It's been quite a while since the last Rambly Running video and there's a very good reason for that. In fact there are lots of reasons. So in this video I say what they are and talk about where I am on my running journey. Basically nowhere, but now's the time to start putting that right!
Thanks so much for watching, subscribing, liking, commenting and sharing.
I'm Andy Clayton and in 2018 I did Couch To 5K and instantly discovered a love for running that I never knew existed. Prior to that, I'd always though that running looked like hard work and no fun at all. How wrong I was! Since discovering that there is a huge amount of enjoyment to be had when running I'm on a one man crusade to tell everyone that you can do it too! Were you told by your school physical "education" "teachers" that you were no good? Or did they just ignore you and talk to the sporty kids? That's what happened to me, and so I thought I was useless. I didn't think I'd ever be any good at anything even remotely sporty. But you really CAN do it! Couch To 5K is just the start, and once you crack that challenge there's lots more out there for you to enjoy.
Join me on my journey as I find out new things about running, enjoy trying different challenges that anyone can have a go at and also, occasionally, throw in a bit of utter silliness just for good measure.
There's a thriving community on this channel who regularly post very helpful tips and ideas in the comments. Join in! You won't regret it! 😀

Great to have you back running. Sorry to hear about your Mum and all the other stuff that's been going on. Life has a habit of throwing stuff like that at us. It's hard but we have to battle on. I find running to be a good release of enjoy, clear the mind and just have some me time. All the best Andy

That's such a good point. And spot on. It was so nice to get out and just not stress about all that's going on, just enjoy the fresh air and getting out and about. It definitely lifts the spirits so I want to make sure I make it out there again regularly from now on. 👍🏻

So interesting to hear why you started running and although time may have passed, I'm also sorry for your loss. Time helps (my dad left us 26 years ago) but they're never far away, not really. Running is so helpful to clear the air and just do something away from all the usual daily stuff. I so enjoyed this run, slow and brief as it was, and am looking forward to getting back out there again very soon! Thanks for watching and your kind words. Andy.

Sorry for your loss it’s awful, I must say this year has been a really awful year for everyone it would seem. I lost my father in law in January and then my son badly broke his arm needing two lots of suregery, I wonder what the rest of the year will hold 😢 I keep running for my sanity as it’s the only thing that keeps me going if I’m honest

So sorry to hear that @mrsb5646 That's rough. I completely agree about running for sanity - it's one of the reasons I wanted to get back out there and sure enough I felt so much better for it. I hope things improve for us both and the second half of the year will be less eventful!! ❤️

Thanks for that - you're so right there. I'm not going to stress about it, just getting out was so nice - it really helps to lift the spirits and distract from anything else that's going on. Just got to stick with it and slowly build back up. 😊

Condolences. now run! (I've been not running too, trying to get back out. Funnily, it happened after I ran my first 21K, as if my body just went kaput)

That's interesting to hear. It's strange how these things happen. I don't know how long it'll take me to get back to half marathon. Half a kilometre is my current goal and I'll build from there! 😂 I wish you luck with getting back out there. Let's keep each other motivated! Now run! 😀🏃

Good to see you back on the trail, so sorry to hear about your mum. This is the first summer I've done the running thing, so can't speak from your experience, but it strikes me all this heat and humidity is an added thing to contend with when getting going again. It drains me, but that might be northern genes 😂😂. Any run in this heat is good going 👍

It's a fair observation. A friend of mine who's run marathons doesn't run at all in the summer for that very reason and then build again when things get fresher in the Autumn. I wish I had a head for early mornings as at this time of the year that's by far the best time to go out. Good luck with all your running! 😊

@@TheRamblyChannel I have a friend in Arizona, she runs out doors for a couple of months a year! Outside of November to March it's the gym! Needless to say when she visits the UK she takes the opportunity to run outside. She did try running on a visit to Flagstaff, where the weather was cooler but the altitude took its toll. Worryingly she takes great interest in the fact I have taken up the hobby (I use the term hobby not sport as the latter implies athleticism and physical conditioning 😳😂). The day of reckoning is most definitely coming when she returns and suggests a run 😬!

That's so true - just my short, slow run made me feel heaps better. I want to get out more often as I know it'll be a big help to get me through a tricky period. 👍🏻

Yeah I hear some of this as lost one dog at the back end of last year too though she was only 11 but the speed of her decline was a great surprise.

Thanks Mark. It's life rollercoaster! I've had many years where things were pretty tame so the universe just decided to dump on me from a great height all at once. 🤪 Such is life. Onwards and upwards!! 😁
