Wow, Jamie. You've uncovered a blaring issue in our society. Rich powerful men are being held too accountable! Its creating instability in social politics. Rich powerful men should never feel discomfort on the subject of discriminated groups, that would be pushing it too far. Thank you Jamie for uncovering this truth. Shut up, dude.

@samg34564 жыл бұрын
Jamie Dean I at no point have criticized Jimmy. He is a rich powerful man, that's not an insult. And no, protecting the feelings of those in power would not be considered discrimination by anyone. Discomfort isn't punishment, it's key to understanding people who are foreign to what you're used to. Being uncomfortable and aware of it is what breeds acceptance. Villainizing it, on the other hand, is what generates the resentment of "political correctness." Your comment was whiney and I made fun of it.

That reminds me of an extremely strict teacher back when I was in school who had a divergent squint. Looking at her eyes, you could never be sure who or what she was actually focusing on. This made all of her students both scared and confused at the same time when she started scolding someone because you couldn't tell from her gaze who she was addressing.

I've never seen a Man freeze up like that. Decades of Hard Work and dedication from humble beginnings in SNL, to Late Night to the Tonight Show and everything in between was about to be thrown out the Window He even knew the risks, he was cautious saying Drag Queen, you can tell since his Voice decreased in Volume when saying those words. As soon as Rupaul interrupted him, you can already see him accepting the fate befallen to him, he didn't even try to deny it either he was just like "Welp, this shit's happening, might as well salvage the moment" Truly a frightening moment

This is the visual moment in history when people should realize this absurd “cancel culture” has gone too far. Imagine being that afraid that your entire career, and quite possibly your public life, is finished over something you said that didn’t know was offensive. This turned out to not be the case in this scenario, but at any rate, how could anybody truly know what’s offensive and what isn’t anymore? I’m not talking about blatantly offensive terms involving race, but as far as the fluidity of gender has come in the last few years, our society is still struggling with the transition. A large part of that is due to the stigma that for generations has followed sexuality and the way the people choose to express it, but it's not the homophobes, sexists, and bigots that's holding our society back, though they still are partly to blame. The real reason society has struggled to accept new perspectives is because they don't understand them. The majority of people have been raised being told that expressing their sexuality freely is wrong, that being attracted to the same sex is immoral, that the definition of gender can't be interpreted in any other way than biologically, or even that women were somehow lesser than men. And now that we're finally entering a world that's becoming more open minded, the sort of conversations that should be taking place explaining how people are supposed to approach acceptable and unacceptable terminologies aren't even begun out of fear that someone might unintentionally ask or say something that could be interpreted as offensive. Because the mob of online opinion is always watching, and they're just waiting for someone, anyone, to slip up and say or do something that may have been considered acceptable just a few years ago, but today is offensive. Throughout history, society has always been able to learn from their mistakes and become better, it wasn't very long ago when making fun of gay people or people with disabilities was something you'd very commonly see on TV and in movies, it was still considered offensive to a degree but it was also considered "comedy". The majority of TV shows from the early 2000's until 2012-13 probably wouldn't even make it past the pilot stage in 2020, but that's because we learned from our mistakes and we became better. People are a product of their surroundings, children who grew up watching content like that and made similar jokes online, or repeated things they heard didn't know that a decade later those same words would come back and destroy their lives. How could they know? But that's whats happening. People are quicker today to punish someone for their offensive actions, whether it's intentional or unintentional, than they are to educate about why it's offensive, or even to stop and think about how the way a person thought when they were 13 probably isn't the way that person thinks today. Honestly, I think at this point it’s become more about the power than it is about being offended. This movement started with people who actually deserved to have their lives and careers taken away from them, Harvey Weinstein, R Kelly, Bill Cosby, Jeffrey Epstein. But it wasn't long before the mob realized the power they held. A power that allows them to destroy a single person’s career with just a few keystrokes. Orwell was off by a few decades when he wrote 1984, because the initiation of the thought police has only just begun, but I imagine by 2084, it’ll be inconceivably worse than anything Orwell, Black Mirror, or anybody else could have ever imagined.

Calm down. Cancel culture is not even real. People lose a thousand of followers but that's it. We have full on CRIMINALS having a career. Donald Trump is the FUCKING PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES and you wanna talk about cancel culture? Bullshit. People should be afraid if they disrespect another human being.

@@clemermoacir You can close your eyes, pretend it doesn't exist, and tell yourself whatever you want, but it does very much exist or this video of Jimmy Fallon wouldn't be relevant in the slightest. The fear in his eyes was real. If he was just worried that he possibly unintentionally offended his guest, his reaction probably would have been more sensitive and apologetic and not the shock, horror, and speechless reaction he had. Just look at the other comments on this video, they're all laughing at how horrified he was. This isn’t a group of people humorously appreciating his empathy. It’s an online cancel mob boasting their own power. They know that they can destroy careers over an idle word. They know that Fallon knows that. They know that Fallon is afraid of them, and they think it’s hilarious.

It was a dry crowd because they expected the drag queen to be in drag....the makeup doesn't make the queen. He is every bit the same without makeup and I think that makes him a great performer and an even better icon. People need to appreciate the amazing things he has completed in his life as well as for the entertainment of others. He needs to be appreciated as a whole and not just for drag. If I saw RuPaul I would probably cry. Drag or no drag. I love you Ru!!!
