I've been meaning to visit Sherwood Pines parkrun since I first heard how beautiful it was (around 5 years ago!). We finally managed to organise a trip to run the beautiful 1 lapper through the forest and I am so pleased we did. Wow! What a parkrun!
We were lucky with the weather and the morning light through the trees was stunning! The team were super friendly, the food from the cafe delicious and the adventure playground extremely fun! There is so much to do in the forest that it's definitely a parkrun venue I'd like to revisit in future.
I'm so grateful to parkrun for encouraging me to explore these fantastic areas of the country and for bringing such wonderful people into mine and Poppy's lives. Thank you amazing parkrun ambassador Lucy Anderson for inspiring the trip to Sherwood Pines parkrun and for your brilliant company!
Happy running,
Nicola :)

I love how much the Forestry Commission do to get people using their land, and your filming really showed the forest off in its best light. Oh and Poppy's radiant face in the car at the beginning, you're a very lucky mummy!

Nicola if you come next year you could stop the weekend at Centre Parcs which is very close to Sherwood Pines and there are loads of activities for you and Poppy. The bike runs are fantastic at S.P I used to go regularly and the feeling you get from just being in the open air with the sun shining through the beautiful trees is beyond words. Keep up the great podcasts.

Thank you 🤗I absolutely LOVE parkrun! I would hate to miss a week! 🙃 I'm no good at sleeping in so I'd much rather be out in the world having an adventure than laying in bed ☺️ we usually combine our tourism with something else we're doing so it never feels like a chore, it feels like a holiday! 🥰

We went here last week - it's beautiful. Your video proved very useful to me, as your preview of the Gruffalo and mushroom-themed playground helped my 2-year-old to forget that earlier he really, really wanted to go in the running buggy :) (I love running with him in the buggy but this was not the course for it!)

Seeing those tall trees bring back fond memories of 2019 Hood To Coast Relay event in Portland Oregon. It was my last leg of the relay and I vividly remember trees like these ones. A good way to end the event and thanks for sharing:)

What a great looking course, I love running in trees. But not into them. It reminds me a lot of Delamere with the wide paths and things to do - I'm sure there's a Go Ape there, have definitely run past the Gruffalo when running Hell Up North (my favourite race). Great video again, another one on my maybe list.

@@NicolaRuns Yup, I've only done it twice, and the last time was after half a bottle of wine the night before. After a 4.31 first km, struggled on the second km uphill! I think in the late Spring and late Summer you'd see it at its best!

Know you probably have a loooooong to visit list already, but you might want to take a peek at Delamere parkrun. It's in a similar woodland with a Go Ape course (and only need to be 1M tall for that one) between Manchester and Chester, so a good one to pop in on if travelling to north Wales for Snowdon perhaps? Can't recall there being a non-Go Ape playground though, but there is a Gruffalo.

I'm a regular parkrunner but have never done the Sherwood Pines one. I used to live in that area and visited Sherwood Pines a lot as a kid (we used to get our Xmas trees from there!), but for some reason I haven't been in years. Will have to pay it a visit next time I'm in the area :)

Have you ever done Wyre Forest parkrun? It’s a one lapper with Go Ape at the end. It is a challenge - the majority of the downhill is in the 1st mile. The last mile is uphill with very steep finish.

Yes just running through a forest. Look at the first finisher times. It’s close to Bewdley a lovely Worcestershire town. You have the safari park plus the Severn Valley Railway - a 16 mile steam railway.
