@@vincewarne228 All I'd say is remin open minded! I honestly think Nike always get more hate than other brands due to them always being at the top of the running game lol I'm no elite runner or anything like that so my opinion is worth very little, however all I will say is I personally find them extremely comfortable, and any run I've done in them has been brilliant 👌🏻 I'm only a UK 8 in size so mine also weigh very little compared to many KZbin reviewers but that aside I really do think they are a good shoe! Good luck for Berlin though buddy having spoken to you a few times on KZbin and seeing other comments you've made I'm sure you'll absolutely smash it 💪🏻

Thanks for the honest and thoughtful review. I’ve also have been very underwhelmed by the Nike Ultrafly’s. In addition to your observations after a couple of long runs (30ish km) flexion of my feet became painful. Perhaps this is due to getting used to the carbon plates, but still… bought HOKA Mafate speed 4 instead.

No problem, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It's a very stiff carbon plate in the midsole so it could be that causing the issues 🤔 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏

In my opinion Nike's best trail running shoes are the Wildhorse 8. I love running in those but haven't yet gotten to run in some of the more extreme surfaces that would really allow me to put them to the test. I've only run on semi rough terrain and on wet surfaces and I felt secure and I love the Nike React Midsole. It seems a little more durable than the ZoomX.

The secret of pillow-soft of this shoes is not a ZoomX but its insole : gel-like , water absorbed and very HEAVY!!! The plate just add a small pop just counteract that sinking and not enough power for a good speed run This insole is a big factor of weight and it will add much more weight in a bigger size (in my 8.5 = 270+g , not that light but not that heavy compare to others , but in bigger like 10+ I heard that the shoes is very heavy) I'm curious if we swap for other (very) good insole will it be better of worsen?. And swap to Vibram aftermarket outsole will add any good? (but +$$$) For me , this is my best (but not worth for money) for "very slow but leg-shuffleable" in non muddy-trail. INDEED NOT a super shoes. Must make sure for weather forecast and terrain profile.

I used a pair of wildhorse 6 following your review a few years ago. A decent “training” shoe - I logged about 600 miles in them, perfect for the very tame trails around where I live. However I quickly realised I wouldn’t take them on any proper trails (I’m talking lakes and Scotland) - I’ll keep my inov8s and La sportivas for that! Seems like this would be a similar thing - which at that price is just not realistic 😅 cheers for the video!

Chapeu for yet an honest and very useful review 👍🏻 Bold move Loyd running the entire race in the shoe. It sounds like the wildhorse 8 is a much better shoe. Pretty accurate review! I’ve got 45 km in mine for V2 I’d like to see them change colour drop weight & 5mm lugs and compared to my first run in the Tec X they were a bit underwhelming you did mention the best thing was the Vibram outsole & that’s nothing to do with Nike so the early wear on the sole isn’t really a Nike problem either more for Vibram to assess only thing I’d add is they look wide but are not any wider than other Nikes and had to do the runner knot was getting slight heel slippage but thanks for another honest review 👍
@Run4Adventure Жыл бұрын
I definitely found them wider in the toe box than any of the other Nike Trail shoes I've used. I find the few Nike's I've tried never meet the hype. I've run in two Nike trail shoes and was disappointed. by both. Plus, I overponate and find most Nike shoes are not suitable for ovepronation. By the way, I watched your video and noticed on the shots of your feet thatyou severely overpornate. Might I recommend the Arahi or Gaviota or the New Balance more X trail v3 ( for trails). I enjoy your videos and the depth at which you run in and review the shoes. To avoid relacing why not do a double knot. Thanks for you reviews.
@Run4Adventure20 күн бұрын
Thanks for your concerns Jack but I definitely don’t overpronate? I actually worked in the running industry for 10 years and I carried out around 6,000 gait analysis so I have a lot of knowledge on the subject. When we run on trails we have to pronate because of the uneven ground, that’s a natural motion. Obviously if you do a similar thing on the flat roads, that’s over pronation and you’d probably need some extra structure in your shoes. As for the laces, I always tie a double knot when I run but sometimes with certain shoes that doesn’t make any difference. Also, I’ve run in the NB More X trail 3 and it’s one of the most unstable trail shoes I’ve ever run in! Thanks for watching, I’m glad you’re enjoying the content 🙂

Can we really give Vibram such a positive reaction if after a couple of training runs and a 100m trail race it would be "pretty much shredded"?
@Run4Adventure Жыл бұрын
It's not great, but if Nike had decided to use a deeper lug depth it wouldn't have worn down so quickly. Vibram is a soft rubber and that's what makes it so grippy but if it has such a shallow lug it won't be great for durability 👍

Shoes definitely make a difference. Whether they make enough of a difference to DRASTICALLY change the podium in a trail ultra I don't know. We know on the road the shoe tech has made things possible that weren't before. But with it come super expensive shoes that are done after one or two races. My guess? Nike want to create this same wasteful (and one hundred percent avoidable and intentonal) culture to trail shoes too. They are normalising high wear and hiding behind the excuse of performance.
