Plan on using my Speedgoat 5’s at The Legend half marathon in your neck of the woods in August, Tim! I’ve never run the 13.1 distance or a trail race but I’m excited!!

That's awesome. Maybe I'll see you there. I'm planning to run the Summer Trail Fest Half in a couple weeks out their. I'm going to run in the Hoka Tecton X. I took them for a short run today and love them. I think the Speedgoat 5 and Tecton X will be my go to shoes this summer as I plan to do about 70 to 80% trail running. Its so much easier on my ankle and shins. The Speedgoat 5 will work great for most runs with the Texton X for speed work. Have a great night Matt.

It’s a great place for a nice long run. There a several hills that wear me out but a very fun run for sure. Tons of wildlife to look at especially deer. Have a great day.

Many thanks Tim. It was good to hear about the improved road to trail performance of the '5'. I have just retired my Speedgoat 3's to a walking shoe and they still seem to be holding up well due to the strong build quality.

I really like the Speedgoat 3 as well. Version 5 is definitely more comfortable on pavement though. Hoka did a great job with it! Have a great weekend John!

Really nice shoe! I would love to run in these. Thankyou for discussing this trail shoe so much in detail. I am kind a looking for my first trail shoes which should als be comfortable on little parts of concrete as well. By hearing you talk about this shoe like that, I got more insight as where to look at!

I wore the edge of the heels down in less than 40 miles. I do wear that specific area in all my shoes but most last into the hundreds

What are these like running in wet muddy conditions? The conditions shown in the video look like the trails are pretty dry?

Yes the trail I run are for the most part hard packed and often dry. In muddy conditions they do slip. Overall though I like the outsole and lugs on these. They are one of my favorite trail shoes. Have a great weekend. Stay safe.

I get that. I haven't run in the Speedgoat 4's so I can't make a size comparison with that shoe but they are the same size as the Speedgoat 3 if that helps. I wear a men's size 9 and the fit is perfect for me. I hope this helps. Have a great day.

Hi Peppi. It’s a pretty stable trail shoe. I severely over pronate. Over the years I’ve been transitioning to a more solid midfoot strike and I haven’t had any issues with these. Hey thanks for watching and have a great day!

I ran a Spartan Sprint and then 3 months later I ran a Spartan Beast and Super in one weekend and destroyed my feet in the Clifton 9’s. The blisters on both the bottom of my feet and side of my feet were horrible and multiple had a bunch of puss in it afterwards. The entire time my toenails were hurting so bad and I was trying to figure out what was going on and couldn’t even run the last 6 miles of the Beast. After some research I found out at it was caused by repetitive toe hitting the shoe even though it was my size or mud being in their making it feel like it was 3 sizes too small which is exactly what it felt like the entire time. 3 months later after those races, I still have black toenails on my big toes with black stuff underneath. So I got to go to a foot store and get custom measurements and stuff to see what I need but I’m looking at these. The Clifton 9 were not trail shoes which were my mistake. Don’t wear those! Going to be doing a spartan Ultra in May for my 20th birthday. Wish me luck!
