shots more often. That said very good video with good information.

I dont know if it works in Upstate NY because a lot of these houses dont put out heavy volume or even middle of the road volume. I bowled on Carbon yesterday and the break point should have been 10 but the break point was more like 7 or you had to really hurl it down about 12 or it was split city. but when i go out of state to bowl i do find this tool very helpful.

One way to do it is to record your ball, slow down the footage, and count how many times a certain mark makes a full rotation. Mark can be anything like a peace of tape, engraving, thumb hole, etc. Doing the calculation is easy.

If u want to see ur revs throw your ball in the heavy oil pattern of the lane and when it comes back look at the oil trail around the ball. It would look like a bow tie then count how many lines go around that bow tie

@@idkaccount4591 what does that tell you. Let's say there is 5 lines near bow tie, what does that mean?

I have tried it. I didn't have much success. I strike more by just throwing my most reliable line and then reading the lane and adjusting.
@matthewrichards68893 жыл бұрын
It’s all relative to the pattern, the lane type, temperature, some days the lanes might hook more or less. So normally I play to the right of the rule of 31 w urethane just bc I can control the pocket and as the day goes on I move in and then that’s where the rule of 31 comes in play where the breakpoint gets inside more. For jr gold and SYC no one really uses the rule of 31 either bc we don’t know the pattern or the gutters play
@rb89993 жыл бұрын
Definitely just a generality that isn't always true. Like you mentioned, there's so many things that can change how a pattern plays. I've bowled on 47ft where there was hook outside and 35ft where anything 5 and out was picking 3 or in the gutter.

I just started bowling like 7-8 months ago I’ve heard of this rule of 31 but didn’t know what it was or what it meant. I’ve always just picked a spot to stand and an arrow to aim at never aimed at anything down lane. So the idea would be to draw a line back from your break point to your arrow at whatever angle you want to play? At what point would you play more angular rather than straighter?
@jrproshop2 жыл бұрын
Look for what the ball is doing before the breakpoint. If you see it jumping early from the mid lane friction, that’s your cue to jump inside and play with more angle, but to the same breakpoint.
@Jgotcha1872 жыл бұрын
@@jrproshop thanks I think this is honestly going to help me a lot. I don’t know why I haven’t seen any other videos talking about this. I struggle a lot with consistency and a big part of it is probably because I only focus on hitting my target at the arrows and don’t really pay much attention to what happens next. A lot of times I’ll feel like it was a good shot because I hit my target but then when it gets down lane it’s probably not hitting the target down there. I can’t wait to get out on the lanes again and see what happens

For the lanes with markers, how far down are they? Front and back of the marker?

For lanes that have the markers down lane, the first set of markers (on the 15 boards) starts 34 feet from the foul line, and is 3 feet long. The second set (on the 10 boards) starts at 40 feet, and is also 3 feet long.
