Thanks Captain, This brings a question to my mind. If the FO is the PF, when is the right time for the Captain to take control after landing?

Hello AbdulAziz, Thank you for your question. Ideally I think the best time is approaching taxi speed, abeam the exit. In unfamiliar airport or in a congested traffic airport maybe earlier. I like to think of it this way the landing phase is complete when the Reversers are stowed. As per the FCTM they should be stowed approaching taxi speed. This is my personal opinion. What do you think, when is the best time?

@@AbdulmuatiAsiri37 I could not find a reference in FCOM or the FCTM for control transfer after touch down. For some reason 60 seems to be a popular number by which Captains will assume controls, again I could not find anything related to the 60 kts other than reversers back to idle.

Sallam AbdulAziz You are right their is nothing mentioned in the FCOM or FCTM. I still think the transfer should be done approaching taxi speed, if no other factors dictates an earlier control transfer. I had this discussion with few Captains, I was flying right seat with them when I was in training, and they did the same with me 😳. In the debriefingI asked why the rush to resume controls (I was doing a line check by the way!!!) All the answers that I heard were not convincing. Any ways their it is, sorry that I don’t have a solid answer. All the best 🙏🏼

@@AbdulmuatiAsiri37 you are right, this is one area that you see a lot of different opinions on. Hopefully it is covered in the coming updates for FCOM or FCTM.
