This was a great review and the most concise explanation I’ve heard yet, as a new runner understanding a lot of the jargon in the running community is a learning curve. Your explanations of stack height, why the heels are thicker on hokas(which may translate to other brands as well), how the really plush shoes can get mushy for long runs and cause some issues(potentially) are all wonderful bits to know! Well done!!

I use the Mach on the treadmill, but for me it was a revelotion when I tried Hoka Stinson for the first time! I have a problem that my ancle is twisting very easy on trail running, but Stinson is very wide so it`s like a snowshoe 😄 almost impossible to twist my ancle in those!

Nice run through of the shoes. Would have loved if you could have commented on the use of them a little more e.g. for which kind of runs would you use them 6k, 21k full marathons or longer? I've been doing trail running from 10k to 50k and with that loving my Hoka Mafate and SpeedGoats, but now I'm signed up for a couple of road marathons and looking for a suitable shoe for those +40km runs. I'm not trying to set a speed record and being a casual trail runner, I'd say I have more of a jog style than a running style, if that makes sense? To save my legs on those longer runs would you recommend a more plush shoe like the Bondi or would you say that as a non-elite runner, I'd be better of with the saved weight of say the Mach? On the BondiX and breakdown of the carbon fiber plate, how long would you say they last and what are you left with once they are reduced in term of spring?

I switched to Altra after getting injuries with Nike shoes, and pretty much injury free (except for when I didn't take enough time and energy on recovery). You could say I've fallen down the Rabbit Hole of Altra and now just worried about the width a bit and also the heel-to-toe drop of other brands. Watching your video I might want to try Hoka in the future. Only problem is, I'm living in Japan, which is awesome but they don't do US14 here. Same for Altra. They go up to like US12. I always am just waiting for some online retailer to have any in my size for a decent price, usually can't even pick a color...

I need an all-rounder as i am just getting jnto running, but am planning to do recovery runs, sprint intervals, and long runs with one shoe. I don’t know what my preferences might be, but I know that I would like to start running faster.
@houdiniface86872 ай бұрын
Pegasus plus would be good for all round, or hoka Clifton if you want hoka. Since you’re new to running, I wouldn’t recommend anything with a carbon plate or really high tech.

Great shoe comparison! I LOVE the Mach 5's, but hated the Mach 4's. I think the 5's are a HUGE improvement in a lot of ways. Oddly enough, I disagree on the Bondi and Mach width comparisons - I tried the Bondi 8 and I hated them, they were so tight and narrow on my feet and super stiff. Not plush at all. BUT, for me, when I put on the Mach 5's, wow what a difference! Naturally wider for my toes to splay more normally, and oddly enough, felt a lot more cushion under foot than the Bondi as well. So cool how we all have such different feet. But as much as I love my Mach 5's, they aren't max cushion enough for me to feel comfortable running a lot in them. I use them mainly for walking up to 5 miles a day walking dogs as my job, so they are amazing for that, but I am a bit on the heavier side, and I need a more max cushion daily running sneaker while I'm still losing weight. It's too much pressure on my knees and ankles to run in something that doesn't have max cushion. I used to run all the time, miss it, but it's a little more challenging with some extra weight on the body, thus why I need an amazing shoe to help me during my weight loss journey.

Have you found a better cushioned running shoe?
@beezer818 ай бұрын
@@ariellenelson8512 I did...I just picked up the Asics Nimbus 26...they are amazing! I think im going to 86 Hoka from my shoe rotation all together- they just wear out too fast, especially the ones that dont have thick soles. Absolutely loving the new Nimbus 26 so i highly recommend them for cushion, support (neutral but supportive), and a bit of a wider base so I feel really stable, which I love ❤.

Hello ! I have flat feet and I have try the bondi 8 and I love the maximin cushion but I read they are not for over pronation … which one will work for me ?
@Keane-fh2pc Жыл бұрын
Overpronator and heavy runner here. I ran in both Asics Kayano 29 and Hoka Gaviota 4 and I just love the Hoka that I even bought a second pair. The Gaviota is their max cushion, max stability shoe for overpronators. Another model would be the Arahi 6 which is also a stability shoe for overpronators but to a less degree.
@RunToTheFinish Жыл бұрын
They aren’t specifically a stability shoe. But all HOKA provide decent stability based on the platform of the shoe.

Hi there, thanks for your video. Could you give me some advice on what shoes (Hoka or not) to get for everyday use, not running, walking and standing? I have several feet issues, as ankle arthritis, some degree of plantar fascitis, and pain on my heels, as well as on my left big toe. I would really appreciate any advice, as I am totally lost on what to get! Thanks!
@RunToTheFinish5 ай бұрын
With PF, you will generally benefit from having a shoe with a bit of support so it's comfy but not just super soft that you sink in to which would be the Bondi. I would look at the Gaviota or the Arahi. Both are technically stability, the gaviota is going to be the most cushioned. www.runtothefinish.com/hoka-walking-shoes/
