This works! I accidentally ordered the display port adapter instead of HDMI, so if you're wondering if it works. I've seen a few comments about the displays being mirrored after install. You just have to go back to system preferences, open displays, and deselect the mirror displays option. I need 3 displays for home office so this is a big help, thanks!

Great video but do you just have a diagram somewhere? That would be so much quicker than me trying to follow this and write everything down. Also, you mention the 3rd display is connected via USB 3.0 but it has HDMI or DisplayPort ports, so does that mean you're going HDMI to USB 3.0 to the DisplayLink, and then DisplayLink goes to the last Thunderbolt port?

Hey Ruslan, Your presentations are great and most helpful. I just purchased a 2021 24"IMAC M1. I want connect it to my early 2009 IMAC to use as a second screen. It is running El Capitan 10.11.6- the last IOS update available to that machine. Is this possible? If so, can you provide a step by step? Also, do I need new cables, etc. I know this is a lot. I truly appreciate any help you can provide. Best, Michael

Just a heads up, as of current, the DisplayLink driver is only compatible with up to 4 additional displays, and it does not support screen rotations or, clamshell mode (where the MacBook Air/Pro is closed and you use the external displays). DisplayLink displays also have limitations in macOS for protected content, and so if you play that you may need to disconnect all DL connected displays. If you use the Thunderbolt 3 for multiple displays, make sure it's a Thunderbolt 3 adapter, and not USB-C. USB-C to multi-display mostly use MST (Multi-stream transport) which macOS does NOT support. If you're uncertain, ask the maker of the USB-C solution if MST is used for multiple displays or not.

What kind of hub/dock connector are you using? We have a Belkin 11 to 1 sent by our work we are trying to make work. Currently the monitors are an Apple Thunderbolt display with a thunderbolt to usb c adapter, and and an LG with a USB-c connection. It appears that we need adapters as the only display ports available on the dock are vga/display port and hdmi. Also, the DisplayLink manager application will not open from the desktop, it is downloaded, but I cant access any management screens...is that because the monitors are not yet connected with the right cable adapters via the dock? Would you recommend getting rid of the Belkin dock in favor of another? Thanks

Thanks for the great video and instructions! After just becoming a new user of MacBook Air M2, one issue troubling me is that I can only set up 3 external monitors after using Displaylink. Even when I plug in the 4th monitor using the original USB-C port, one of the 3 external monitors will then become inactive (black screen). So I can use maximum 3 external monitors. In this situation, do you have some trouble shooting tips/ advices to set up 4 monitors if possible? Thank you so much!

How is the setup configured? It might be possible you need more bandwidth to be able to run more screens. Even though the port is USB C, you might a Thunderbolt Hub to get all of the screens working.

@@RuslanTulupov Thanks a lot for your timely advices! As you pointed out, I guessed probably bandwidth could be an issue. Currently I am just using a common USB C port (Novoo USB-C 11 in 1). In combination use with Displaylink I can only connect 3 external monitors as mentioned above. When I use my Windows PC, the same Displaylink can connect 4 monitors. Could you inform what Thunderbolt Hub you are using? What is your recommendation? I am not a high-end Tech user, my main usage is to remotely connect to my computer at office during Work From Home, multiple monitors definitely help. Also one more thing annoying me, when remote to my PC at the office, I found an obvious delay in displaying the movements I performed on the remote PC. When using my Windows PC to do the same, I did not observe such obvious displaying delay. From your knowledge, Is this also due to bandwidth? Any suggestions? Many thanks!

When I used the Epson 980 power lite, the 120" screen flickers constantly. Any special setting needed, adapter or switcher? The distance from the Mac Mini and the projector screen is about 100 Ft. When I connect it through pluggable, it only shows the max scaled dimension as 1920x1080 and not the max resolution it supports (2560x1440) but if I connect it via regular hdmi there is no issue. You will need to use a DisplayLink dock or connector to get any more than 1 monitor working with the MacBooks. It will natively support the Apple display, or any other display, but any extra monitors will not be supported without the use of the DisplayLink third party hardware + software. I would suggest just waiting to purchase anything DisplayLink and then just purchase your MacM1Mini, because you should be able to Amazon 1-day order any other devices as needed. If it ends up working out and you don't need DisplayLink, then you saved a few bucks!

What is the available bandwidth and screen limitation? Will this work on macbook air not mini with dual 1440p 165hz monitors or will limit them to 60hz?

Hi, I am running OS Big Sur on a Mac mini M1. The DisplayLink Manager 1.4 says it is running, I have allowed it to record the display. But it does not show up as an extension in System Report. I have restarted with DisplayLink Manager as a startup app, but it did not request approval. Activity Monitor shows a DisplayLinkUserAgent, which is loaded by DisplayLink Manager. Any idea, does this mean that DisplayLink Manager is running? Do the extra displays need to be connected through DisplayPort, or is HDMI good too?

I have one Monitor conected via HDMI to Mac mini m1. The other monitor is connected via Display Port in the D6000 dock. After every reboot it doesn't detect the monitor connected to the Dock. If I take the USB C Cable off and reconnect, it works. Is there a way to resolve this issue?

Saw another video where they mention Netflix sound didn’t work....would I face issues with the display vi the usb c adaptor? I.e fuzzy or audio issues (will use Bluetooth speakers/keyboard and mouse)

Hey Ruslan.. I have a setup like below and couldn’t extend the displays .. any advice would be great.. MacBook Pro M1 Connected to a HP G5 dock via thunderbolt port Two dell monitors connected to the dock Display link software installed But all I get is the second display been mirrored in both the monitors When I look at display link manager it shows connection status as no monitor connected . Or does it work only with startech dock?

Need help please. I believe I have the same 2 LG monitors as you do - - and have an M1 Macbook Air. My issue is somewhere in the downloading process the DisplayLink isn't recognized in the System Report Hub, extensions, etc. I've tried downloading multiple times but to no avail. Any thoughts? Also, if I can get it to work, I will use a Apple dongle to connect HDMI to USBC through a Caldigit TS3Plus - - will this work? Thx.

Do you know if it's possible to connect two Thunderbolt displays to an M1 Mac Mini using this method? I can connect one using a T2 to T3 adapter but the second monitor doesn't seem to be able to connect using an hdmi/minidisplay port adapter.

Yes they are! I've tried running HomePods with the Mac before and it doesn't work that great to be honest... you can airplay all of your audio and that works well but stereo doesn't work

Thank you for the video! I have a M1 MacBook Pro and I've got a MOKiN 12 in 1 USB-C with dual-in and triple display. As you might guess, it is not working to drive more than 1 external monitor. Would I just get the (DisplayLink (StarTech, 4K@60Hz DisplayPort, 1/2 Monitors): @t) (or one of the single StarTech ones you listed) and plug it into an available USB port in the hub? and then download the DisplayLink Manager for this to work? Or will I need to get a different hub? Can I use one of the HDMI ports in the hub and one of the single StarTech adaptors to run the second display? Much thanks!!!

Yes for the main display. You can use a DisplayPort or HDMI adapter. I’m working on a video now on how to enable 120Hz for Macs over HDMI to USB C

Will this mac mini run (2) 49" LG screens and (2) 32" 4k LG vertical screens properly. I'm trying to see if the new mac mini can handle this as those are the screens I'm wanting to run and I'd prefer to use mac as I like Final Cut pro. What would you suggest? Thanks in advance.

Ruslan, you are a savior! I'm not a pro so my question may be naive. All I want is my M1 MBA to run two 1080p dell monitors. I already have a caldigit dock. Am I correct in thinking if I get the display link port, DisplayLink (High Quality, 4K DisplayPort, 2 Monitors): @t, then I can rig up my system so that I can have three monitors (one on the laptop and the 2 dell) with none of them mirrored?

Hi Ruslan, so I received the Startech USB 3.0 to Dual DP Adapter 4k - 60Hz. I connected the two DP inputs of the two external monitors to the device and connected the Startech to a USB port on my Caldigit TS3. With that, I only get one external monitor to work. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

I currently have 2 monitors working on the m1 mac mini, usbc to mini-dvi and the main hdmi port. Am I able to use a usb-c to hdmi dongle to get a 3rd monitor working off the 2nd usb-c port? It doesn't seem to work just by plugging it in. Display link didnt seem to work either. Or does the dongle I'm using matter? I have a satechi one.

Followed this tutorial before when buying my mac mini and it gave me hope!😀 My HDMI port is used up for a screen, one of my thunderbolt ports is used as a video input from a video switcher. I have one more thunderbolt port open. Can I add a USB C to HDMI adapter to get an extra display? P.S. I have a pluggable dock that gives me 3 extra HDMI monitors that work perfectly.
