Not only dust, but finger prints on the sensor. When I changed the cables on my Split the first time i must have accidentally touched the sensor. All the video I recorded had a slight haze in areas. When I finally took it apart to figure out why I found a very clear finger print on the sensor glass. Cool video, thanks for sharing!

The next step would be, finding a way to tie the servo to the goggles. Meaning with the turn of the head, the servo moves. Love the video, can't wait to see the rig in flight.
@kennyFF0337 жыл бұрын
If you have a Taranis radio and are comfortable setting up aux. channels, it is easy to do. Your goggles would need a head tracker in them, like the Dominator Vx or similar. then you just link the output on your goggles to the input (trainer) port on your Taranis, set up the radio and Bam! your head moves the servo! I have seen a couple of good vids on YT that show you how to do it and connecting them requires a simple cable like you would use to connect your phone audio to a speaker.

Do keep in mind that the RunCam Split requires 650mA at 5V and can spike as high as 1A. The Unify can only output 500mA at 5V. So you're going to be pushing the VTX 5V regulator past it's limits. That's a quick way to shorten the life span of a $50 VTX.
@hughmungus87847 жыл бұрын
How do you suggest to solve this issue?
@derrogers7 жыл бұрын
add a seperate ubec just for the split. a pololu or something like that...
@bootsinshoes31987 жыл бұрын
Yep. I added a 1A 5V pololu regulator. GetFPV has them for fairly cheap.
@jeffchase90967 жыл бұрын
Couple of quick things. Any idea when the RunCam Split 2 will be available? Also, noticed there are 2 listings for the Runcam Split on the website. I assume the cheaper of the two does not come with the wifi module; however, according to the page, the first line of the description for the cheaper one says it comes with the wifi unit. Might want to update that...

A nice idea, but I think you guys made a bit of a fail here. The Unify Pro HV has a maximum current output of 500mA on its 5v output, but the split draws 650mA. I’m not sure this is a good idea long term, especially on something critical like an FPV system.
@digiay7 жыл бұрын
Why should it be a problem? 150mA difference makes hardly any difference if you go think about a miniquad 4s 1300mah it takes under 2 seconds from your flight time if you fly 4 min, even less if 3 min. On long range you don't care about 150mAh
@donutpvp77207 жыл бұрын
Dööörk the 5v volt ouptup cant deliever enough powaer
@Len020137 жыл бұрын
Dööörk if it's over it's max output power rating, which is bad ie could burn out electronics. Good pickup zylon. Buck Voltage reg might be a good idea
@ZylonFPV7 жыл бұрын
Dööörk - You have missed the point of my comment. The Unify Pro HV as used in this video is able to supply a maximum of 500mA on its 5v output. The split draws 650mA, therefore the regulator on the Unify is being driven 30% over it’s maximum current capacity. This isn’t a good idea.
@TheMadmacs7 жыл бұрын
and according to schim and andyrc the split 2 is noisy on the solder pads with the new voltage reg.... wish somebody wouuld design a protective casing for a top mounted split.
@Graybear787 жыл бұрын
Very interesting, and thank you very much. A suggestion, if I may. Many of us, me included, have not been involved with FPV, and have very little if any knowledge about the setup, other than what you just explained, and do not understand the terminology associated with FPV. Would it be possible either to do a video that explains the names of the parts and what they do. The acronyms are quite confusing to some. I for one would be willing to buy the parts explained in this video if we could understand what we were doing. I understand it would be quite lengthy and boring for some, but would open doors for others. Thanks, Lee.
@Firky20107 жыл бұрын
TBS say the unify pro HV is only good for 500mA on the 5V output and the split seems to claim 650mA to 1A? have you had any problems with the setup? Cheers

Check out flitetest.com if you have not already... click on store on the top banner and look around from there, you can select only planes, look down the left side and click on novice to view all the trainers and easy to fly planes. Select a plane you like and click on it to go to that page... there you will find all the specs, plans, fly videos and build videos. They list everything recommended for that plane with lots of tips and other cool stuff. My favorite beginner plane is store.flitetest.com/mighty-mini-tiny-trainer-speed-build-kit/ It has two wing versions you can swap easily and is a great way to start in 3 channel flight where the plane will bank automatically in turns, then swap the wing out and learn 4 channel flight with ailerons... coordinated banking turns, barrel rolls and all that! Hope that helps, Happy build/fly!

So, stick a VTX03 to my RC3 using the live out cable? On-board battery backup, WiFi without the silly board, easy push style micro SD card, better protection, readily available TPU mounts, less props in view if placed where HD cam should go, no backfeed issues, and regulator for bigger range of voltage input.

they actually have some goggles that have head tracking and it allows you to have a similar setup to this. when you move your head the camera moves... i think that is very disorienting but i fly freestyle fpv quads. very neat idea for sure. i think its best suited for airplanes personally.

Hi, I'm interested to know if the channel you are transmitting influences the transmission in any way? Are there better channels to transmit than others?
@blackmennewstyle7 жыл бұрын
Most of FPV transmitters on the market are indeed outputting more power on some channels which can give you slightly better range and penetration but the key in FPV has always been the antennas over powerful video transmitters, invest in good FPV antennas on your video receivers side and you will have a better eperience but keep in mind that antennas also come with their own strengthes and weaknesses, find the ones which match more accurately with your style of flying! Have a great week and happy flying!

Question. I have a Traxxas Summit. front cam 1.2 and rear cam 5.8. It works great, but just not far enough. Need my long range! I have purchased all parts needed from the supplied link from RMRC. Includes both Vas antennas with all TBS crossfire components. And QX7 transmitter. I think I have it all. I don't know for the life of me how to install this. And I cannot find the right link on KZbin. It's over my head. I kind of know what's going on but I not really. Do you at flight test provide a install service? I'm from NE Indiana. I could be down there in Fl. Without much trouble. if anyone is willing. I would like your pan tilt set up that I just watched. With My TBS Crossfire and system installed. Can you guys help?
