Warm up you muscles and tendons, get everything activated, feel stable and then go crush your run. As much as I wish I was like a dog that can go 0 to 60 as soon as she/he senses a peanut butter jar being opened, that's not how I (or many humans) work. Taking a little time to do a proper warm up before you start your run can help your running form, prevent some injuries and have that first mile feel a little better.

the sock tan line! Dang Coach Sandi is definitely a runner. Thanks for the tips on warming up. As I get older, I am finding I can't just 'go for a run', I have to prep before I move.

Amazing routine ! I've also been working on my glutes for almost a year now and the change is huge. One thing i would recomend is doing the glute bridge with legs not so wide appart (Because in running gate you land more centered) and holding the bridge as long as you can ! It's a different feel than doing repetitions ! Also the proprioception single leg, eyes closed, you can make it harder if you move your head to each side ! Much harder !

Thanks Sandi those are some good warm up stretching, I’ve had a bit of knee pain over the last week, according to some you tube videos I’ve been watching, I need to strengthen the core & glutes, should I try to do those exercises or wait till the knee pain has completely gone, what race sare you training up for next?

You say you like doing what appears to be more static stretches before you get into your dynamic stretches. Athlean X AKA Jeff (in my opinion one of the world's greatest physical therapists) speaks out against any type of static stretching before a workout. In a nutshel, he says that you train your brain to precisely move your muscles for running, walking, lifting, whatever and a stretch prior to utilizing that well established mind/muscle connection will throw that off, and albeit small, it's still a deviation from optimal performance. He's dealing more with weightlifting than cardio but it would seem to apply equally. Anyway, do you agree with what he says here and what are you thoughts? kzbin.info/www/bejne/rX2klqWeqpxqrdU
