For GTA V it seemingly runs way below its system requirements... but the HD4XXX never got the 15.2 Catalyst Drivers which can result in heavy stuttering if you don't run custom drivers. Other than that as long as low is targeting 720p 30Fps (the minimum usually considered playable) then I'm fine with them using minimum spec as that.

Budget-Builds Official For GTA 5 it run really well, where are talking about 2008 hardware with a 2015 game open world, its near the release of the PS3 and XBOX 360, GTA 5 is compared with Watch Dogs 2 now, but Watch Dogs 2 is a really bad optimized games compared to GTA 5. No games will surpass GTA 5 for a lot of years in optimization. Also the games on a 4:3 screen will look better than 16:9 with 720p ( I use a 4:3 screen for newer games who can't run at a decent quality on my HD6450 )

I've worked for years as a video game tester. The problem with system requirements is there is no industry standards for PC. Some companies will use the bear minimum in order for the software to boot, while other will use different standards. Most of the time, when I worked as compatibility tester, clients asked us to verify what hardware a system needed to have an average of at least 30FPS, with no drops lower than 15FPS when using the lowest setting to set the minimum system requirement. While recommended system requirements was at least 30FPS, with no drops below 15FPS when using max settings. Some other clients simply asked us to verify which hardware you needed to boot the game, no matter if the game was playable or not.

In the 90s people commonly played games at 15 fps. The only reason why people obsess over bull like 120 vs 250 fps is the glacial pace of hardware development. At that time, minimum requirements just meant the executable would run.

My definition of minimum system requirements is not simply starting the game. It's the minimum hardware needed to run the game at what would be considered playable. Like the gt 730 can run the witcher 3 wild hunt at 720p with the minimum settings and get around 25-35fps, that's the very low end of what would be considered playable.

battlefield 1 was the worst minimum reguirements. they claim you need a 6600K and a GTX 660. i have prove in my channel that even a HD 5770/GT 730 GPU's can run it just fine. and i am fairly confident that even a Core 2 Quad or 1st gen Core i5 750 will get the job done more than fine.

If I ever make a AAA game, I want it to have settings that allow people running on Lemons to be able to play it at a good fps. It would change stuff games normally don't, like removing shadows, removing all deformation if any, reducing grass/building count, allow them to set custom resolution in-game instead of in the files, etc.

RandomGaminginHD The thing that you should mention is that actually some dev's are stating what the minimum req is supposed to give us. Some are going to say that this is the bare minimum to run the game while some actually have a note that the minimum specs will allow you to play at this and this setting's while maintaining at least 30fps throughout the whole game. So just looking at the minimum setting is not enough you also have to look what the minimum specs are supposed to give you performance wise.

Ark has such ridiculous requirements. The game is a "little" more optimized now, but back in the day I built a computer for someone who mainly wanted to play ark. I put an FX 6300, 8 gigs of ram, and r9 270x. These was way, way, wayyy above the minimum requirements so I figure he could run it without issue. He baaarely scraped by. I'm sure that same system could run it better today, but back when it was released it was near impossible.

I know something like Mass Effect Andromeda's minimum system requirements calls for an AMD fx6350 cpu, but I only have an fx 6300, but it seems to run fine on my system in 1080p with medium to high settings. So yeah, I found that most games will even run on PCs that are slightly below their minimum system requirements. I guess these days, the system requirements are actually more like whats recommended for best performance and decent quality.

I always took the recommended specs as minimal specs to be safe when I was younger. These days there's benchmarks usually before or ON the day of launch so I just check those... I also noticed that there's times where my GPU doesn't hit recommended specs... yet ran the game at high with 80+ fps on average which made me go ''eh... overestimated your own game?''.

Games of this generation went from min spec GTX 460 (lowest tier gtx card with DX11) to Gtx 660 and higher pretty fast. Seems like there was a huge stretch of time the 9800 was always the min spec card; but these days it's more inconsistent.

They should make a baseline for minimum system requirements, as in minimal hardware to run a game at 30FPS min, lowest settings at 1080p.

A good example of this is how NeverWinterNights2 requires a 128meg GPU but the expansion pack (mask of the betrayer) says it needs a 256meg GPU when it really doesn't. It'll still work on the same card, like say a radeon 9800pro or even a ATI 9500 with 128meg. A good trick on the latter is to install winxp fresh and then servicepack2 but nothing more. NWN2 gives you dotnet.

I learned never to trust minimum system requirements because even with that the game usually doesn't even run smoothly at all. But I did notice that a lot of games just put in the recommended system now instead of minimum just so people won't complain why the game wont run on their "minimum requirements." Also seriously I learned ever since I got into pc gaming in 2007 to save just a bit more money to get a higher end parts than impulse buy a low or mid range and then it crapping on you in a few months to a couple of years and then just starting again from the scratch. This coming from a guy with a 7700k and a GTX 1080 at 1440p 144hz 1ms gsync monitor who used to budget game till 2011 lol. I just waited a bit more and saved more money to get the higher end stuff. My motto since getting my first mid-high end system in 2012 is "Can it run Crysis 2/3?"

You know what's funny? I'm in Canada and our after sales tax is at 13% in my province so yeah when I bought that 1080 I got hit by about $150 in taxes and eco electronics disposal bs. Did I complain? A bit but I accepted it and I saved money to offset that. All I got from that reply of yours is "wah wah wah I don't want to save money for a better part, I want to buy my parts now and I "only" make 400-700." Btw I also made only 400+ a week net since we also do get a marginal tax rate on our wages so just think about this; I get taxed on Salary and when I buy something and you dare me to make a high end pc for only that much? I already beat your "dare" 5 years ago when I first made my mid-high end system and I have been saving up money since then as a rainy day savings for when my pc finally gives out and I need an upgrade. Why did you think I managed to buy the 7700k and gtx 1080 and buy that high end gaming monitor? That is about 5 years worth of saving here and there so that didn't even break my bank even after dropping about $3000 in 2 weeks building my pc. If I can do it you can too. Now this is my dare for you as well; built an amazing gaming pc by saving money and not impulse buying crap. As for low end parts crapping out in a few months, I've known people as well who kept buying $100~200 parts that kept buying a new one in that price range again and again every few months when their pc suddenly can't run the next triple A title at 1080p at 60fps while I just spend once sit on that or just SLI it if I need it after a while. I had a gtx 670 that held up pretty well for a while then when I felt like I was not getting 60fps on some of the games, I found another one on sale then SLI'ed them till I switched to my 1080 a few months back. I also came from low end budget gaming since I was a highschool student with no money at the time and now I'm actually a lot older and I have that dreaded disease called a job.

Star Citizen orginal Minimum System Requirements: Core2Duo and GTX460 I think they updated it inofficially, but that's still shown on the Game's site. If the Game even starts on that, I'd be surprised if you ever see more than 5 FPS.

I recommend using CRU "Custom Resolution Utility" or to use a custom resolution, then use it to create a 1024*576 and 896*504 a 16:9 ratio replacement for those 4:3 ratio 1024*768 and 800*600. also it's more fps

Just cause 3 has strong stuttering​ with a Phenom II X4 so I'd say that a core i3 6100 is the minimum.

I bought my brother a 1050ti because it should have run elite dangerous with his old i5-3340 and 8gb ram. It wouldn't run for crap. I next opened my toolbox [debit card] and bought him an Alienware Aurora R7 with i7-8700 16gb 2666 ram and 1080 non ti, and Elite Dangerous runs like a bat outta hell. $1400 was not such a bad investment for that prebuilt that runs virtually anything and will for probably another 5-7 years.
