Ben, really wanted to thank you for the content you put out there. I recently decided to unsubscribe from some of the running youtubers I followed... they're great, but I found it getting into my head to make me buy things I didn't need and do things I wasn't ready for! Now that I'm coming back from my first injury, I realize more the kind of content you (and Sarah!) put out is what I need -- work hard, absolutely, but smartly, and scaled to your own goals and experience. You always put out such clear and helpful info, and above all capture the fun in running, which is really the main thing! I was using one of your half plans before I got injured and can't wait to work back up to it - your style of training is exactly what I need. Thanks for all you do :)

Hey Lauren. Lovely to hear you are finding the content useful and good for you. We always try and just make content we'd enjoy watching. Wishing you all the best with your return to running and if you need any help then feel free to comment on any of our social media places and ask! Here's to a fun next few months full of running!

We’re in West Berks! 😊 If you don’t mind roads, the running here’s great. Sadly we have no trails though, other than the canal. I have largely empty routes on quiet lanes from 11km up to 25km. The only annoying thing is it’s never flat; I can’t even find 400m of level road for intervals. For 800m+ you can’t run back down a hill for recovery, so have to use GAP and go both ways.

Wiltshire is lovely. I live in a small town in the SN postcode and within 10 minutes in the car you can be up on the Ridgeway in total peace and quiet and beautiful countryside. Great running routes as you probably know. Great rail and road connections to London as well. Love your videos. You and others keep me motivated to keep getting back out there and running 🏃♀️

Sarah's contribution to this video is simply priceless ahaha loved it. By the way Ben, if you're reading this, please trust me and add some snippets of drone footage to your videos, to be used as transition segments, it would really take them to the next level (and perhaps it will be a lot easier to use the drone once you're both out of London). Best of luck!!

I think there’s such an opportunity in cool running gear. Most are either retro and v muted or high viz and make you loop like the traffic police. You’ve got a good eye for design.
@BenParkes4 жыл бұрын
Ha, thanks Martin. I work with a cool designer to put these bits together. Really like it..he has the ideas and I tweak it to get it how I like it. Glad to hear you like it! :-)

It’s interesting. Cycling brands do it pretty well, offering a range of styles. Some v cool. Running brands seem to do shoes well but clothing...not so exciting. Maybe you’ll be the Supreme for running!

My brother's family & my parents live by Minchinhampton Common. Plenty of hills and trails around there! Not sure if that's too far afield for you but it is very nice around that area; Stroud, Tetbury, Cirencester triangle. There's even the Minchinhampton 10K you could take part in!! 😄 Stroud Half is a pretty competitive event as well...

Hey Ben, how do you recover from pushing yourself to the absolute limit? I had my sectional race this weekend and basically fell down just ahead of the finish line and took 20 minutes to be able to walk on my own.

Great video as always. I have a question: I'm a 1.42 half marathoner and recently had a fastastic marathon training block but on the day of my (virtual) race I just simply wasn't able to convert this to my goal of a sub 4 marathon. This isn't the first time and I'm wondering why I just can't seem to capitalise on my relatively faster half marathon. My body just seems to give up! I do strength training twice a week and followed a pretty good plan...what do you think the problem could be? Any advice?

Hi Ben. I have been running for a few years and really enjoying it. I feel like I’m stuck on a plateau and can’t get any faster. Any tips?
@190Michael1904 жыл бұрын
many physical therapists say that running puts a high stress load on your body, which it does. this just makes me wonder, how are you able to run 7 days a week? How long did it take you to get to that point and what advice would you give novice runners who want to achieve that level of running?

Hi Ben, I'm looking to use running to tone up my calf & make the thighs slimmer. Would you recommend a 5km tempo run 5 days a week over spicing up the training for 3 days a week (1x5km tempo + 1x15km long run + 1x5km fartlek)? Thank you

Thx for the vid! Q: I have training alot more this year, but couple times I just quit training for 3-4 week. Just cant getting it done *S* That have never happen before, I belive its bcause I have no race goal this year bcause all race are cancelled... Suggestion ?
@BenParkes4 жыл бұрын
Hello Göran. It is really hard when you don't have races to train for. You can always target a time trial run, so give yourself a goal to train for and then run a time trial in a month or two months. Maybe sub 20 minutes 5k, or sub 40 minutes 10k etc, find a goal that works for you and your current ability. Then when races are back, you'll be in really good shape to race again. I'm not sure where you are from, but in the UK there are trail races happening. So you could see if there are any trail races near you. Always exciting to try a new form of running such as trails. All the best to you and hope you get your mojo back soon!

Do you wear any underwear during running? Do your shorts have inbuilt briefs? How to avoid chafing?
@BenParkes4 жыл бұрын
I usually wear under from a company called runderwear. Then sometimes use a product called body glide if I'm worried about chafing and put that in between my legs or arms.. wherever skin could rub. Alternatively I sometimes wear compression shorts and they stop my legs rubbing. Hope that helps!

Your shoes could be too small? Or try a heal lock with your laces too keep your heal in the back of the shoe?

Make sure your shoes fit (measure your foot in cm). Get branded socks. Some shoes just do have hotspots. Most are better these days.
